sarah replied to your post: i havent been to mass voluntarily in 5 years ive...
One of my friends was raised Catholic but switched to liberal Episcopalian because it was all of the ritual with none of the jerkass dogma! (also her church had mimosas on Easter, which was a selling point) So that could be a thing to try?
i have considered that option lol and i've actually been to an episcopal mass, and it's.......it's hard to describe, but it felt almost Profoundly wrong to me??? not because i in any way look down upon or disrespect the religion oh god no, but BECAUSE it's so close to catholicism? even the words of the mass are so similar to those of the catholic mass that it's jarring to hear the differences; you're constantly reminded of the fact that it's NOT a catholic mass, which............hurt, for some reason
idk, i was raised in the catholic church and obviously to this day i still feel an intense connection to it, its rituals, its icons, and its history. so if i do decide to Do Religion again, i'm almost positive that it will be as a catholic (but as one who is guided primarily by her own conscience on moral and social issues!!!)Â
