Notice to Interested Candidates - Application Deadline Is Today for Ohio County Circuit Clerk Appointment
Just a reminder that TODAY is the final day to submit a Letter of Interest for a possible appointment to become Ohio County's next Circuit Clerk is Monday, August 17, 2026, by 5 pm. Due to the vacancy in the position of Ohio County Circuit Clerk, the 1st Judicial Circuit of the West Virginia Circuit Court is accepting letters of interest or resumes from interested candidates. Please see the notice that follows: Notice to Candidates - Appointment as Ohio County Circuit Clerk Due to a vacancy in the position of Ohio County Circuit Clerk, by majority vote, the circuit court is required by West Virginia Code 3-10-1, et. seq. and West Virginia Code 3-10-6, et. seq., to fill the position of Ohio County Clerk with 30 days of the vacancy, which will become effective on August 31st, 2026. Interested candidates must file a letter of interest or resume with a cover letter to the Chief Judge of the Circuit Court. Letters and resumes may be mailed to the Office of Chief Judge Joseph Barki, Hancock County Courthouse, P.O. Box 428, 102 Court Street, New Cumberland, WV 26047, or by emailing an attached copy to [email protected]. In order to be eligible to be appointed to the position of Ohio County Circuit Clerk, candidates must: Be a member of the same political party with which the exiting officer holder was a member at the time of their election (Democrat) for at least 1 year prior to the vacancy; Be a qualified voter; Be a minimum of 18 years of age; and Must be a resident of Ohio County, WV.
