the joy surrounding ofmd is how the sherlock fandom should have been celebrating in 2017 and it will never not break my heart knowing we could have had that. i’ll never forget seeing my dash full of devastated people feeling like they were lied to and baited and made to feel like “who they really are doesn’t matter”. i saw people leave fandom or take long mental health breaks because of s4. yeah we like to poke fun at mofftiss but what they did affected people in a very real way. ofmd is affecting people in a very real way. idk it’s just so nice to see people rejoicing rather than feeling like they were slapped in the face. also mofftiss can suck it because just look at how many articles are talking about the numbers this new show is bringing in. i hope it stings.

“Johnlockers just see gay in everything!”
The story of an heteronormative person who fell into The Johnlock Hell™️
This is my first original meta, so I’ll just start telling you something about me because want to try making your hope go 📈📈📈 because you may have seen something like this ⬇️ and your hope might have gone 📉📉📉
Now, I know Mark seemed pretty honest here even though Mofftiss usually lie, but if John Watson isn’t that person who is it then?? Because I refuse to believe that bbc Sherlock is a crime series and that it’s not about Sherlock’s feelings. (No, that person isn’t Irene or Molly or anyone else, we’re talking about Johnlock now.)
Let me explain my story with this show: I watched it for the first time when I was very young (in 2015/2016) with my parents. Since I didn’t know much about gay people and I was risen with heteronormativity I started thinking that Sherlock and Molly were in love, also because of the “I love you” in TFP. I was too young to join the fandom, so I didn’t know about all the Johnlock thing and about “shipping” so when the series finished I was even satisfied by s4 :’) Then I rewatched the show in December 2019 and I finally joined the fandom. One of the first things I noticed was that a huge amount of people was making Christmas fanarts of John and Sherlock together. When I saw them I was upset and I thought it was weird because they were “JuST bEsT fRieNdS!11!!” But then I started seeing all the evidence and I had to surrender in front of all the proofs, understanding that Johnlock was the only possible endgame. In February I found out about tjlc AND IT JUST BLEW MY MIND. I already shipped Johnlock but Rebekah on her YouTube channel made me understand that the Mofftiss had an actual plan and that they had to lie to make us think we just made up all of this, to make us think we just saw gay in everything. It’s like a surprise party, you know? A surprise party in a gay bar:

Johnlock made me accept LGBTQ+ community more than any other lgbt representation. How is this possible if it isn’t what mofftiss wanted and if this show is just queerbaiting?
If Gatiss seemed pretty honest while saying that it’s not the story they want to tell, let me remind you that he seemed pretty honest even when he said that Mycroft didn’t have gadgets in his umbrella bc this is “another kind of show”. Guess what? He had a freaking secret gun in a freaking secret sword in his freaking umbrella :D
If bbc Sherlock isn’t about Johnlock, then it’s not possible that I, a person who was risen with heteronormativity and who didn’t know much about the LGBTQ+ community AND THAT ALSO THOUGHT IT WAS WEIRD AND NOT NORMAL TO BE GAY, started thinking that those two characters were soulmates. I shipped Sherlolly too at first, but I had to open my mind to other possibilities. (And yes, it had been difficult at the beginning to admit that for the first time in my life I wanted so bad to see two men kissing and end up together, I felt wrong even just saying it out loud when i was alone at home). I didn’t usually see gay in everything, but I still started shipping Johnlock because it was obvious, there were too many proofs. And there still are, no matter what Mofftiss say. So yes, “Some day the true story may be told.” And it will, it will be told. Get ready to believe.
