Note(s): English is not my native language, so forgive me in any mistakes in grammar. I hope you like it. 😊
Summary: Lord Stark asks the House Dayne for help.
“Lord Edric Dayne,
I’m writing to you, as soon as I’m able. Me and my two daughters now resides in King’s Landing. We find it difficult to adjust to the Southern court due to the fact that I’ve never been in the South since the rebellion and it’s my daughters’ first time in the capital. I’ve brought enough men with me, but I fear that we are somehow in danger. I request you, my Lord, to send Jon here as my daughters’ protector, for I would not be able to because of my duty as the Hand. I will tell Jon everything once he arrive.
I wish that you will find this letter as soon as possible. May the gods bless you.
Sincerely,
Lord Eddard Stark
Hand of the King”
“No, no, NO!” Ashara yelled. “I won’t allow my son near that blasted capital!”
The Daynes returned early to their home before the royal family and this is what they received in return.
Allyria rushed to her sister’s side to comfort her as Jon and Edric glanced at each other. They already know the reason why none of them want step foot in King’s Landing.
That place reeks of death.
That place is full of ghosts.
“Aunt Ashara, the Seven Kingdoms has been in a state of unrest after Lord Arryn’s death, we cannot ignore it for much longer,” Edric told her. “We have to do something.”
Ashara looked at Edric. “Have you forgotten what happened to his father? To his grandfather?” Jon flinched. He would never forget. “Stark men don’t fare well when they travel south.”
It’s not just his father, Brandon Stark, and his grandfather, Rickard, who were murdered by the Mad King.
Ever since the rebellion, Ashara has been worried of her son’s wellbeing. He reminded her of Brandon. He reminded her of Princess Elia and her children. He reminded her of Arthur.
They never made it home alive.
Is her son doomed to suffer the same fate of her loved ones?
“What had Lord Stark done to put himself and his daughters in danger?” Allyria mused.
“Perhaps, it’s about the late Hand of the King… but, we don’t know,” Jon replied. “If Lord Eddard’s in danger, it could be mean that he’s involved about something that does not concern him.”
Ashara suddenly hold his son’s hand. “Whatever the reason, I will not allow you to go there,” she told him, her voice shaking. “Even if the Targaryens are gone, the Lannisters still posed a threat. They are ruthless.”
“Still… Lord Stark asked us for our help,” Edric told them. “I want to help, but I cannot leave Starfall in Gerold’s hands. I don’t trust him.”
Everyone sighed. They were silent for a long time.
Jon was drumming his fingers on the table. King’s Landing are full of deathtraps. Jon knew that he cannot just step foot in the capital without a plan. He needed one if he wanted to get out of that horrible place alive.
“I will go,” Jon announced. “Edric, tell Lord Stark that I accept his request.”
“Jon, no!” his mother pleaded, gripping his hand tightly.
“I have a plan, mother. I have no intention of dying or anything like that,” he assured her. “On my honor as a Dayne, on my honor as a Stark, I will keep them safe.”
