CW: Siren Reader is hungry</3 (which shows that, as a siren, you are violent when it comes to food)
. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁.
The silence of the deep depths are nothing like the crashing waves of the shore.
You thought to yourself while holding the food you caught in your mouth. You were in the middle of sneakily swimming your fins and tail though the ocean's waves along hiding within its corals to get to your destination in front of you. The hidden shore right next to the big rocks in the sand where it seems isolated was your destination. Your usual place when you want to relax or stay there for a bite of your food. Nothing too crazy, just a getaway spot from your usual territory that you call home. A place where no one can bother you at all.
Honestly, you really don't recall on how you found it but you do know there's no humans in sight...or merfolks and sirens. Perfect for eating your perfect catch!
Once you arrived, you snuggly used the wet sand to place your webbed hands on it to push yourself up and turn swiftly onto a seating position. Lowering yourself comfily on the wet sand, you tucked your tail almost around your space circle to be in some side sitting position. With your relaxed position and scanning your surroundings to make sure they weren't anyone trying to disturb your peace, you focus back to your catch to place it onto your hands; already starting to devour your food in nasty bites. It's a miracle that it was dead or it will start slapping you with its small fin. Although, It's annoying when that happens but what can you do about it? Tell it let you eat it? Wasting time like that is unbelievable.
You can't imagine the fact someone dumb enough will actually do that-
"EEEEKKK!"
A loud noise ― more like a squeal of a dolphin(??) ― interrupted your train of thoughts, making your head snapped towards the source. Only to catch a sighting of..a person? They were away from you where you can also see the figure's long, braided hair. Specifically red with weird things on their hair. You don't know this person, and you sure hell know not wanting to meet this weirdo.
So, you took your food to be hidden in some spot of a peaking coral to not have the blood flow with the water, ensuring its hidden spot. Then you quickly hid into the water with a single leap, water splashing softly around you. Luckily the figure from a far didn't seem to notice as they were focused on whatever they were squealing over something. You barely could make out their squeaking words, but you could hear the distress of this person.
"Wait wait!! I am not trying to hurt you-!!! I promiiiseee!!!!"
At least you caught on that loud, distressed line. Quietly peeking out of your hiding spot in a wary matter, you couldn't help but locked onto this prey. Perhaps you can get another catch...maybe a bigger one. Specifically..human like catch. Yeah, that would be a good main dish after your fish appetizer!
With determination, you swam with stealth of an apex predator through the big rocks and corals to reach closer in inspection of your meal. Waves gently moving around you with each flick of your tail as the distance grew shorter from you and the prey in sight. Adrenaline filled in your veins when your webbed hands went to grasp a coral to prepare yourself to launch onto this human.
However, when you fully register the supposed human from a few feet away from you, you noticed one thing. The 'human'...had a sparkly-bright green scales on the lower body instead of legs. Not only that, this supposed 'human' had a small like chain wrapped around their pale-skin slender built, revealing weird objects (trinkets) on the rusted-gold chain. It was a merfolk.
Your eyes narrowed to slit upon realizing your mistake, it was a merfolk in this 'deserted' shore that you found peaceful. Got ruined from this..merfolk. Worst of all, they were naive to realize they had a carnivore few feet behind them! Seven, they're making you ticked off already...
Yet, before you could react, you noticed a rapid splash from besides the merfolk. Pausing for a moment, you tilt your head to the side with curiosity to notice that the merfolk had...a fish. Well, more like an injured fish. It seemed like the merfolk was trying, quote on quote 'trying,' to help as the merfolk looked clueless on what they're doing.
"Oh my...Are you ok now?"
Now clearly hearing the soft, concerned tone of the merfolk's boyish voice, you couldn't help but quietly pinch the bridge of your nose in frustration. Of COURSE it isn't ok if it's injured. Even more annoying? He is helping instead of taking advantage and devouring the food source!..Well, make sense since majority of the merfolk don't have sharp teeth or don't see fish as their food. Instead, they see every fish as their friends. Pathetic-
"Oh! I didn't see you there!"
Shit.
Your slits widening in surprise as they locked into the merfolk, instead of his back facing towards you, now he was directly in front of you with his sparkling, bright blue-doe eyes directed at you. Seemingly..gleeful upon noticing your presence behind him. You gripped on the corals as well as eyes turning sharp, lips pursing in a small snarl when you fully realize how close you were than you meant to be.
In a swift motion, you push yourself away with a flick of your long tail. What surprised you though was the other's reaction-
"Wha- Wait!"
The merfolk's expression suddenly changed from cheerfulness to urgency as he suddenly push himself against the wet sand to leap towards you like he was following you?! What kind of crazy merfolk is he-
"Do you perhaps know how to heal injuries?...My fish friend is injured from a shark attack! But..I don't know how to help them out...."
His voice sounded desperate, hopeful on any useful skill you have to help his 'fish friend.' Almost like he was expecting you to know something?! (Spoilers, he wasn't expecting you to help, he just hoped!) What kind of merfolk is he- Of course you can heal injuries!
That and you knew where this was going. You knew you had to reject and go out your day. Despite that, your prideful ego got in your way as a siren-
"Of course I know how to heal. I am siren."
You answered bluntly, almost like a sharp edge of the knife snapping. Sharp, direct, and prideful. Just like every siren. And just like every reaction you encountered, you expected this merfolk to be at least weirded out or disgusted-
Though, that didn't lower this merfolk at all.
Instead, his doe eyes lit up with a relief grin appearing on his lips,
"Oh thank the seven!!! I heard sirens are good at healing! The best actually!!!"
Before you could react, his hand suddenly snap at your hand and quickly swim around to his old spot while he dragged you along. Your narrowed eyes snap wide open again in shock. How has he not given up? You just said you were a siren! He should be scared! Not-..relieved!
Never mind that, he gently and purposely pushed you to be by the other side of the injured fish, letting your hand go. The injured fish flapped its fin weakly that you couldn't help but frown to yourself. That could've been your next meal...but noooo, you're here now. Being a goody two ol' shoes and helping it out instead of devouring it!
Side glancing the merfolk on the other side of the fish, his big-doe eyes sparkled in eagerness and hopefulness directly at you. Already admiring your...'bravery'? Man, what kind of merfolk is he anyways? Whatever.
Focusing towards the task, you took a deep breath in before gently humming a soft tune. Not just any tune. The soft, quiet lullaby illuminating the siren's call of healing. One of your sharp webbed fingers trailed the water closely to the fish's injuries. Leaving a trail of a soft glow along the gentle touch within the fish's body. The water in contact against the body didn't made the fish trash around, instead the water had it be soothed and calm. Injuries seem to slowly disappear one after the other like a marathon. You were in your own small world that you haven't noticed the small, quiet 'wow...' of admiration from the merfolk. You didn't care about him. Simply focused on the humming with no distractions so far. Honestly? You almost forgotten how relaxing humming it is. Even more when it's one of the many siren call's healings, also known for soothing not only your injuries, but also your mentality. That's how rare you get injured.
Steadily and smoothly, the humming grew shorter to a stop in its end. Moving your webbed finger away, the fish's body in view to reveal its now healed scales. That made the merfolk perk up in a gasp,
"You..You did it!!"
He giggled in solace and happiness, already quick to pull the fish deeper into the ocean for the fish to seemingly swim around you in eagerness. Almost like it was not only thanking the merfolk, but thanking you as well.
"Oh my Seven! THANK YOU SO MUCH, FRIEND"
Friend-?
That's when he suddenly launch onto you with arms wrapped around your body with a huge, wide smile along with closed eyes. It seemed like he savored the hug while you stiffened, not used to this kind of...affection? And also not used of someone being so carefree about the knowledge that he's hugging a siren-
"It's...not a big of a deal."
You awkwardly patted his back with an unsure, hesitant hand but stopped when he suddenly pulled back with a sharp, loud gasp with the fish following in suit. What the-
"Not a big of a deal?! You saved my fish friend's life, Friend!!"
He seemed very sure that you were basically his hero and...a friend. Even when you two JUST met.
"Look, Merfolk. I'm not your friend. I just helped you two out that doesn't mean we know each other. We barely know each other- I don't even know who you are--"
Expectantly, you were cut off by this beaming red-hair merfolk,
"OH. MY. GOSH. I forgot to introduce myself!!! I am so so sorry, Friend-! My name is Rielle!"
The merfolk, Rielle, exclaimed with enthusiasm. Wait- Rielle-?
"The 7th Prince of the Coral Sea!"
Oh.
Your eyebrow shot up with an impressed yet shocked look on your face. Man, your day couldn't get better than this. I mean it, quote on quote 'Better'-
"What's your name?"
Rielle, the prince, smiled softly at you. Too soft. Disgustingly...
Sweet
"....[Your Name]."
You quietly murmured to yourself, but Rielle caught it on like you spoke loud and clear.
"Oh! [Your Name]!!"
He repeated your name in gleefulness as he giggled afterwards, raising a hand to place it on his cheek and leaning against it to gaze at you with almost a loving smile. The way he sounded pronouncing your name was too sweet and almost like he adore saying your name.
"A pleasure to meet you, Friend! Thank you so much for saving my fish friend!!!"
He added gleefulness with cheerfulness as he soon pulled out a trinket from his small chain around his slim-lean waist where his scales start before showing it to you.
Was that a fork-
"Have this trinket as my gratitude and thanks! This a dinglehopper!!"
...A dingle-what now--
You gaped a bit in surprise, not because he's offering you this fork. No no, it's because he's so...childish to realize what it actually is-
Yet you couldn't find this child-like merfolk endearing.
"Uh...Thank you, Rielle.."
Almost like an instinct, your shoulders slowly ease up the tension in your body when you reached one webbed hand towards the..'dinglehopper.' Gently brushing his fingers from grasping the 'dinglehopper,' you held it up close to your face to inspect it. It really was a fork. More like a painted gold fork with how it felt like those silver utensils.
"Of course, Friend!!!"
He responded in such keenness that you were for sure knew that this prince can get along with everyone in a snap. How can this loving, pretty merfolk be so..outgoing. Glancing once more towards the merfolk, you couldn't help but notice how he twirled one of his hair strands with one fingers. His pale-soft cheeks in a tint of rose pink and a bashful smile revealed on his lips with eyes averting from you. What...a fascinating pretty one he was.
You couldn't help but give in into that small thought of helping his hair neat. That will be a good way to pay him back. Right? So, you did. Reaching once again towards Rielle, you instead used your webbed sharp fingers through the strands of hair peeking out. Even when your webbed fingers were sharp, you were gentle. It surprised you for a second, yet didn't stop to help his hair strand be behind his ear. Your hand stay there for a good while before reluctantly pulling away, already missing the softness of that smooth, red hair. You can't believe you actually did that than your previous motivation before you talked to him. It seemed it changed throughout your interaction with him. Oh well, you did it anyways-
That movement alone left the poor boy frozen.
Not of fear, no, but how hard his heart thump against his ribs like it's about to explode. How weird feelings inside his tummy grew more than he thought it should. How his hand that was previously on that hair strand just froze a few inches from it. How his big doe eyes widened with lips pursed in shock.
That, along with face burning red.
"EEEEKKK!!!"
He suddenly squealed loudly, already pulling away in such pace that between the two of you, the space grew larger than before. Even the fish who watched all of it from its spot followed along Rielle as his flustered face was hidden most likely from his hands and long, beautiful hair of his.
"OH MY GOSH! Is this what Neige mentioned when he talked about love at first sight!?"
He thought to himself as he avoided eye contact with you; in which, you let your hand fall to your side slowly. Confused etched your facial expression upon noticing his reaction to your payback. You can see the effect you had on him. Isn't that what he wanted though?
"You're such a weird one, Pretty one."
You simply commented yet made Rielle snapped his head at you with wide, flabbergasted eyes.
"P-Pretty? ME??"
His voice cracked into that squealing voice, his fin flapping against the water for a second until he pressed his hands against his cheeks to try and hide his redness. He was in LOSS of words on what to say that he missed the comment direction.
"I- Uh-!"
Rielle struggled to come up words before he suddenly locked eyes with you with a helpless pout,
"I- I have to go!"
He suddenly said as he suddenly swam passed you in swiftness that you barely missed him. The fish followed along, doing small jump against the water like he was saying goodbye to you. The thing was-
"YOU'RE ALSO SOOOO PRETTYYYY!!! I AM SO GLAD I MEET YOU, [Your Name]!!!!"
Rielle suddenly called out in a loud exclamation before sinking down into the ocean, leaving you in a puzzled state. Even with him abruption leaving, you couldn't help but quietly laugh at that. That was..unexpected. Unexpectedly adorable from him....And also unexpectedly letting your so called, 'prey,' leave from your claws. How did it become to this? You certainly do not know.
What you certainly did know though was the fact the meeting with this prince...left you a mark. Not a bad one, but a pleasant one. You will certainly remember his name and this nice meeting for as long as your breathing. Yet, not because you are stalking prey, but because this merfolk...was the very first merfolk you enjoy your time on that you couldn't help but hope to meet him again.
"What got ya smiling, Princeyyy?"
Rielle tensed at the sudden teasing tone of the familiar cat at lunch, looking over at the sly grinning cat floating next to him with a knowing glance.
"...Nothing....Just..."
Rielle trails off, unsure how to explain this fluttery feeling he's feeling. I mean, how can he? It was his first time feeling this...alive!
"Just thinking of an encounter I had with this...amazing someone-"
He was cut off by the cat's snickering,
"Oya~? Chen'ya thinks Princey is in loveeeeeee~ If! Princey is grinning doopey like that!"
With that comment, Rielle paused. Not in fear or disgust, but in a thoughtful realizaion.
"....So...this is love?"
Rielle quietly murmured, almost fascinated at that thought. Then a slow loving grin appeared in his lips. Leaning his chin against both of his hands with a dreamy look of his plastered on his face,*
"Oh...Love..."
Chen'ya, the teasing cat, grinned mischeviously at the prince's dreamy expression before giggling to himself. Happy he got to be right again.
Yet, Rielle didn't mind that. He daydreamed on the meeting he had with you. Smiling to himself, sighing dreamily, recalling small moments between the two of you...
Oh, how long he wish to see you once more...
Hope ya like it, Rielle lovers!! And the one who requested it!! <3
