"Fern"
“Damn it, Jumari,” the jade Raptor muttered to himself as he ducked into the hollow tree trunk, brushing his head through the ferns serving as a curtain. He followed the crudely carved stairs down into the earth. “Damn it, damn it.”
His brother’s home had never felt cozy, it was suffocating and too ‘filled with all sorts of strange concoctions and potions’ for Jumari’s liking. But he desperately needed to talk to Kailani. More or less.
The blue drake had his back to him when Jumari entered, but as soon as he stuck his head in, Kailani turned. As always, the Raptor said nothing, just looked at him expectantly.
“Kail,” Jumari pulled at the lavender crest feathers on his head. “I need help.”
His brother pointed to one of the bottles on a shelf.
“No, no, I mean…” The green dragon struggled to find the right words. “King Asel’s new advisor- there’s something he wants from him, I think he’s using him. Asel won’t listen to me about him. What do I do?”
Kailani gestured with his claws and flicked his tail twice.
“No, I’m not going to /poison/ him. Can you imagine the paperwork I’d have to go through to explain why I killed someone without evidence?”
“Messy.” Kailani signed. Jumari nodded and tapped his chin, a worried frown forming across his beak. Suddenly, an idea lit up in his mind.
“What if…”
virtueisabsolute replied to your post: so abt solstice!! a lot of the plot is still being...
What light does he view his scribe in? Like is he the often under-appreciated but respected advisor (kinda like the Iroh to Asel’s Zuko), or is he more of the ignored, taken-for-granted servant? Sorry, I like asking questions about characters… I enjoy the little details!
asel relies on him a lot! the scribe is jumari, and he is well appreciated- asel knows very well that jumari is a very strategic, educated dragon but asel has a habit of putting his leading responsibilities on him. jumari’s almost an older brother figure to him, and asel believes that he’s better qualified for kingship, however, they do get frustrated with each other from time to time.
