Tears rush to Kiara’s eyes for the hundredth time tonight as she drops her head forward into some approximation of a nod. Her chin bumps into the hand still on her knee, then stays there. Neither of them moves away; instead, she feels the cool metal of his rings against her skin as his thumb drags back and forth over her knee. She lets her eyes fall shut and whispers, “Can you– will you set an alarm for five minutes?” JJ fumbles his phone out of his pocket as Kiara closes her eyes and rests her cheek on the back of the hand on her knee. She expects him to pull back, and he does after a few seconds, but relief floods her belly when she sees it’s only so he can unlock his phone. He navigates it slowly, thumb sliding carefully over the cracked screen as he steals little glances at her. She watches him scroll on the timer screen, adjusting the seconds and minutes. He lifts his eyes to her face as his thumb swipes down on the hours before hitting ‘Start.’

Fifteen seconds and then Kiara’s knuckles go white around the knob before she jerks it open. JJ, propped up against the door as he sits with his head tilted back, falls right into the bathroom and directly into Kie’s path. Three things happen simultaneously – her knee knocks his left shoulder, his elbow crushes her right foot, and she goes down right on top of him, full weight landing on his stomach. JJ squawks at the first hit, then oofs as the air rushes out of him; above him, Kiara curses as she tries to scramble back to her feet. She’s gets a hand beneath herself and pushes up, cheeks flushing hot when he yelps and jerks his lower half away. “Sorry, sorry!” She crawls over him, hands carefully placed on the floor this time, one between his knees, one near his hip. JJ’s hands are warm where they land on her sides beneath the disheveled jacket she still wears, and heat spreads further up Kiara’s neck as two of his fingers brush the bare skin where her shirt has ridden up. She swings her leg over him, feels goosebumps where the inside of her knee is brushing his side beneath his shirt, and then quickly swings her other leg over too. They stare at each other as she falls onto her ass next to him. The hood of his jacket is crooked where it falls over her hair and into her face, one sleeve is pushed high above her elbow, and somewhere in the fray, she’s lost a sock.

i honestly don't fuck with 99% of fanon riara because a lot of them write kie as a self-insert and change her into whatever fits their rafe fantasy (just like the millionaire au thing you were talking about) but there is one riara fic i actually found through a jiara moot that's very dark but fucks sooooooo hard and i confess it's given me a messy soft spot for them
definitely. i’d even go as far as to say this is what happened with jiara. jj was obviously a fan favorite so the fans were looking for a way to see him be a boyfriend so they could self-insert. it just sucks that person had to be kiara. also sucks that the producers even listened. what’s funny is how bad this backfired because none of these characters are fit for commitment or traditionalism
i once read one where kiara (disabled?) him and it felt so good. lovely 50/50 toxicity despite canon and it didn’t feel like she was getting stepped on at all. do send me the fic if you remember, i’ll read anything lmao

Hello! I hope youre doing well! After reading the last chapter of the recent OBX fic you posted I was wondering if there were any updates on the sick Luke story since I think it's briefly referenced?
Otherwise are there any other OBX stories in the works (feel free to list off campus as well if that's been the main focus 😂)
Oh man, yeah, my brain right now is completely Off Campus rot at the moment. I have way too many documents started for them, though I'm making my way back to OBX too!
For Off Campus, I've got a couple short one shots in progress (enjoy my stupid stand-in titles that mean literally nothing lolll) -
Beau - A very short (i think) piece set post season 1 featuring that book spoiler. I took a different route than the book. Veryyyy angsty. Penelope - This one is a short speculation-ish fic based on some BTS pics. Dean - Picture an extended version of the scene of Dean and Allie in her bedroom in ep 6 Sexy Dean - A continuation of the 'bruise' scene in my Dean and Allie fic Comparison - Post S1, a short fic on the differences between Dean and Sean. Or, that was the original idea! It sort of took on a mind of its own. Companion Piece - This is the biggest (and least written) of the 6 so far. Allie's POV for my Roller Coaster fic
For OBX, I can't lie that I've been a bit paused lately. First, Off Campus took over my soul. But then the trailer dropped and honestly just made me sad all over again haha. My sweet friend @piglemousse requested a God-Papa J fic when I said I was tempted to jump back into things. The words came pretty quick, which was a relief, honestly lol
I haven't touched the Luke fic in a while, but I keep hinting at it in God-Papa J, like maybe I can push myself into that zone. The ideas are still here! I have soooo many. And I still have at least one more fic after that I'd love to write for the Us Against The Universe, More Like series. Part of me is hoping that the show dropping with push me to want to finish up this universe and JJ and Kie's happy ending.
For now, my biggest projects I am hoping to jump back into soon are:
Ghost!JJ - I left things off on the most depressing note with this fic, but part of the next chapter is written! It's another JJ and John B heavy chapter. Potentially all our OGs with Pope as well Kook Year Abortion Fic - Poor Kiara has been trapped in that bathroom for weeks and weeks now! I've got to get her out of there soon because she and JJ still need to work things out! Baby JJ - I haven't touched the JJ and Shoupe fic in a while, but I think we're heading toward a conclusion soon! At least for this first/main fic. I do still want to expand and make this a bigger universe maybe. I have ideas all the way to adulthood for JJ, so I'd love to get deeper into this one.
On a much smaller, one-shot level scale, I do have some other OBX things I'd love to finish. I've probably talked about a lot of (all of???) these before, but if you're interested in any of them, let me know, and I might share some snippets! Again, enjoy my dumb holder titles -
Why Did You Lie - Teenyyyy tiny Jiara scene post Kook Year. Everyone believes JJ's bullshit story about how he gets the bruise... but not Kie. Untitled House Story - So far (for literal months now) this is just ONE scene, but I think about it a lot. Dual timeline between JJ growing up in his house versus when the Pogues rebuild it in S4. This will be the last time you lie to me - After his first kiss with Kie, JJ ends up in a fight with his dad and throws all his walls back up. Jaybe Have a Baby - JJ and John B have a child together. Kind of loll Think more along the lines of, JJ as a sperm donor for Jarah, but the kid is a mini!JJ First Kiss - Kie has her first kiss, and it doesn't go well!
Okay, this was way more than you asked for! BUT it was fun getting to chat about the billions of ideas just rattling around in my brain. Like I said, if you want to know more about any of these or want snippets, I am so down.

Chapter 6 - The Crash, The Dive, All Of It
Kiara’s eyes go soft as JJ hops to his feet just before a tiny wave takes his board. A high-pitched squeal breaks from the small figure holding onto his hands. Then it’s his laughter that carries across the water as he scoops up the tiny brunette with the bright green life jacket. She throws her hands up, completely unaware of the board still moving beneath them on the surface of the water, and shrieks in delight. “Again, again!” Kiara hears just before the second wave hits them.
OBX 5 news, I hate to admit I am curious UGH
Honestly, I’m so unbothered that I’m kinda proud.
I do really miss the fandom though, even though not so much the show at this point.
