Lately I've had a new obsession--collecting fountain pens (not included above are the Pilot Metropolitan and Lamy Safari, which I just cleaned). They're really fun to write with AND draw with and I love that I have so many ink choices. I really didn't think there'd be much difference in the writing feel, but going from a $10 Jinhao 159 (blue chunko above and it's freaking heavy it's awesome) to my most recent $48 Faber Castel Essentio (left), there's definitely a difference. I don't get this obsession I have myself, but idk, for some reason having them in my hands makes me just want to write more. I am starting my journals again, planning stories, sketching, etc.
Anyway yesterday when I bought what I thought was a "damn expensive" writing tool, the dude next to us dropped $200 for a Sailor pen with gold nib and my jaw dropped. Apparently he was an avid collector. I wonder if I'd ever go that far... but props to him for getting what makes him so happy. He was super enthusiastic about it and really engaged with the store clerk and gushed about the pen to his girlfriend, who didn't understand where he was coming from but was super supportive of him nonetheless.
