I finally got 2 issues of the Yugioh manga in portuguese a little while ago (something a lot harder than it should be, since it hadn't been rereleased here since the 2000s) and forgot to post about the translation!
Well, better late than never I guess, here's the most fascinating details on the translation for me:
They used most of the 4Kids localized names for the main cast (Joey instead of Jounouchi, Téa instead of Anzu, Solomon, Tristan) but they also gave Johji (Tristan's little cousin) a seemingly exclusive-to-here(?) localized name
He's Jorge (or, George)
Bizarrely enough, other characters that didn't appear in the anime like Hanasaki still have their original japanese names! Not sure why Johji got a new name, maybe because they thought Tristan having a relative with a japanese name would be weird? Or maybe it's just that the name is close enough to the original (will have to find more volumes to confirm if anyone else also got a localized name)
Other detail that dissapointed me as a big wishshipping fan is that they translated the iconic "Yugi we should mate right now" in a way less gay way...
They translated it as "Yugi! Let's put them to mate right now"
Worst part is that I know from second hand sources they also made the pier scene less gay too, with Yugi just saying that Joey's his best friend instead of telling Joey he loves him >_<
