Jay was already in front of the Magic Shop, waiting for her. He'd been aching, wanting to see her, craving her touch and her scent since he'd left that night, but he knew he didn't deserve it. All of it was a mess, and he shouldn't have taken up the responsibility of her. He should have done the math: The probability of being possessed three times in your life is slim to nothing, but the likelihood exponentially increases when you hang out and live with a demon.

He was stupid, so stupid, and now bad things had happen. He'd proven that he could hurt her, and that he was a danger; which was bad. She'd fallen in love with him; which was worse, but the worst of it all was that he'd fallen in love with her too.

It was a familiar scene, one Jay had experienced a couple of times but only once had Oriane been aware. The room was dark, and she was asleep, and Jay was standing at the edge of the bed, watching silently. He'd stood there for perhaps an hour, staring at every inch he could view of her. It helped that she was fully-clothed, but he still didn't have that barrier between them, a sheet or blanket or anything.

He'd entered without a problem, phasing through the door as if it were air. It made him nervous that she couldn't even keep him away, but maybe he could make arrangements to safeguard her house with something effective. 

She was so fragile here, curled into the fetal position, nearly tempting his darkness with her stance. Part of him wanted to move her, but he knew touching her would either alarm her or entice him to harm her when he could feel the corruptible energy on his fingertips.

There are people that say it's unsafe to blindfold a girl and put her on the back of a motorcycle, and then there is Jay. Assuring Oriane it was perfectly safe as long as she didn't lean or freak out, he, she, and Cherry wheeled down the road. It was a much shorter distance than their other travels, the travels being to find her food, so whatever their secret destination was, it was closer to Jay's underground home than usual.

"Careful, now." He lifted her off the back of the bike. Since their first night together Jay had gotten Oriane more practical clothing, jeans and nice sweaters and shirts that were more becoming on her than the skimpy dress she settled for before. Now it had been a couple of months of Jay sleeping on the couch, making sure demons hadn't possessed the girl he kept guard over, and he thought she was ready for some fresh air. Guiding her up some stairs carefully, he opened the door to a fully-furnished apartment he'd rented her, complete with toiletries and clothes and food, everything she would need to make it livable. Untying the bandana he'd used to hide her eyes, he let her peek at the gift he had for her and stood, grinning at her like a fool. "Surprise!" He beamed, "What do you think?"
