Today was not Charlie's day. It started off with small annoyances, burnt tongue, paper cuts & banged legs, but like any bad day it was just going to get worse. The team have finally tracked down their kidnapper and with him the kidnapped, now murder, victim. 39 year old Mitchell Browen kidnapped and killed 19 year old Sally Kingsley. All because her and his daughter were madly in love. When they found the body of one Gabriella Browen the relief of not yet again tell someone their loved one was dead almost was more then the sorrow of another person lost.

Charlie could not yet let himself fully process the horrors of the world. Instead he covered for Joe as he went home to hug and reassure himself she was still safe from the world. So all Charlie could do was paper work. The heavy task only lightened by Rex's presence by his feet, instead of the K9's usually spot.

Hours passed as the sky darkens as paper work is complete. With no excuse left he decided to leave the empty room for an empty home; praying that Rex's continued presence will help him tonight.

However, on their way to the final door out Rex walked away followed by a "Charlie!" Turning towards the shout he saw Sarah and Jesse petting Rex.

"Hey! What are you two still doing here?"

"After the day we had I believe a movie night is in order"

"What do you say Rex? Pizza's on me!"

"Bark!"

As Jesse and Rex made their way to the door, Charlie turned to Sarah,

"You waited for me?"

"Of course we did Charlie."

With Sarah joining Jesse and Rex, Charlie took a moment to look at the three most important people in his life.

"Hey! Hurry up else Rex will it all the pizza!"

And for the first time that day Charlie smiled as he jogged to catch up.
