Hi here's a prompt: Andrew keeps insisting it's 'nothing' right? So now Neil is hell bent on making him admit that it isn't, so he's trying various things to do so, including making him jealous.
First, Iâm sorry this took so long! Second, I know this is probably not what you had in mind and Iâm sorry for that. This is just where my mind took it, and I think I just didnât want to see Neil making Andrew mad on purpose to get him to admit it bc Iâm fragile okay I HOPE THIS IS FINE.

Andrewâs mouth was cold.
Usually, it was warm, and Neil knew it would warm up soon enough, but heâd been sucking on an ice cube right before they kissed, and Neil was enjoying the novelty of a cold mouth on his own.
They were at the Columbia house in their room, in their bed, in their feelings. Neil was, anyway. He suspected Andrew was too, but heâd never admit it.
That was the thing though, wasnât it? Theyâd been doing this for a year now. Theyâd been together practically every second. Theyâd stood together and fought together and taken each other apart together, after slowly and carefully building trust bit by bit.
Neil pulled away from Andrewâs mouth, panting slightly. Andrew turned his attention to Neilâs neck instead, and he had to fight against the urge to close his eyes.
âHey.â Andrew stopped and looked at him. âOne of the soccer guys asked if you were my boyfriend.â
Andrewâs face didnât change. âSo?â
Neil shrugged. âI didnât know what to tell him.â
âYou? At a loss for words? Wonders never cease.â Andrew didnât lean down to kiss Neil again, and Neil knew he wouldnât. Heâd wait until it was made clear that Neil wanted to keep going. He sat up instead. They faced each other on the bed and Neil looked down to the soft black blanket Andrew kept on it because he liked rubbing his feet against it at night.
âSeriously, though. What should I have said? Are we?â
âAre we what?â
âBoyfriends?â
CREATOR BIRTHDAY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JENI!!!!
Happy birthday to the absolute BEST CREATIVE PARTNER I LITERALLY COULD HAVE EVER ASKED FOR.Â
@jeni182, my best frennn, my creative partner, my soulmate, I am so fucking lucky and happy to have met you. You literally keep me tf together when Iâm buggin, and when itâs justified you gas me up and support me literally through anything and everything. We work so well together and even when weâre losing steam, we get each other going again.Â
Seriously, everyone. Jeni is fucking one of a kind and Red Rabbits would not be ANYTHING without her. Jeni, you are the fucking backbone of this project. Seriously guys, she does so fucking much. Every fucking storytime, every Neil and Andrew ask, every goddamn chapter is written the way it is because of JENI. For those of you that donât know, Jeni and I plan the chapters together, and then Jeni goes wild and writes the entire thing. I then go in after to rewrite to add more detail, but I joke all the time now that Iâm pretty much a glorified editor at this point because our writing styles have just merged into one. And itâs true. Red Rabbis would be NOTHING without you. I really donât know how you do it and I know I tell you all the time, but you seriously fucking blow me away.Â
Please, please, please go wish @jeni182 the happiest birthday ever. She really fucking deserves it. I honestly donât know what Iâd do without you and Iâve grown so much in the time of knowing you. Youâre seriously the big sister Iâve never had and bitch. Iâll be your ride or die for LIFE.Â
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BB!!!!!!Â

This is from a prompt request I got on Tumblr about Neil trying to get Andrew to admit it's not nothing.
Bookmarker's Notes:
THIS.
THIS is how the conversations went. I'm sure of it.
Details I loved: the soccer player, Neil's flashcards, that guy w/a nose + some name, and the truth telling on the roof.
@jeni182 W O W. Thank you so much for this piece of perfection.
Kiss
Andrew did not like kissing.
It seemed wholly unnecessary. The goal was to get off with as little touching as possible. Having his face smashed against someone elseâs just to put his tongue in their mouth seemed both disgusting and counterproductive.
Roland loved to kiss. He was always reaching for Andrew, grabbing him by the shoulders and trying to pull him forward. Andrew allowed it sometimes. Sometimes he just wanted to see if he cared to, sometimes it was just to indulge Roland so this whole thing could be over quicker. He wasnât one to make it last. He enjoyed it, sure. He wouldnât do it if he didnât. But the fact of the matter was, the men heâd gotten off with were tools for him to meet his needs, and thatâs it.
So, why? Why was it that he felt so fucking desperate sometimes, to kiss Neil? He fucking hated him, and 50% of the reason was because Andrew wanted him so badly. The other 50% was because he knew Neil would never want him back.
The first time Andrew kissed him, when the dam finally broke and he couldnât fucking take it anymore, he hated every second of it. Neilâs lips were chapped, and he tasted like cigarettes and he raised his hands like he wanted to pull on Andrew, too.
But he didnât.

Unspoken
Andrew Minyard was not good with words.
Actually, scratch that. Andrew Minyard was very good with words. Cutting remarks and biting insults and sarcastic responses. He was very good at all of those. It was the simpler words he had problems with.
Words like love and relationship and trust.
âHey,â Neil said, knocking Andrewâs shoulder with his own. They were on the roof, as they usually were this time of night. âWhat are you thinking?â
Iâll miss you when I graduate. I wish you could come with me. I donât want to lose this.
Instead, Andrew took a long drag of his cigarette. Instead, Andrew shrugged too tight shoulders. Instead, Andrew wrapped a hand around the back of Neilâs neck and brought him in for a cigarette laced kiss. It was the only thing he knew how to say right now.
When he pulled back, Neil was grinning. âIs that what you were thinking?â Andrew shoved him back with a hand to his face and took another drag of his cigarette.
****
âI donât know how to say words.â
Bee raised a brow at him. âNo? Iâd say you have a gift with words, Andrew. Iâve never head someone describe things as succinctly and as to the point as you do.â
âThatâs not what I mean.â Andrew shook his head. He didnât even know how to say this to Bee. He sighed and rubbed his face. Played with the edge of an armband. Jiggled a leg. Bee watched him patiently, waiting for him to get his thoughts in order.
âIâm graduating soon.â Bee nodded. âNeil is not.â She nodded again. âI donât know how to say words.â
âAh,â Bee said, finally getting it. âYou would like to express some things to Neil, but you donât know how to put them into words. Is that it?â
Andrew gave a tight nod.
He tried to show the words physically. He could feel them, when they were alone, and it was dark, and they were tangled together in sheets with warm breaths and gentle hands. He tried to say so much in those moments, because he couldnât say it out loud.
A kiss behind Neilâs ear. I want you. A finger lightly trailing a scar. Youâre perfect. A hand on a jaw, foreheads touching, breaths mingling. I love you.
Was it enough?
âIâm worried,â Andrew told Bee. âFor when Iâm gone, and Neil is here. Weâll have to communicate via phone calls and skype andâŚâ Bee waited patiently again. âI just want to be able to say it out loud when weâre not in the same place. Iâm worried itâll be different.â Iâm worried he wonât want me anymore.
âHmmm,â Bee nodded and made a note of something. âWell, there are a lot of other ways for you to say things to him. I think Neil probably knows that speaking your emotions and feelings out loud is not something you claim to be proficient in. And I think he would understand that, even when youâve left PSU. But letâs talk about some ways you can express what youâre feeling without having to put it into words out loud.â
Quiet
Life was loud.
Life was loud and so was Andrew's head. It churned, grey and cold like an ocean during a storm. He closed his eyes against it.Â
                                             Quiet now.
Quiet now and hush. Hush the thoughts and noises and clamor.
                                             Hush.Â
Hush, Neil said. I'm here now. Go to sleep. It was a whisper, a susurration in the deep black of night. In the deep black of mind.Â
                                            Whisper now.
Whisper, whisper now. Nothings. Not sweet because neither of them had the faculties to be sweet. But nothings in his ear about things that did not matter. Would never matter. Because all that mattered, really, was this.
Andrew can I touch you?
Andrew can I touch you here? A finger over his heart.Â
                                            Yes.Â
Andrew can I touch you here?
A hand in his hair, firm and soothing.Â
                                            Yes.Â
Yes or no, Andrew? Can you touch me here? Â
                                            Yes.Â
Yes, he would touch Neil there. And here. And the spot right there just so, softly and then harder. This was quiet.Â
                                             Quiet.
This was quiet and it was not. It was harsh breaths and soft moans. Tiny sips of each other's mouths and hard grips of each other's bodies. Skin meeting skin and clothes being shed and still.
Still, it was so quiet.Â
                                              And after.
After when hearts stopped racing and sweat cooled, it was Andrew's favorite time.Â
Because the ocean was calm. And because
                                             it
                                              was
                                                 Quiet.
