head injuries always bleed a lot. it's not as bad as it seems. for skye
Skye knelt down beside Josie, her cobalt blue eyes scanning the gash on the younger girl’s forehead. Blood trickled down Josie’s temple, painting her soft features with stark crimson. Skye’s hands hovered, unsure whether to go find something to press against the wound, or if staying with her was the better idea.
At Josie's dismissive comment, Skye’s lips pressed into a thin line, a flicker of frustration sparking in her gaze. “ Josie, ” she said softly, the warmth in her voice wrapped in steel, “ you’re bleeding all over yourself & you’re trying to reassure me? ” Her fingers brushed Josie’s shoulder lightly, steadying her. “ You’re too kind for your own good, ” Skye added, exhaling sharply through her nose.
Remembering that she had a napkin tucked away in her purse, Skye quickly went & grabbed it, before moving back towards Josie. Once she was kneeling in front of her again, she began dabbing at the wound, the action being surprisingly gentle for someone who was once capable of ripping out hearts in a single motion. “ Maybe it’s not as bad as it looks, but forgive me if I don’t take your word for it. You Saltzmans seem to think you’re indestructible. ”
She paused, her expression softening as Josie winced again. “ I know you can handle yourself, Josie. But just this once, let me worry about you, alright? ” Her hand rested briefly over Josie’s, a subtle gesture of comfort. “ We’ll get you patched up & if anyone tries to make a big deal about this, I’ll handle it. ” A faint smile played on her lips, though her cobalt gaze never wavered from Josie’s, silently promising she wouldn’t let anything else happen to her.
