Joanna doesn't mind if you refer to her as "granola" even if you mean it in an unflattering way.

She's Chicago-raised but wilderness-destined, with a storied spelunking career and a near-complete PhD in petrology. When she's not spending her summers in perpetual adventure-road-trip mode, she's thrifting for hiking gear, treating the climbing gym like a second home, or out on the town with her closer-than-a-sister bestie slash coworker slash roommate Irina.

After weathering an upbringing under the thumb of controlling parents and only recently coming out on the better end of a toxic relationship, Joanna's poised to focus on herself no matter how delusionally optimistic she has to be to do it. She's all sunshine vibes, chill music, post-workout edibles, and no drama… just as long as you don't try to tell her what she can or can't do.

Chapter 4 Editing pass ~done!

This one is the The Descent™ chapter, where the characters decide to do exactly the thing they shouldn’t and explore deeper in the cave. I had a lot of fun pushing this chapter up to the edge of being psychedelic/dreamlike since it’s a JoannaPOV chapter where she has a concussion and becomes convinced she’s imagining things. I plan to get back to this ooey gooey space with future plot points because a) it’s fun and pulpy and b) being in a cave is so disorienting and really just... Like That
