Tragedy struck in the waters of Western Australia (On October 22, 2001) when a shark killed an America diver. The diver, George Thomas Wainwright, 32, of Houston Texas was in a boat when the shark attacked. Witnesses say that they noticed a "flurry of bubbles" before seeing the body surface with very traumatic injuries.
Wainwright was the third person killed in seven weeks by a shark and the fourth in 14 months. Authorities in that area have issued a catch and kill order on the alleged shark. This order was enacted to make the waters safer. Department of Fisheries regional manager Tony Cappelluti said. "The intention is for us to set some gear at the site of the attack and see if we can capture the shark. The policy is that if there's a clear and present danger that we can take a great white."
Oh REALLY?
I don't want to sound insensitive but I have to be honest. Why do people get so surprised whenever a shark attacks and kills an individual? I mean, let's be real, people. If you go into an area that is dangerous and you are harmed, who's fault is it? If you go into a neighborhood (that is known for muggings, killings and rapes) trying to sell girlscout cookies for your daughter and you get harmed in any way, don't you think you deserve some of the blame? Yes, there are bad people and areas on this planet. If you didn't know that, maybe you should read the newspapers or check the news once in awhile.
But the situation concerning the shark is similar but in some ways different. You know the mentality of a Great White. He (or she) doesn't discriminate. The shark doesn't care if you're black, white, yellow, green or red; food is food and once he gets a taste of you he wants more. Not only that, just like on our soil, they have their little gangs also. This may sound like a joke but they come in packs just like the Crips and the Bloods.
(For the mis-informed, "Crips" and "Bloods" are gangs that DO exist and will bust your ass at the drop of a dime)
Back to the business..
The ocean-life communicates just like we do. They know what they are doing. Like on our soil, each group has its own thing. Crustaceans (crabs, lobsters, crayfish, etc) hang with each other, Sharks hang with each other, and so on and so forth. Do you think that the ocean life is so stupid that they don't communicate and say to each other, "I see one of those land creatures. He's trying to catch us for some reason. Let's get his ass when he jumps in the water." I mean, look. You have big boats that drop gigantic nets into the water. When that happens the ocean life takes off. They are not scattering to tell their friends that the "land people" are giving them a ride to the land. They are scattering because they know they are about to be taken to a place that they know they'll never return from.
We (humans) are NOT the most superior life on the planet. I don't care what the scientists say.
What gets me about the whole thing is that people want to hunt down the Great Whites so they don't kill anyone else who steps into THEIR habitat.
WHAT?!!
Wait a minute. You go into THEIR habitat, get eaten up and then want to eliminate them? Something is wrong with that. It's bad enough that we go into THEIR habitat to hunt them for sport or just to place on our table. Now we want to hunt them because they killed someone who jumped into their waters? Using that logic we are saying that no one is safe from us. In the words of Katt Williams (with a little bit of editing because of the mammal type):
"If you're a grown motherf*****..
and you get killed..
and you get killed by a shark..
and you get killed by a shark in the ocean waters, I feel God's Will has been done for your life. That's exactly what's supposed to happpen.
If you raise a child at any age that's dumb enough to climb in the water where a Great White swims, then you need to tell them the rest of the story: 'then the shark eat your a**hole out, and that's the end!'"
So tell me: How the hell are you going to get mad at the shark? You are in HIS waters, not yours. We live on land. If we go down in the waters and hunt for food and we get our a** eaten up by a shark or some Piranha then we can't get mad at anyone but ourselves. Don't walk on hot coals and not expect to get burned.
