Flora could still feel the strange aura from the prism. It all happened so long ago - why was it that he still felt everything?

With a sigh they sat at the dinner table. He could dwell over this later. Maybe eating would even help them.

He was pulled from their thoughts as plates clanked against the wood, and Jay sat down across from him. They’d made a simple supper, but Flora appreciated it either way. 

He fiddled with the fork for a while, contemplating his thoughts. Suddenly, they didn’t feel hungry anymore. Jay seemed to take notice.

“Gami? You haven’t eaten, you look shaken up,” they remarked, “Is something wrong?”

“I guess. It’s not anything too bad,” he replied, “Only a bit distressing. I’ll survive.”

He didn’t get quite the reaction they wanted, instead receiving a frown from his partner. However, they didn’t pry further, and instead brought Flora’s dish to the counter, covering it in clear plastic wrap.

“I’ll save this for you, if you feel hungry later,” they said, walking to him and putting a paw on their shoulder.

He didn’t even notice the pink aura around their paw before a wave of calmness crashed onto them. It was so subtle, and yet he noticed it like one would notice an out-of-place object.

“You don’t have to tell me anything,” Jay reassured them, “But I don’t want to see you in distress, Gami. You can come to me for anything.”

He nodded, as they walked away and out of vision.
