23. What are your OC's biggest flaws and biggest strengths? - Wendy.
Wendy's an interesting one in that she's one of the most flawed SMQ characters but one of the strongest ones too which made me think rlly heavily on this one.
For her 'fatal flaw' (I consider all SMQ characters to be tragic heroes, so I'm calling it a fatal flaw.) I'd probably say it's how vulnerable she can be? She's a very emotional person, she may try and hide it from some, but when she wears her heart on her sleeve she wears it for daws to pick at (peep me w the Shakespeare quote oh i am gonna ace my English exam). She's incredibly sensitive and finds herself easily upset. She's certainly not a stereotypical Edwardian woman in that she can and will show her emotions and speak her mind no matter what. She's not afraid to cry or get angry, which may bring her downfall, someday. As I said, tragic heroine.
For her key strength, I have to go for the quintessential Wendy Darling trait, that I hope I've expanded on in SMQ; her maternal and protective tendencies. She'll do anything to keep those she loves safe or happy, no matter what that means to her. She joins the WSPU for her daughter's future, despite her hatred of politics. Even though it goes against her principles and personal views, she respects John's choice to not meet his daughter for a year. She immediately switches from Pro-War to vehemently Anti-War when Michael dies. She quits the white feather brigade after seeing the damage it caused to one of her adopted brothers. Etc. This CAN cross over into flaw territory in that she might set herself on fire to keep others warm, but her love of her family always comes first, she will always put others before herself.
18. A memory that still makes your OC angry. - Jane
Oh god this was hard. I was thinking about Utrique at first. Her dissociation into an imaginary world only for it to disappear in front of her eyes, including Peter's misunderstanding of it all. But I'm sure you already know this.
One thing that angers Jane, though. Oh god, is people talking about her parents' marriage. Her uncles calling it gross. Her cousins finding it weird how her parents don't even hold hands. Conversations she's overheard. It makes her want to hit people (as does many things. She doesn't really get emotional outlets that don't involve hitting people.) "You don't understand! They're so different at home!" She lies through her teeth. In the same vein, she gets irrationally angry when she sees her uncles and aunts get along. She can't stand it.
One memory that still makes her fists twitch is one time when she slept over at her uncle John's house (She does often. It's basically her second home.) and her cousin May turned to her late at night and asked "Jane, why don't your mummy and daddy love eachother?" Jane slapped her hard across the face, which made May cry, and then her aunt ran in to console her daughter as Jane sobbed into a pillow. She hates thinking about it.
19. A memory that still makes your OC sad. - Slightly
A lot of things, to be fair. Water addiction-gate. Class IV. Getting diagnosed w 'Sugar' in 1902 (type 1 diabetes 💀 reminder it was still usually fatal back then, kid was terrified), his whole attitude during the war, not to mention all the Nell shenanigans... hell, even things from the Neverland days keep this man up at night.
I'm gonna pick a particularly sour memory which took place freshly after old Nelly topped herself. Wendy'd apologised for the white feather, and was actually trying to comfort him. So, Slightly spent a whole lot of time at the Darling house. One night, he showed up sloshed out of his mind, lost his shit with Wendy. ("I wish you'd never ever ever ever come to the Island when you were little because then you've never taken us home and I'd be dead! I'd rather be dead than have ever set foot in London, do you hear me!? Dead, alright!?") before he stumbled upstairs to the bathroom, threw up, and passed out (in the hallway outside of Jane's room, to make matters worse)
Wendy approached him about this incident a few weeks later, and he refuses to believe it happened, especially when he realised Jane probably saw... yknow... that side of him. He beats himself up about this a lot, he hates how much of an asshole he can be sometimes, he know's he's a bastard.
Okay so that was all wayyy too long but this was sm fun albeit angsty and i really wanna do some more of these, thank you again jay <3333
