I just started s4 of Professor T (BBC) and there is so much potential for angst/no comfort in the season start.
How are there only 10 fics for this show on AO3? How has fandom missed the wagyu slab of angst beef sitting right there in front of your faces?
How has no one explored grief through Jasper's desperate intellectualizing or Dan's gaunt and haunted bed? How has no one seen the golden opportunity for Dan to be unable to visit his almost father in law, to have to swallow the glass shards of his heart when Jackson asks when Lisa is stopping by? Or how Jasper sneaks into his mother's studio to try art therapy?
How others watch them shatter and try to put themselves back together again? How Dan - dear, sweetheart, high EQ Dan - reaches out to Jasper, hoping desperately to find solace and is met with locks gates and unanswered calls?
How Jasper tries to go to Lisa's funeral and finds himself reaching for his razor instead, then shakily crawling back into that dreadful wine cellar, pressing a shaking finger on Dr. Goldberg's speed dial number, the phone just close enough on the floor that he hears where she should have said hello, but far enough away that she can't hear his descent into a panic attack, insisting she collect a copy of his house key. After she talks him into his room. Before she walks out to give an anxious Ms. Slacks his razor and requests she stay for a few days.
Why hasn't anyone written the scene of Lisa's funeral? The one where Jackson forgets the date and shudders though big, heaving sobs, asking how he's going to take care of Lisa. How Dan has to hold Jackson up as he loses strength, silent tears coursing down his face because he can't bear to tell Jackson that Lisa's dead. Again. Wonders how she did this day in and day out by herself. How he buried is down beneath the pain and anger and locks it away until he's cold, cold, cold.
