“too much sound per pound” is a very funny and good way to put it about mcr. i love them but their appeal to me is insane lyrics, gerard screaming, and ray toro bludgeoning my ears in with his sick guitar riffs. i like the noise. not for the faint of constitution.
I like the songs with a normal amount of sound per pound! But mostly it’s too much sound per pound for me. But I respect the gig. I am nodding to them politely as they pass me in eyeliner and special outfits and I am going home to tell my kid I saw them mcr boys they like on the subway
have you ever watched tragically cancelled 2 season 9 episode television show in the flesh (featuring 3 actors who would go on to be in the terror) and if so what are your thoughts on its use of zombies as a storytelling&allegorical choice?
YEAH in classic me fashion i watched the first season and like maybe a few episodes of season 2 but never ended up finishing it. at the time i had MANY thoughts and ultimately i don't think the metaphor is entirely successful because they sort of pulled a zootopia in the sense that it's weird to try and do an. obvious stand-in for an oppressed group when the stand-in is like. genuinely dangerous or at least was in the recent past? like zombies... eat people... so it's weird to do a show about like acceptance of zombies (read: gay and mentally ill ppl) when they very much. do eat people. whereas gay and mentally ill ppl. do not do that. there is no downside or danger to social acceptance of real life marginalized groups whereas social acceptance of zombies IS potentially materially dangerous and even lethal... so it just feels like an incongruency that i never quite got over. like the whole plotline with jemima where she's painted as like. regressive and stuck in her ways for being militantly anti-zombie WHILE STILL having ptsd-flashbacks of watching her brother eat someone's face in a supermarket aisle IM SORRY i don't buy it. she doesn't have to love zombies!! leave her alone! i liked the show though i love zombies i love the concept of a suicide foiled by rising from the dead i love david walmsley i love heavyhanded scenes of gay people looking in mirrors with self hatred in their eyes... 10/10

I haven’t rewatched in the flesh in probably five years but I will NEVER get out of my head the utter romance and devotion of “you should see him — he’s beautiful” which is also SO deeply and utterly cas! raise your hand if you are a weird creature in possession of a human body tasked with identifying the guy Your Cause needs to carry out their righteous plan for a new reality born in bloodshed! keep your hand raised if you choose to go against your entire worldview for that same guy because you meet him and new galaxies are born when he teaches you how to choose love over everything else!

yep, i’ve been hearing about it all day :( it’s a damn shame, the current cast had some of the sharpest & funniest people in years, people like Rekha Shankar, Brennan Lee Mulligan, Katie Marovitch, Mike Trapp, Grant O’Brien, Ally Beardsley, and so many others
the only upside to this is that I know they’ll all land on their feet and find great writing jobs elsewhere the same way the first generation of ch writers did, keep in mind 3 CH writers went on to work for snl (Streeter Seidell, Sarah Schneider, Will Stephen) so the possibilities for these hilarious weirdos are endless
