I actually do not know. I mostly lurk on skype and talk to a few people on there, the reverb chat isn't as active as it was for resbang for some reason, and I feel like there's a group chat on skype that some people are on since I always see the same people talking about the same thing together? But I'm not sure about that.Ā

There's no application. If you like Soul Eater and/or have a huge big crush on SoMa, then you're automatically in. This is the most welcoming fandom I've ever been in so everyone's free to join! There's no pre-req's or anything!!

I always like to believe that intentions are good and perhaps it would serve as a good reminder to people to take precautions but...man, it was rough. And yeah, an insurance company probably shouldn't be the ones putting out an ad like that. Though I suppose that people working at an insurance company would know better than anyone how much preventable tragedy there is out there. I don't know.
Having a kid myself it...gives me a really bad feeling. Not something I want to see when having a nice time with my family, especially since I'm pretty sensitive and it was hard enough not to cry at that puppy commercial.

firstly, thank you for posting all that information on publishing earlier today. it was fantastic to read and learn about, and definitely helps to explain the process and the pros/cons/etc. my next question: there are some of us (note: ME FOR SURE) who definitely think you've got the talent (and all else required) to be trade published and have a successful career as an author. what can we do, if anything, to help? are there companies we can contact? places we can promote you? i'd love to know!
Okay well um first you're going to have to excuse me for a second while I draw HEARTS AROUND YOUR NAME OH MY GOD.
This is so, so sweet and I just. I'm a little emotional. REALITY HOUR: I've been really struggling with my writing for the last year or so for reasons I can't get into, but discovering this fandom and doodling around in it and getting the reaction I did... it lit a fire back in me. It made me LOOK FORWARD TO WRITING AGAIN, which is something I haven't felt in a while. Trade publishing is both exhilarating and fucking brutal, so believe me when I say that every comment like this? Jesus Christ, it gets me right in the heart.
As for whether there's anything you can do, unfortunately there's not at this point, though I am just so flattered and awed that you'd offer. Until I have a book deal under my belt, there's not much that can be done in the way of appeals or promotion. But believe me, if that happens, I'm sure I will SCREAM ABOUT IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS :D

Nooooooooope, sorry! I could get into the logistics of self-publishing and how it's actually EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to get more than 100 sales total through the entire lifetime of your novel unless you pump a bunch of your own money into design and marketing and promotion and chasing down reviewers who will actually review self-pub and etc etc etc, but suffice to say it's hard. Really hard.
I mean if you guys want me to do a publishing breakdown for you, I'll be happy to! Both paths (trade and self-pub) have their pros and cons. I've decided, for now, that my choice is trade, which means no publishing online.
