“save me from the moster in my head” by Welshly Arms is a jordelia song and no one can convince me otherwise. It is literally James about Cordelia.
I dont know but somehow I relate to all the gays, queers, and gender weirdos in Chain of Gold
Chain of Thorns coming November 1, 2022

Matthew: It’s sad when you go to the kitchen and find out you’re the only snack in the house.
Matthew Fairchild rant
When I first read Chain of Gold and Chain of Iron I was kind of indifferent to Matthew. He was a side character, James’ parabatai, troubled kid with a devastating past and a drinking problem. There was nothing to draw me to him initially. I was so focused on the main story that I couldn’t spare an ounce of attention to this Math dude who seemed content to endure his guilt all on his own.
Then I re-read the books. And my heart started breaking each time Matthew drank, covered his pain behind laughs and flirting, interacted with characters that had no idea about the burden Matthew’s been carrying for years. There was something that drew me to him during the re-read of CoG2 and CoI. He was so lonely, looking at the world through a glass. Happy, but not really with his drinking habits. Compassionate, eager to put others first and help them however he can. Matthew is a pure soul tainted by a trick played on him. The whole flamboyant facade hurts to read about. I’m happy he found a confidant in Cordelia, that Matthew had the courage to lay out his heart in front of her. I’m not sure if his love for her is true or if he’d be the right fit for Cordelia and the other way around. All I know is that I want Matthew to be happy. I don’t care if it’s in a relationship with Cordelia, but it has to be for the right reasons.
My thoughts are not at all coherent. I can’t properly flesh out the things that draw me to Matthew and make me adore him.
Ugh, there are so many questions that Chain of Thorns has to answer. Reading the Shadowhunter books and stories in chronological order leaves me questioning a lot of stuff
