My passion for illustration has been around since I was a little girl. I still remember how I loved to see the illustrations in the books and then imagine thousands of stories with them. I also remember very well that when I was little, I used to go out to my garden in my parent's house in El Salvador, right in the Xochilt neighborhood, to collect the petals that the flowers had dropped ... I wanted to help those petals to have a chance to continue living and then I would collect them and create images with them or put them all together in a bottle full of oils, which I used to aromatize my room ... Do not despair, what I am telling you has to do with childhood, that state in which we learn and we are inspired with innocence… I like that feeling of truth and wonder in the eyes of the little ones. Possibly, that's where my taste for children's book illustration comes from. Having said that, I share this illustration by Jay Fleck, an illustrator from Shorewood, Illinois. This illustration comes from “Tilly and Tank”, a sweet and funny picture book that looks at the blossoming friendship between an elephant and a tank and encourages kids to make friends, not war. Hopefully, before arguing or fighting, we would offer flowers and peace to the people that surrounds us. Wars are good for nothing but to kill us, so why seek war and harm to the people around us? Love is what can actually change our world, I believe it faithfully.
