To their credit, though, Nittaās agency actually stuck with her throughout this whole debacle (Japanese agencies will often drop talent like a hot brick at the first sign of controversy), and there was a lot of positive support coming from the community as well. Ultimately, not a lot came out of it - her agency pursued legal action against the tabloid and the fandom did an unusual amount of self-policing in trying to curb the Otaku Bullshit. The first iteration of the Love Live franchise was already ending right around this time (including the seiyuu contracts), and sheād been moving on to some new projects anyway. But it was a close call that absolutely couldāve blown up into a much bigger shitshow had any of the parties involved acted differently.
