PRI and a 'Can't Miss' Benefit Concert
Day 80 - Our first Partnership Resources Inc. exposure was at an inspiring performance of 'Born for the Stage', a show featuring performances from Hairspray, the musical. If the PRI ‘Hairspray’ actors were good enough to attract the Tony Award winning director of the original Broadway show, how could we not show up? It was amazing. This work proved to me that development disabilities had nothing to do with how high the bar could be set for a creative product from inspired and inspiring individuals.
Since then, we’ve learned that PRI provides other opportunities and employement for more than 250 adults who have developmental disabilities. They’re also doing a vital job of changing attitudes by creating bridges to others in the community. An art program partnering with the Wayzata schools is one example. Another is the art exhibit, “Challenging Perceptions: PRI Artists Focus on the Walker Art Center”. The work, now exhibited in the Campbell Mithun Tower, is the result of a collaboration with PRI artists and a curator of the Walker’s permanent art collection. Now it’s your turn. There is a wonderful concert opportunity coming up this weekend with both Saturday and Sunday performances; tickets reasonably priced at $25 adults and $15 for students. The concert features the community’s acclaimed Steele family and beloved Robert Robertson. Also on the program: the MacPhail Community Youth Choir, MacPhail Suzuki String Ensemble and members of PRI’s Theatre Program. It’s a hot ticket.
Proceeds benefit the work of PRI. It is excellent work.
