I was really hoping this wouldn’t have to be said in the year of 2020, and yet here we are.
Please, everyone, remember this is all just for fun over fictional characters, exercise a little empathy and the amazing art of staying in your lane and letting others enjoy the things they do even if they are different from you!
Ship wars are pointless and do nothing but harm others and turn a fandom toxic. This fandom has been great about this up until now, let’s not ruin it less than one month before the release, please and thank you!
this hurt on another level
Call my name and save me from the dark
A/N: Hello all! I have posted fics/one shots before on a03 so I thought I should post one on here, please enjoy!
Lucie was shaking. Full body shaking, not shivering. She didn’t know if it was from the sting of cold night London air or from the energy she had to exert to make this spell work.
Necromancy was not easy and she could feel the heaviness in her bones. It had taken so long to collect all the necessary ingredients to perform the ritual. From heading up Shadow Markets late at night when everyone was in bed to ordering from Warlock run stores, Lucie had done lot’s of lying and hiding these past months. Everything had been so illegal and her chest ached not being able to confide in her family or parabatai
Not to mention all those late nights reading what little she had acquired on failed and successful Necromancy. Every night she prayed to Raziel that no servant or family member would find the loose floorboard of illegal books.
Glancing towards the shed she let out a shuddering breath.
Would Jesse be okay?
She could feel tears rolling down her cheeks as she stood up on unsteady legs. She stood in the rundown yard of the Blackthorn home, the remnants of the ritual she had just done stood out in front of her like a scarlet letter.
Oh Raziel what had she done? The Clave would surely punish her and Grace severely, no matter if Aunt Charlotte was consul. What were they to do? What could they do? It’s not as if they could deny it … if it worked.
“You are shaking,” Grace says, examining the other girl in front of her. “You should have worn something other than a silken dress, Lucie.”
Grace’s words felt like poison.
“Shut it!” Lucie snaps, sniffling a little. “We just committed treason, Grace, treason.”
“I know,” Grace snarls, glaring at the other woman. “But we made our choice, we knew the risks and the possible costs. Whatever happens now we need to take in stride. But we brought him back, or at least we think we brought him back and that’s what matters/” The acid from Grace’s voice fades into something more gentle and calming, the anger in her face disappearing in seconds.
“Do you think we succeeded?” Lucie whispers, motioning towards the old shed where Jesse’s coffin lay.
“I-I don’t know.” Grace croaks, bringing her own arms to wrap around herself and finally showing the slightest bit of fear, something Lucie didn’t think the other girl showed anyone.
THUD
“Oh Raziel.” Lucie gasps, flinging herself backwards.
What if Jesse came back as something half human, not himself. Not anything like the ghost boy she knew?
“That’s him.” Grace says, a cautious smile on her face as she creep towards the shed.
“Grace!” Lucie hisses, beckoning the other girl to come back. “Grace!”
“Lucie we can’t just let him suffocate in that coffin! He can’t get out himself and we need to see what has become of him.” Grace informs her, steady and calm.
She was far too calm for Lucie’s liking.
Lucie swallows a lump in her throat as she follows Grace, quite a few steps behind her. Did she really want to know? Everything would feel so awful if they failed and Lucie didn’t know if she could handle it. This had been a long time coming and she didn’t know if she could try again.
Grace flung the door open, carelessly and Lucie let out another breath as the thumping grew louder. It was the sounds of fists banging on glass and Lucie’s heart rate spiked. Grace ran towards the coffin and rushed to open it.
Jesse, in all his glory, shot up from the coffin, wide eyed and breathing hard. He looked panicked and terrified and confused.
Lucie couldn’t blame him, after all he’d been dead for so long.
“Jesse?” Grace hesitates.
“Grace? Lucie?”
Lucie let out a noise between a sob and a cheer, something completely indistinguishable but she ran forwards to the Blackthorn boy.
Shoving past Grace, in a very un-lady like fashion, she cries “Jesse!”
She reached her hand out, tentatively, to touch his face.He flinched but allowed her to place her small scarred hand on his cheek. He was cold, and his face felt thin and angular underneath her warm palm but he was breathing and he was alive.
“What have you done?” He whispers, only to her.
“Brought you back to me.” Lucie answers, tears in her eyes.
Blue eyes met and green and for just a second things felt okay.
Kit : so you have been in a relationship with a Blackthorn?
Ghost!Lucie : yep
Kit : lit! Can I have some suggestions?

Lucie: Do you ever look at someone
Lucie: And wonder what is going on inside their head?
Jesse: *thinking* Has Lucie noticed that I cheated when we played monopoly?
Lucie: I want a divorce, Jesse.
They really won me over in this book 🥺
I'm really not gonna accept anything other than a Jordelia, Thomastair, Arianna and Jussie (Jecie? Blackdale? Ghostwriter? yall need to pick a name) endgame. This is the hill I choose to die on.
