As my birthday approaches this Saturday, Iām finally caught up with pieces that were delayed by my flu. Iāve also been researching more of this internet stuff and becoming more comfortable with it, so hopefully no more screw ups about the posts. That being said, itās time to discuss the pics! All of these are for past gemsona prompts.
Beginning in March, these are the 2/3 new members of the Freedom Forgers. The third; because I have a thing about even numbers and wanted a Quartz, will be Dragonās Vein Agate, currently in development. The 2 here are the March gem Mimetite and Turquoise. Their visual design may be altered some as I continue to develop my canon, but their origin stories are concrete. You should be able to read the images. Turquoise is vitally important to the foundation of the Forgers and their universe, and introduces several more characters, including another past monthly gem, Sonora Sunset! Her thumbnail is seen at the bottom, but her look is going to be tweaked because I forgot Chrysocolla was a Quartz!

The final images are really old prompts, the āDiamond Disguiseā Prompt. Originally, I didnāt post these because, tbh I think I can do better. But reviewing them again as I aspire to revisit this theme on my own, my feelings have changed a bit. While I am still not 100% happy, I think it does capture the theme. First is obviously Blue as a Sapphire. Below is a āLooney Tunesā type illustraytion inspired by the Peridot episode featuring Yellow as Jasper leering at the terrified Peridot.
If you havenāt noticed, Wile E. Coyote, Roadrunner and assorted classic characters of the vintage Warner Bros. animations are a big influence on my art in general. All my life my idol has been Chuck Jones, who also is known for the classic āHow the Grinch Stole Christmasā and a childhood favorite, āRikki Tikki Taviā with animation director Maurice Noble.
Finally, I just want to say happy pride month to the LGBTQ community out there! I may not be a member myself but I support and applaud you all for being confident in who you are. Being overweight and covered in bumps and scars from my disease, I wish I had the courage you all inspire me with. This month also marks the second anniversary of the official marriage of my aunt and her wife after being together for 20+ years. Congratulations, I love you both!
