I attended the 8th annual EDUCATION THROUGH MUSIC - LOS ANGELES gala last week honoring composer John Debney and music teacher Christine DeMore which was hosted by Ed Helms.  I was blown away by what this charity does for inner-city schools.  It’s hard to imagine a world where children don’t get the chance to experience the joy of playing music, but in more and more public schools that is exactly what is happening.  So, Education Through Music - Los Angeles has partnered with Los Angeles County Schools to make sure children have music as a part of the core curriculum.  They helped 6,000 kids get their hands on musical instruments in school this year alone!  Research has proven that music enhances students’ academic achievement and creative development.  I saw first hand how important this charity is when Christine DeMore’s school choir preformed for us at the gala.  Seeing the smiles these young children had on their faces and the pride they showed while they sang and played instruments truly brought tears to my eyes.  That magical moment that night never would have happened if Education Through Music - Los Angeles wasn’t able to help Christine get the funding she needed to advance their musically talents.  The committee chairs Lola Debney and Alecia Spendlove did such an amazing job showing everyone in attendance how important this charity really is.  You can help put the music back in disadvantage schools as well by donating to Education Through Music - Los Angeles too.  You truly can change child’s life with your generosity.
