Random Thoughts: This movie is a mess, I just had to get it out there right away.

Alright so with the cast and the decent but cheesy/goofy trailer I was excited to see this then I heard some reviews and this was from genre people and I’m like oh oh this could be bad.  Now when I hear that kind of bad reviews I always think well it can’t be that bad, in the case of The New Mutants that rang true for me but there’s time when the old where there’s smoke there’s fire and this is one of those cases.

The poster sucks and the billing sucks Frank Grillo is barely in this movie and he’s second billed also Nic Cage not in it enough to save the movie so know that going in.

What I Liked: I love Tony Jaa, Frank Grillo ans Nic Cage all are up their for me especially in the action genre so I liked seeing them and I will say Cage has some good lines and he does sell it and I will say this the movie is bad but you wouldn’t know it from Cage.  Tony Jaa has some good fights.  That’s all I got.  Poor Frank Grillo was wasted or what I think mostly cut from the film.

What I Didn’t Like: Train Wreck, Dumpster fire, a mess all of these work for this film, except for some acting this stinks right across the board.  Now the one thing I think was the worst of everything was the direction, pure and simple this is a case of a film not cutting together, the editing here is all-time bad.  Character show up fight they go away for awhile then come back.  There’s no content to any of this.  Honest to goodness Frank Grillo doesn’t nothing in this films, he repeats many of his lines and he looks lost.  Alain Moussi is a good fighter, a good action guy here his acting is terrible he honestly has the same lost and confused look on his face the whole movie and yes he’s lost his memory but you can at least change your look from time to time.

So this is kind of a ripoff of Predator, the effects are terrible the space creature thing/guy is laughable, the script does not make sense honestly it’s like the acts got mixed up.  Also the film is way too long and has way too many characters that don’t payoff at all.  The beginning is all about Moussi’s character being dropped off at this military camp and except for the one “comedy character’ there’s no payoff to this at all, you didn’t need that.

To say this is a mess is one thing but I also want to point out it’s no fun, boring and just badly made.  The one thing that will piss me off with a movie is that it’s incompetent that it looks like amateurs  made this movie. They got the movie and the pull to hire three names and this is what you had them do?  So this is one of those movies where yes it’s as bad as you heard, just check out the IMDB score 2.9, I joke that I feel IMDB numbers are always high but in this case they nailed it.  A soulless, joyless movie except for Cage who does bring some fun but I shouldn’t mention this movie is almost all night scenes it’s dark and drab, that’s the other thing the film is ugly to look at.

Final Rating: A bad, bad film, yes I’m shaking my head as I’m typing this.  Not even a fun and weird train wreck.
