12. Is there a trope you haven’t written yet but really want to?

Oh heck yes, so many! I haven’t written fake dating yet or arranged marriage/marriage of convenience and I’d love to do both of them. I honestly can’t believe I’ve never actually written those! I’d also like to do a real long-running enemies-to-reluctant allies-to-lovers with every single trope along the way. And I really really want to write a spy adventure romance story.

21. What is the one fic that got away?

The one fic that got away!?

Here are a few:

a) A Doctor Who/Harry Potter trilogy set after HBP and S02. The basic premise is that the universe Rose gets trapped in is the HP universe and magic and whatever is in the time vortex are the same thing and Rose’s Bad Wolf powers have made her a witch. She ends up meeting the golden trio and they try to find a way to break through the universes to reunite her with the Doctor, made all the more urgent when it becomes clear that Voldemort has a new army of mechanical pepperpots... They try the spell but it goes wrong and Hermione ends up trapped in the other universe, left to find the Doctor with no magic to help her. 

b) A long Charles/Mary Downton fic in which she goes to Poland. Never got many details in my mind and the fact I’ve never been to Poland would have made things tricky but it would have been cool to explore post-S03 Mary in an interesting way and with the depth I explored her earlier. I really like sending her abroad, don’t I?

c) A one-shot Reylo canon-verse fic after TLJ in which Rey and Ben meet in a club on Tatooine and dance to electric swing music and contemplate balance in the Force. Might still write it one day but it feels kind of pointless now.

d) Reylo James Bond/Alias inspired spy AU. I have a lot of that mapped out and actually most of the first chapter done. I think it would be a really cool fic and it’s exactly what I want to write but... eh... IDK. It would be a (short) trilogy with a focus on glamorous travel, gadgets, implausible but sexy costume changes and shocking revelations rather than angsty and gritty realism and called “From the First Order with Love”.

New recruit Rey Johnson earned her Licence to Kill when a great betrayal rocked MI6 leaving many dead and the organisation changed forever. Five successful years later, she is trying to bring down the shady First Order conglomerate, when she starts to hear chatter of a new terrorist group of masked vigilantes that could link to the traitors of five years ago, in particular her mysterious predecessor, the agent who was Agent 001 before her.

Bel. I think a six hour road trip without music would be pretty shit but I think Bel would be both interesting and fun to talk to and not annoying, I'd love to have six hours to sit and get to know her ❤️ she's driving since she knows how and I do not.

Probably Freddie? I feel like he'd be moderately irritating to sit next to but at least he's pretty small. I don't know that we'd talk much but yeah.

Emma and Mr. Knightley are one of my favourite Austen ships. They’re one of the most romantic, I think, because you really see them build up - reading between the lines for Mr. Knightley’s feelings and Emma’s subconscious attraction to him as it grows. The proposal scene is absolutely beautiful and you get to see them being together afterwards! I’m also not bothered by the age gap in the way I am a bit with Marianne and Colonel Brandon because Emma is much more mature than Marianne is and her very real social and financial power makes her Mr. Knightley’s equal - not to mention his “sacrifice” of moving from Donwell to Hartfield. She always holds the cards even though she’s much younger than him.

As for Anakin and Padme… *sigh* I accept them as the doomed, star-crossed lovers who set the whole Star Wars saga in motion but on a personal level it’s quite hard to see why on earth Padme would go for Anakin when Obi-Wan is RIGHT THERE. And the dialogue in AotC is… unfortunate, unless you’re a teenager. Like, I appreciate their plot function and mythical relevance so I don’t not ship them, but I can’t exactly feel invested in their execution or find it particularly plausible, at least not on Padme’s side.
