Sleeping

Whenever I play Wolverine in my friend’s Marvel Multiverse RPG one-shots, this is exactly what I’m imagining.

A little bit of the dynamics seen when  New York Times called up Sub Pop for “Grunge slang terms” was always at play with Archie. But this is strange, even by acknowledged time lapse standards. For Archie did a couple of giant spasms of grunge-themed material in 1994 and then 1995. Arguably Bob Bolling, of all their creators, got in earlier in 1993 with "The Alternative Whirl" that misses the mark by about 120 degrees with its premise (via comics dot org): At the “Persistent Pain” concert, Betty and Veronica compete for the title of “Miss Alternative Girl”. The panel above is from 2001. I am guessing it was a page pulled out of storage, and editor Gorelick just did not look closely enough. This is just as well, since the scramble for a replacement would have us at floating on “should we go with goth?”. (Still a tad early to be near the customary end to put in an “emo”.)
