CHAPTER 1
>> CHP 2
Y/N did not expect her life to turn out the way it has. She led a normal life, as normal one can be, at the age of twenty one. Like most her age she was confused on what she wanted in life. What she knew was she wanted to be an artist. Thatâs something she always knew.
At the start of the year her grandfather Quil Ateara III passed unexpectedly. It was a huge loss for not only her family but the community of La Push. Y/nâs home reservation, where her grandfather had served on council for many years, a well respected elder.
As If any of it wasnât enough for y/n the family decided to read his will. Discovering he had left her with the estate and property under her name. Yet it was never brought it up to her in their many visits. Shocking the whole family it caused an uproar.
Her own mother was surprised at this news. Everyone figured heâd leave everything to at least one of his children. Her grandmother Molly was the only one not surprised. Instead she ensured that y/n would move in by the end of the season. And that no one could argue since it was her husbands will.
Even if it was passed onto her mother, or her many uncles and aunts, no one wanted to uproot their lives to live in the house. In fact the family was ready and planning to sell the house. Deciding to split the money between everyone and cut their losses on the property. But her grandparents wouldnât have any of it happen.
And so it was y/n was on her way to her ânewâ house. Her grandmother Molly had already moved in to her sisters home. As a way of keeping an eye on each other now that theyâre both older.
For y/n it was all so fast but an opportunity would never come like this again. For she had been desperate for a place on her own. A studio apartment wasnât an ideal space for someone who loved, well, space.
It was a three story house with a wrap around porch. Fit with five bedrooms and one bathroom. As she drove y/n thought of how expensive and difficult it could get to maintain such a house. But she figured sheâd at least try before trying to get a roommate.
Although it was all new and quite stressful to think of. Y/n was excited to be back in her beloved home of La Push. She had only visited a few times throughout each year. And as of late she hadnât been around much with life catching up to her.
Driving down the same old roads she couldnât help but feel nostalgic. How many summers she spent here and what good memories were made. The scenery was always something y/n favoured especially the tall beautiful pine trees.
Despite the constant downpour of rain it made y/n happy. Even just the smell of rain and dirt made her smile. It was a moment y/n wanted to savour for herself, entering the reservation, it felt like she never left.
The road was wet from soft rain throughout the day. The clouds blocking the sun from shining. Looking at the sides of the road the hairs on her neck suddenly spiked. A weird feeling in her gut began to twist and turn.
As she looked on each sides of the road it felt eerie. Although she drove down familiar roads it didnât feel right. As if there were eyes peering a hole in the back of her neck. Rubbing the spot in comfort she tried shaking off the unsettling feeling.
After all she was stressed and tired after a long drive she convinced herself. Upon seeing the house she was relieved. Her grandma was supposed to be here before her. But her car wasnât parked in the driveway.
Parked in the car y/n sat awaiting for either the eerie feeling to go away or for her grandmother to arrive. As she sat and decided, she noticed in the window stacks of boxes, she had sent her stuff beforehand. With the help of her cousins they moved everything inside.
Impatient and no longer anxious she got out of the car. The property has a clear and neat tree line. The backyard was a huge open field filled with wild flowers. Although at the moment it was still too early in the spring for such flowers. The field sat in colours of yellows and browns.
Y/n searched around the area in case of anything. Taking a short moment to look. With nothing around she headed inside. Deciding to unpack until her grandma arrived. She grabbed the rest of her belongings from the trunk.
Sure enough It didnât take long for her grandma to pull up in the driveway. As y/n headed outside to meet her she felt even more relief. Seeing the soft smile on her grandmaâs face brought her comfort.
âMy girl! Youâre finally homeâ she said into her neck as they hugged tightly. âYep! Finally home for goodâ y/n replied holding onto her grandmothers hands. The two headed inside to catch up with one another.
Her grandmother Molly and her were always close no matter the distance. In times of need she always called her for advice. To be living more close to her was a blessing in itself.
âI wouldâve been here long time ago but I had a meeting. It ran longer than it was supposed toâ Grandma Molly took her grandfathers place on council once he passed. As she felt it was her responsibility to him and the community. The people had also unanimously agreed for her to take the position.
âItâs alright grandma it gave me extra time to unpackâ which was mainly just her clothes. Scanning the room over the endless boxes her grandma fussed over y/n.
âThereâs plenty of time for you to do that. Now that youâre homeâ her grandma smiled warmly once more. âYouâre right but itâs just I need groceriesâ y/n replied as she looked around the fridge.
âI left you plenty of dry goods in the cabinets. But I took what was in the fridge and freezer. I figured weâd go now and shop for something more freshâ y/n wasnât surprised at her grandmas smart and thoughtful thinking.
Agreeing the two stepped out of the house. Only to be met with the arrival of her cousin Quil Ateara V. Pulling up in his black truck he wore a cheeky grin. Immediately he stepped out and rushed in for a hug.
Quil was another one of her cousins she grew up close with. Besides herself Quil was close with their grandparents. Majority of the family relied on Quil and his help. It comforted y/n to know sheâd see him more often now.
âGood to see you sisâ he said as the two pulled away from each other. âYou too! I was gonna text you but Iâm glad to see you! Iâve been meaning to thank you for the help. Moving the furniture for me was a huge help for realâ
âEasy work. If you need anything just let me knowâ Quil was always cocky and loved to tease. He could be serious when needed to. It was something y/n somehow missed in their time apart. Although she knew that behaviour was bound to wear on her. For now she was enjoying the moment.
âWe were just going into town. What are you up to?â Grandma Molly asked Quil. Shrugging his shoulders he replied âNot much just about to stop in at the house. Wanted to see if this girl was home yet or notâ he smiled as he nudged y/nâs shoulder.
Y/n smiled before an idea popped into her head. âHow about the three of us eat dinner? On me? Iâm famished and I do owe the both of youâ she replied as the two agreed. âYou donât owe us anything weâre familyâ Grandma Molly assured y/n as the two walked to the car. âBut I will take you on that offerâ she joked making the other two laugh.
âWell I have my truck so Iâll meet you girls where?â Quil asked whilst twirling his keys. The three threw out suggestions. Grandma Molly and Quil ended up squabbling over which place to eat.
âHow about Carverâs? Yâknow I havenât been there in agesâ y/n suggested trying to end the arguments. It worked as everyone agreed. Y/n and her grandma went together as Quil followed in his truck behind. The drive was short but eventful. As grandma Molly continued to give her an update on everyone in the reserve.
Somewhere behind them Quil had veered off the path. But y/n knew he would eventually come behind. Vouching to get a table without him until he came the two headed inside. As y/n held the door open for her grandmother, before she could enter, a man rushed to hold open the door.
âHere I got itâ the man said, he stood tall way over six feet and was obviously Quileute, despite cold weather he wore only a long sleeve shirt. Y/n briefly looked at him before a surprise walked through the door.
âY/n? Grandma Molly? Oh my god! It is true youâre finally home!â Out rushing was her cousin Kim Conweller. She grew up with her close, the two were always together, but recent years theyâve been in and out of touch. The bond between them has never faded.
Growing up Kim, Quil, and y/n were close as a trio. They were the eldest out of their cousins. It had been awhile since the three of them were under one roof. Y/n felt overjoyed at her so far warm welcomes from everyone sheâs seen.
The two hugged tightly albeit y/n was surprised. âKim! Hi yes Iâm home for good now! Iâm glad to run into youâ she smiled as Kim gushed. âGrandma here told me a few weeks ago you were moving down. I wasnât sure if you actually were but here you are!â Kim gushed with a bright smile.
Y/n smiled back before looking up at the man who held the door. Who stared down at y/n, with curious eyes, it felt like the two somehow knew each other. Kim took notice and nervously laughed clutching onto his arm.
âSorry y/n you caught me off guard. This is my boyfriend Jared Cameron and this is my cousin y/nâ Kim introduced the two as Jared reached out for a handshake. When she did he wore a welcoming grin holding a firm grip on her hand. It was almost like it burned to touch him with how warm he was y/n thought.
She had heard of Kim speak of Jared when they talked. Even when he was nothing more than a high school crush to Kim. But y/n never knew anything more than his name and who his family was. She has always been curious as to who he really was.
âGreat to meet you y/n I heard a lot about you from Kimâ Jared said as he stood beside Kim. Making y/n look at Kim with an eyebrow raised. âHopefully she didnât say too muchâ she joked as the rest of them laughed slightly.
Before Kim answered she gave a quick glance to Jared. Then with a bright smile she replied âOf course not! Iâve just been excited to know youâre back home. Itâll be nice to have a close girlfriend aroundâ Kim said as it was true.
Y/n was the only girl she knew who was into feminine interests. Such as beauty, fashion, and everything in between. When these two meet it was always a blast.
âYeah me too Iâm glad to have seen you Kim. You should stop by the house this week. Once I get more settled inâ y/n offered. After all itâd be great to have a visitor or a helper to unpack. Itâs been long enough since it was just the two of them.
âYeah of course just send me a text. Well we better get going it looks like weâre holding up the door hereâ Kim said as more people pulled up to eat at the diner. As they all started to leave Quil finally arrived. As he got out of the car he rushed up to the group.
âHey broâ Quil said as he walked up to greet Jared. Who wore a smile bright as Kimâs when they briefly hugged. âHey~, Iâll see you at the house, alright?â Was all that was exchanged as Quil gave a nod in response. The couple leaving in Jaredâs truck.
âWait what house?â Y/n thought as Quil ushered them inside. Sitting down it was a quaint dinner between the three of them. It felt familiar and refreshing for the three of them. The last few months darkened by the death of Quil Atera III.
The three talked about everything going on in each others lives. How their grandma worried about them and their future. Willing to help in anyway she can. Quilâs silly jokes and stories entertained them throughout the evening.
Finishing up their dinner they got it ready to take home. As it was getting dark Quil offered to take their grandmother home. Quil said âYou need to catch up on your rest sis. Really itâs no problemâ y/n knew she couldnât argue.
As she looked up ready to leave she seen two people coming through the door. First to walk in was a girl with long soft auburn curls, skin that was beautifully pale and somehow glowing, her features were delicate and pretty.
Her beauty took the breath away from y/n. For she didnât look like she was real more like a doll. It was hard to believe someone could look so ethereal.
Behind her came a tall man with broad shoulders. He was also tall dark and handsome, another obvious Quileute man, wearing a leather jacket. The two gave off such a powerful impression it was almost unreal as they stood together. His eyes were fierce but dark as he looked over at their table.
Quil took notice from the look y/n had on her face. Turning around his heart dropped into his stomach. The two men looked at one another with disbelief. âJacobâ he said rising from his chair, this earned a smile from the man, who y/n assumed was Jacob.
âBrotherâ was all Jacob said as the two collided into a tight hug. Holding each other for a moment. As the two broke away Jacob patted Quilâs shoulders. The fierce look in Jacobâs eyes faded away.
âI thoughtââ Quil tried to speak before getting cut off. âWeâre back homeâ Jacob said as he looked directly into his eyes holding Quilâs shoulders to keep him in place. They shared a brief moment together before Quil nodded. His lips tightened into a stern expression.
âHiâ the girl said with a voice so sweet and alluring. Taking away her focus it was all drawn in suddenly on the mysterious girl. âIâm Renesmeeâ She answered earning a smile from Y/n. âHey my names y/nâ Renesmeeâs smile was so welcoming.
It felt like y/n was being drawn towards her more and more with each passing second. She was definitely being enchanted by her and her eyes. They were a shade of colour close to her hair, an almost honey brown, y/n and her eyes were locked. As the girl reached towards y/n to shake her hand Quil came quickly to her side.
Jacob suddenly put a gentle hand on Renesmeeâs shoulder. Breaking eye contact it was like y/n snapped out of it, as if she wasnât breathing before, she sucked the air back into her lungs. Leaning on Quil for support briefly. He looked down at her with concern.
âWe were just getting a bite to eat me and her. Iâll stop by once I drop this girl off homeâ he told Quil as he cocked his head in response. âBack home already? Huh⊠Alrightââ Taking a moment to rub y/nâs arm in support. He nodded as he grabbed his jacket and Grandma Mollyâs arm.
âWe have to get goingâ Quil said cutting the meeting short. âI have to get my grandmother homeâ he said as their grandmother tried to argue she wasnât tired. Y/n was still trying to get a grip on herself. Feeling Renesmee burning a hole into her neck.
âIâll be by later. I need to talk with Sam and the othersâ Jacob said with the serious look in his eye back. Quil nodded and as he turned y/n noticed the look on his face. As if he was slightly panicked trying to keep calm.
Grandma Molly silently placed her hand over Quilâs. Giving a firm but soft squeeze to reassure him. Quilâs posture softened, the three of them watching the two leave, y/n noticed how the energy of Quil and grandma Molly changed.
Y/n didnt want to bother the two and ask what was up. She felt it wasnât appropriate instead deciding to just say goodnight to the both of them. As the two sped off in the opposite direction of grandma Mollyâs house.
As she drove home she tried to calm her unsettled nerves. Reneesme was so enchanting and enticing, it was like she wanted to just submit to her, whatever she asked. It made y/n uncomfortable with how willing she truly was.
Trying to avert her focus she turned the music up and chalked it up to sleep deprivation. Maybe even anxiety but in reality y/n couldnât put a finger on it. Who ever Reneesme was she was unworldly y/n thought before falling asleep.
As the week progressed y/n settled into her house and tried to figure out a routine. Which ended up just becoming eating, sleeping, unpacking, more unpacking, etc. A bit of shopping in between.
Already tired of her routine she wondered what type of social life there is out here. And when would she be able to find new friends. Her and Kim had been texting with each other frequently. Quil as well but both have been too busy to stop by.
It was still an adjustment living alone in such a big house. Didnât help that every time she went places, like the grocery store, shopping for the house, sheâd get that eerie feeling again. It wasnât anxiety that was a feeling she was accustomed to.
For her it felt like being watched weirdly enough. Y/n had been shaking it off as moving in jitters. But in the back of her mind the thought of it all sat there. She didnât feel afraid but more unnerved, feeling the back of her neck hairs raise, as if she needed to be alert.
Sometimes before bed, in her bedroom there was a windowsill to sit on, some nights sheâd just gaze out into the tree line. Looking up at the moon in all itâs beauty. It was one of the only ways to soothe her nerves as of late.
All of it made her wish for a roommate some days. Living alone out in an open field was unnerving enough. But when sheâd leave thatâs when the feeling would arise. She wondered if it was spirits but the house was already cleansed thanks to her grandma Molly.
Randomly Kim arrived that weekend, unannounced but most welcome, y/n was wondering when she would come. âWow youâve already made the place your own huhâ she said impressed with how she decorated. Definitely a change from the usual way it stayed for years.
âYeah well Iâll be here for who knows how longâ Y/n said as the two sat in the living room. The two talking about what each other missed on in their time apart. Which was mostly just Kim gushing on and on about Jared.
Y/n knew Kim was obsessed with this one crush of hers for years. But since they didnât go to the same school y/n always wondered who the guy was. It was exciting to know he is as obsessed with her as she is.
âYeah things have been great with him. Hoping soon we can have our own place together. On that note I hope you donât mind but he told our friends about you. Since we donât get much new people here they were excited. They all wanna meet youâ
This piqued y/nâs interest, she couldnât stand being in the house alone, the novelty of it all was starting to wear on her. âReally? I mean who are your friends?â She asked with a curious tint in her eyes which amused Kim.
âI mean~ Iâm really close with this girl named Emily. She has a man named Sam who Jared is also close with. We usually just hang at her place since everyone else doesâ
âAnd whoâs everyone else?â Y/n asked making Kim shrug her shoulders. âMost of them are Jaredâs brothers, cousins, and friends he took in. In our friend group thereâs hardly any girls. Just me, Emily, and Leahâ
Apparently a few years back she had been attacked by a bear. Luckily before it claimed her life Sam came with a shot gun and blew its head out. As proof of the kill they gifted the community jars full of bear grease. It was also how Emily was able to fix her face since it was torn to shreds.
Leah was described as stoic and honest, maybe too honest for her own good, a very independent person. But like the rest she was fiercely loyal and protective of those she loves. She was more of a boyish girl and hung with her brothers a lot.
âThe rest is just guys like Quil, Embry, and Jacob I donât know if you remember those guysâ Kim said making y/n rack her brain about remembering them. âYeah somewhat⊠But either way Iâd like to meet them alsoâ She said getting Kim excited and giddy as she squealed.
âWell~ I came over to ask if you wanted to come to this bonfire party. Itâs this weekend and I told everyone you would come. Emily especially wants to see youâ Y/n couldnât help but feel flattered and excited. This was what she was wanting, to meet new friends, so why wouldnât she agree?
âYeah of course it sounds funâ she said making Kim squeal with excitement. âOkay great! Oh itâs gonna be so fun Iâll get dropped off here and come with you in your car if thatâs ok?â She asked and of course y/n agreed.
âItâs just that Jared has some other errands to do I donât wanna waste my time on thatâ Kim said making y/n giggle. The two girls continued their visit till dark before she left. Thinking of what they wanted to do this weekend.
Jared came in his blue heavy duty truck with loud pipes announcing his arrival. Like the gentleman he was he came to the door for Kim. Before leaving she promised sheâd come spend the night this weekend. It gave y/n something to look forward to.
That night y/n followed her now usual routine. Sitting in her windowsill gazing out to the tree line. Tonight was a full moon that stood high above the trees and mountains. She gazed upon it until she felt tired enough to just sleep when she hit the bed.
As she slept she had a dream, of her alone in the woods behind her house, everything all felt real to her. How the cold air bit at her skin and shocked her lungs when breathing in. Looking down she wore only a white dress with no details.
She didnât have any shoes on either. Feeling the crunchy dirt under her feet. Looking around she wondered what was happening. She could hardly see within six feet in front of her.
The full moon was bright as it shined down through the trees. Although beautiful it didnât help much. Aware of her surroundings she couldnât make out where was home. Trying to find the North Star or at least the Big Dipper for guidance.
The air was silent and very still a sign she knew wasnât good. Her instincts told her she should be quiet. For she wasnât alone in this vast wilderness. Feeling her heart beat start to race at a steadily rising pace.
In the distance she could hear echos of thumps, four legs on the ground running at top speed, right in her direction. Her heart started to beat faster and louder. Before she knew it she was on her feet.
She ran as fast as she could, it didnât help she was barefooted, it messed with her speed. Panicked and alone she wasnât sure where to go. All she knew was there was something coming for *her.* The pain of pine needles and stones beneath her steps.
Somehow she was sweating as she ran full speed. She could hear the noise of something on all fours running behind her. As she briefly looked behind she twisted her foot and rolled on the ground.
Crawling onto her knees in a hurry she was frantic. The fear of not knowing what would happen if she stopped. But it was like her legs were weak and her body frozen in place.
âI can help youâ a familiar voice chimed in front of her making her jump back. She felt frozen as her eyes looked forward. A woman stood in front of her face hidden under the shadows.
Y/nâs eyes trailed up from her feet, by the time she got to her chest, she could see auburn hair flowing in the wind. It gave her brief solace seeing her, the girl from earlier, Renesmee. Thinking sheâd meet with the soft enchanting eyes as she did before.
Only to be met with eyes that were so black it competed with the shadows. Her skin like diamonds under the moonlight. True fear ran through y/nâs veins as she was once again locked eyes with this girl. Everything in her body told her this was what she was running from.
A howl suddenly pierced through the valley and trees. It was loud and clear so much it rang throughout her ears. It sounded like the howl was right behind her somehow directly in her ear. It struck fear into the woman in front of her.
The howl made her snap out of the dream entirely. Y/n jumped out of bed and clasped her chest. Sitting in a cold sweat her heart beat pumped steadily. Wondering what her dream meant and why did the howl comfort her so much?
Finally finished rewriting this fic! This is a redo of my old fic named âPale Moonlightâ I did 2 years ago. I always liked the concept but I struggled on the timeline. Originally I wanted to set it during the actual events of the saga. But I ended up making this after the events of the twilight saga. As a way of seeing what the Wolfpack get up to with and without vampires. This is focused on them and their story. Not to mention a romance with Paul đȘ I do have the other chapters ready but I need time to edit them. In the meantime feel free to leave feedback đ«¶

The Second entry for the Twilight Pack Fanatfics' June/July 2024 Short Story Challenge is live.
Something In The Woods (Link Below)
Rated M.
Jacob Black/Bella Swan. Sam/Emily. Jared/Kim. Quil/Claire
Prompt: Alternative Characters.
Summary: Shifting is no blessing, and neither is the curse of imprinting that comes with it. The wolves become more animal than man when they imprint, and their chosen takes the brunt of this fact. The Pack is horrified by this, and with each imprint, they try to prevent the fear the first imprints experienced. But no one expected the leech lover to be Jacob's.
"âJacob,â he whispered, âIt was worse than the first shift. I would do that over and over again, rather than drag myself and Emily through imprinting even one more time.â
So Jacob listened, and he feared imprinting; the whole Pack did. It hung over each of their heads, and one by one, it took its victims in the shape of young men in the Pack."
Admin note: Slightly aged-up characters. Claire is a teenager.

Serious question for you Twilight Wolf Pack Fanfic writers & readers -Â
Is there still enough interest at this point in time for a Wolf-Pack based fiction awards to be put together?
Are there still enough Pack-focused writers actively posting fics?
We have the Twilight Renaissance.Â
Can we pull off a Wolf Pack Revival?Â
This is a legitimate inquiry - PLEASE REBLOG. I genuinely need answers as this may be an endeavor I pursue if there is enough interest. <3Â
The Wolfpackđș but they are teaching đŹđąđš how to drive đđš
đŠđźđș : He will make sure that you have your seatbelt on BEFORE you even start the car. Heâs those people that tells you to go 5 under the speed limit. He yells âstop stop stop!â đ even though you arenât 10 feet from the stop sign or traffic light. He holds on to the door handle the whole time đ.
đđźđżđČđ± : Wonât stop talking about road safety and different scenarios like âwhat to do in case thereâs a deer crossing the roadâ or â whether that u-turn is actually illegal if no one saw it đâ. He will make you drive a block but not before stopping you and making you park lecturing you on what you did wrong every step of the way.
đŁđźđđč : If pack is law then so IS driving and to him itâs all about law! You spend most if not all of the time parked in the car being lectured about driving techniques you didnât even know existed than actually driving. He may ask you yes or no questions about different driving situations. And yes he knows Jared makes illegal u-turns and YES Jared even if no one sees you they ARE still illegal đ€!
đđČđźđ” : She is the ideal kind to have on the road with you, and teaches you how to always be cautious and vigilant, until she switches it up on you and tries to trick you telling you thatâs what theyâll do in the real testđ. She teaches you how to cut people off and sheâs the only one that can actually parallel park with one swift hand movement. Sheâs been begged by many to have her teach them. Sheâll only teach you because your special đ
đ€đđ¶đč : Heâll pick the destination and give you guidance until he starts doing other activities while your behind the wheel. Heâll casually start texting, talking on the phone, or eating. If he sees your doing ok without his help heâll leave you to it and take a short nap. His only advice to watch out for deer! đŽ
đđșđŻđżđ : He might be the shy one âșïž but put him behind a car and he suddenly becomes the Angry đ driver. He will constantly make you hurry and will do almost anything to avoid being stuck in a traffic pile up. Will teach you how to suddenly swerve in and out of lanes and encourage you to use your horn frequently. Will swear at other drivers on the road.
đđźđ°đŒđŻ : Rambles on and on about car parts and different types of engines. Instead of taking you out to drive he teaches you how to change a tire or how to plug in the cables in case your car battery dies. He does quiz you some, but thatâs mostly it. Itâs not driving lessons but you donât complain these lessons will eventually come in handy someday. đ§°

Warning: Talking about Texas (I'm from here, chill bro lol), panic attacks, Phonophobia: the fear of loud sounds.
A/n: Hello! How have yall been? I hope you are okay and are taking self of yourself. I'll be 100% with yall, I guess I just had to get out what was wrong with me because out of nowhere (with the help of medication) I had a need to start writing.
Also, I DID NOT KNOW MY LINKS WERE NOT WORKING! Iâm so sorry. I realized the best way to get to my masters list is to go to my description bar. I don't know why it isn't. if you know how to fix it, please let me know!
Anyways, I never put summaries, but here's a little snipâY/n is best friends (100% platonic) with Jared and will be with Embry. The end. Enjoy!
***
Y/n POV
Finally! I'm finally coming back to the place I grew up at and loved. The place where nature is at every corner. I never thought I would miss the muggy and rainy state. I miss my friends on the Res and the few friends I had in Forks. I especially miss my little brother-from-another-mother, Jared.
Jared and I grew up together on the Reservation. We befriended each other instantly in second grade after making a bet that one of us could eat our rainbow popsicle faster than the other. The winner gets the strawberry scented eraser and a mechanical pencil that the other grabbed from a 3rd grader. Needless to say, I won. Granted, I had a brain freeze, but it was 100% worth it. But now I was on my way back to La Push to finish my Junior year with my friends after leaving in Freshman year.
Pulling up to the house I grew up with, I was welcomed by my grandparents and my aunt Lydia. My grandmother and aunt were already outside washing what looks like something green; I'm assuming she's making collard greens tonight. My grandfather just came from around the side of the house with some more logs to make a fire. As soon as the car is parked, they look up with smiles on their faces, and I jump out to embrace my family.
"Nana, Papa, Aunty!" I say as I run up to them as they get ready for me to embrace them. After Nana had a minor heart attack, Aunt Lydia came to La Push from California to assist her since she was a nurse for the elderly. She eventually moved in with them after she divorced her bastard of a husband. Their marriage is an example of what happens when you don't communicate well with your partner beforehand. Aunt Lydia never wanted kidsâshe liked them, but she also liked giving them back to their parents. Her ex-husband, Justin, wanted kids. He's always wanted kids, and knowing that she never wanted them, he still tried to sabotage any way for them to get one. Hiding her birth control, poking a hole in the condom, arguing that she'd change her mind eventually. Not understanding that she did not want one. At some point, he claimed he was okay with it, but as soon as they got married, I guess he figured she'd change her mind.
Three years later, she filed for divorce. Not long afterward, she moved back up here; then, when Nana had a heart attack, she moved in with them. It's been a year since all of that happened. She is now dating a man in Forks who already has kids and doesn't want anymore. The kids are in fifth, seventh, and ninth grade, so she's content and happy. They all love her, and she loves them equally, if not more.
"Hey, baby! How's my Ladybug." Nana asked. Ever since I was little, she gave me that name. I was adopted by the Nomalose at two, and the second my Nana came up to me in her kitchen, somehow a Ladybug flew in and landed on my shoulder. Thus, granted me the name Ladybug.
"I'm good, Nana. How are you feeling?" I asked, hugging her as she continued to sit in her chair then moving to my aunt.
"Oh, baby, I'm fine. Always am, and always will be." She says with a smile. So optimistic as always. After greeting everyone as we moved inside, we all sat around to catch up on what has happened since we were gone. Dad had a job transfer in Texas, so we had to pack up and head out. At first, leaving La Push and moving to Dallas was (obviously) terrifying, but I was repulsed by the thought of it. But after a while, it wasnât too bad. I mean, yes, it's hot as hell, some people are questionable, the pollen is horrific, and the redlining system is as evident as can be. However, I grew to love the heat and get a tan, made some friends, and the foodâŠ. oh, the food. What kind of threw me off is that they have to state the Texas flag pledge in class every day. What the absolute fuck.
After finishing up, we head back to the car and head to our home. Grabbing our stuff and unpacking it before the rest of our furniture arrives tomorrow. It's only mid-July (imagine moving in the middle of the summer from Texas to Washington. It was absolute hell), so I take this time to explore the area I once knew and get acquainted with. I plan on calling up some friends before I see my A1, the Jelly time to my Peanut butter, the Tom to my Jerry, the Magenta to my Blue, Jared Cameron. We kind of fell off within the last couple of months, but a little show-and-tell never hurt anyone.
I text some of my old friends I kept in contact with, and we decided to meet up at the beach. I put on my shorts, grab my beach gear, and head out.
"Be back before the streetlights-" mom started,
"-Come on. I know, I know. I'll text you when I'm on my way home." I finished. I kiss my parents and jump in the car to head to First beach. When I arrived, I see my sister-from-another-mister, LaCienega.
"Y/n/n!" She screams, running to me.
"Cien!" I scream back. We hug each other as tightly as possible before laughing like a bunch of crazy women.
"So, you're just going to forget all about us? Well, bitch, fuck you too." I look behind Cien and see her twin brother Javier and our other two friends, Leilani and Damion. I go up to them and hug the absolute shit out of them, and we all head towards the beach. We spent the day laughing, crying, playing soccer, and playing chicken before calling it. I planned on seeing Jared tomorrow but was warned by Leilani.
"Jared isn't Jared anymore, Y/n/n," she says, looking down at her hands with a deflated expression.
"What do you mean?" I asked, looking at everyone else too.
"Did Jared stop talking to you recently?" Javier asked. I nod my head slowly. They looked at one another, and he continued. "He did the same to us too. He randomly disappeared one day, and the next thing we know, he grew a whole foot and a half, gained muscle, got a tattoo, and just ignored us. He started to hand it out with Sam Uley. Now when we see him, he just ignores us and moves on like we are nothing to him." I shake my head. That can't be right; Jared wouldn't be like thatâhe can hardly ignore starting random shit with people, especially if there's money involved.
"I mean, yeah, he did fall off the face of the earth, butâŠno. I'm going over there tomorrow. I'll talk to him to see what's up. That just doesn't sound like the Jared I know." I say, packing up.
"Well, if you can get him to talk, ask him for that $20 he owes me. Bastard never paid me back after winning a bet that I could out eat an XL pizza against him." Damion laughs. I nod my head and head to my car. On the way home, I think about what they said. I just can't fathom that Jared would be like that to anyone. It just doesn't sound like him at all.
~~~
The next day, I text the crew that I was on my way to talk to Jared. I decided to surprise him, and because I knew he didn't live too far, I decided to get my steps in and just walk to his place. Once I was there, I knocked on the door, and his mom answered.
"Oh myâŠY/n? Is that really you?!" she exclaims with a smile on her face. She instantly pulls me into a hug, and tears swell in her eyes.
"Hi, Mrs. Olivia," I say back as I hug her. She invites me in, and we talk until Jared's sister and dad walk through the door.
"Y/n!" Kaylee, Jared's sister, screams and runs to me. I hug the now 12-year-old girl.
"Hey hon, hi, Mr. Kevin," I say, giving a wave across the room.
"Hey Y/n, how have you been? When did you get in?" he asked.
"Iâve been good. Just settling in. We came in yesterday morning. I came by to see you guys, and I was wondering where Jared was.â His demeanor changed. He cleared his throat and said Jared is with some friends and now isnât a good time seeing him. He basically rushed me out of the house after that. As I was walking home, I thought it was strange, but I didnât want to question itâŠfor now.
It was only one in the afternoon, so I decided to walk to the diner not far from his house. I go up to the counter to order something to-go and sit on the barstool. Taking out my phone, I text Cien and Leilani what happened. They found it strange, but they werenât too shocked by it. When I looked around the small diner, my eye caught a pair of familiar eyes.
âKim?â she looks at me, and her eyes widen instantly. She gets up from her table and walks over to me and hugs me.
âHoly shit! Y/n?! What are you doing here? When did you get in?â she asked. Kim and I werenât necessarily âbesties,â but we were friends. More like the type to hang out around school, but not so much outside of it.
âHey! I moved back. Came in yesterday. How have you been?â I asked. Before she could say anything, my food comes out, and she offers a ride to drive me home.
âOh, you donât have to. I donât mind walking.â She looks at me hesitantly,
âCome on, we can talk on the way. Plus, daylight or not, you never know what's lurking.â She says.
âWhat do you mean?â I ask. She grabs her stuff from the table she was sitting at alone, and we walk towards the door.
âWell, lately, there has been a lot of bear sightings in the area. People coming up missing or dead. And, I just donât want you to be the next victim.â She says as we head towards my place.
âDamn, so, let me guess, no hiking?â she nods her head.
âPlease, please, please! Do. Not. Go. Into. The. Woods. Especially by yourself. The last thing we need is someone going missing again.â She emphasizes. I look at her with shock and just nod my head. At the light, she turns to me. âIâm serious Y/n. I know you have a habit of being a daredevil and taking risks. Donât do it.â I look back at her with a shocked expression and just nod my head.
âYeah, okay. I promise.â I say being serious. She nods her head, and we continue onward in silence. When we get home, I tell her bye and head inside. I now want to know what the fuck is going on, and what did I miss?
~~~
The next morning, I try calling up Jared, but I got no response. As I headed to the kitchen, I could hear Mr. Kevinâs voice laughing and talking to my dad in the living room. Heading in that direction, I welcome him then head into the kitchen to make myself some food. Once I was done, I head back to my room and get ready to head to the beach. I overheard Mr. Kevin saying that Jared and âthe guysâ would be at first beach. So, why not take a trip there for the fuck of it?
I tell my parental guiders that I will with some friends and head to my car. I text Leilani and Cien to meet me up at the beach for a little girl's day out. As Iâm setting up, I run into Jacob Black, Embry Call, and Quil Ateara.
âHoly shit! Y/n!?â I turn to see Jake, and I smile at them and wave. We were classmates up until I left. I look at them, and I still see Quil looks like a baby, and Embry has gotten a little cuter, yet awkward and shy, but cute as can be.
âHey, guys! How are you?!â I say, hugging them. Maybe hugging Embry, a little longer than I probably shouldâve. They were a grade younger than me, but I still would hang with them when they were around.
âNot too bad, canât complain. How about you?â Quil exclaims. Embry just looking at me and giving me butterflies in my damn stomach.
âIâm good. You know, just moving back, living life, trying to not get killed in the process. The usual.â I say, smiling. We talk until the girls come up. I tell them to text me some timeâmainly hinting at Embryâand we parted ways. A couple of hours later, the girls head home, and I stay for a little while longer while La Push is still welcoming the sun. Not long afterward, Iâm cut from my daydream with loud hoots and hollers. I turn to see who it was, and I can only make out a few of them. One of the girls turns to me and waves at me. I look behind me to see no one, and I slightly wave back, having no idea who she is. She runs up to me, and I see it's Kim.
âOh, shit. Kim, hey. Sorry, I can't see shit.â She smiles and laughs but brushes it off. She invites me over to play soccer with her friends, and I politely decline. I suck being around new people. She smiles and encourages me, but I hear the voice Iâve been looking for before I could say anything.
âY/n?â I look up to see Jared. But not the Jared that I remember; this Jared is entirely different. Someone I have never met before in my life. This Jared looks like he belongs on WWE or some shit.
âJared? Holy shit! Youâre fucking huge!â I say, walking towards him. But before I could do anything, he cuts the reunion short.
âWhat the fuck are you doing here?â Hold on. Pause. What the fuck?
âUm, I live here. Whatâs wrong? Is that a bad thing?â he rolls his eyes and crosses his arms.
âNo, I meant here. On the beach. I thought me not replying meant not to contact me or follow me.â I looked at him, shocked. Kim steps in the middle.
âWoah, babe, chill. You guys cool?â I nod my head.
âYeah, weâre friends.â
âWas.â What theâŠ
âWoah, what the hell J. Did I do something? What the fuck is your problem? Last time I checked, this was a free beach.â What the hell was his problem? Who is this? This, this isâŠThey were right, Jared has changed.
âY/n, you shouldnât be here. You shouldnât have come back!â
âJared, what the hell!?â I walk up to him, confused. I look behind him and see 2 more guys and a female.
âLeave Y/n. Just to make everything clear to you and to all of your friends, leave me alone. Donât talk to me, donât text me, donât contact me. Donât come to my house to bother my family, and donât bother my girlfriend. Come on, Kim.â I stood there in shock. Kim looked as puzzled as I did but looked back at me and walked off. I stood there until I felt something fall on my faceâa tear. Before I could react cognitively, I go back to my stuff and head home. I honestly felt like my heart has been ripped to pieces.
As I pull up to the house, I run inside and go straight to my room. I sit on my bed and text everyone in the group text what happened and just shower and lay in my bed again. It wasnât until later that evening that I came out of my room for dinner at my grandparentsâ house that I communicated with everyone. Why would Jared act like that? Did he do that with everyone? Is this what everyone was talking about? Something is up. Iâm not going to say it's âroid-rage, but⊠I canât pass up the thought that it might be drugs.
The following week I keep myself busy doing little things and going out with my friends, hanging out with Jake, Quil, and Embry. Mainly attempting to not be bothered about my last interaction with Jared. Coming home from Port Angeles with everyone that evening, my parents are arguing again. I retreat my stuff upstairs and try to silence them out. Ever since I can remember, Iâve always had a horrible reaction when it comes to people screaming at me or arguing with or in front of me. I eventually narrowed it down to a time where I donât remember before I was adopted. It didnât help that my parents did it frequently as I grew up. It was worse when I was a kid. Before I would be able to leave and go to Jaredâs house, he would calm me down. Now? I have no one. I can't necessarily go to my other friends because they donât really get how bad it is. Jared is the only one who knows and who has seen the horror.
As much as I try to block it out, nothing is working. I grab my speaker and head to the bathroom to shower, trying to calm my nerves and tune them out. Hoping that they would stop by the time I get out. But I was wrong. It seemed like it has only gotten worse. And when I listened in, it was my fault.
âIf you werenât fucking yelling, she wouldnât need to hide and turn up the music to block us out!â mom said.
âWhy is it MY fault? Like EVERYTHING ELSE! Jesus! I told you to stop when the car pulled up! BUT NO! YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO HAVE THE LAST FUCKING WORD!â Dad said. And it was just like that back and forth. I slide down the back of my door and put in my headphones while trying to even my breath. Attempting to not have a panic attack. But it seemed as if the more I try, the louder they got. The louder they got, the more I cried. I couldnât take it. I threw my headphones on the bed, grabbed my coat, put on my sneakers, and ran past my parents and out of the house. Even as Iâm running away, I can hear them yelling about how Iâm now leaving. Itâs times like these that make me wonder why I canât be normal.
Not realizing where Iâm going, I just run. No stopping, no looking back, not thinking, just running. I donât come back to the realization until I am in front of Jaredâs driveway. I stop, thinking back on his hurtful words that I start panicking and running away from his home. Mindlessly running away, I trip and fall from a tree root sticking out of the ground. I look at my surroundings and notice that I somehow ended up in the forest. Confused and unsure, I look for a sign of familiarity, and I canât find anything. Trying to not put myself in an even more state of panic, I take multiple deep breaths and calmly walk back into the opposite direction I tripped. But after a little while later, I notice I was lost even more. The sun is setting quickly, and I have no idea where Iâm at.
Panic starts rising as I try to calmly and carefully walk out of the woods. I reach for my phone only to discover that I donât have it. I either left it at home or dropped it when I fell. I stop by a nearby tree and just try to relax. But of course, life likes to go against me and scare the shit out of me. It wasnât a second later that I heard the crunching of leaves and a branch snapping. I looked around me and didnât see anyone. The rustling of the branches above me had me look up and saw nothing. But it was the figure in front of me that scared the living shit out of me.Â
In front of me stood an average height woman with chopped short black hair; she was skinny, pale skin, and beautiful. But what was creepy was the red eyes. I was so shocked by her appearance that I didnât notice the man next to me. He towered over me. He looked six-feet, with silver blond hair, pale as the woman, and blood-red eyes.
âWell, well, well, look what we have here, Vanity. A little pet, I see.â The man says, stepping towards me.
âI see. Awe, she looks so adorable! I just want to eat her up! Can we keep her Leo!?â the female, Vanity, said. She gets a disapproving look from Leo, who turns to me, and the next thing I know, Iâm up against the tree with this hand around my neck. This, by no means, is helping with my anxiety. I froze, unsure what to do.
âThis is interesting, no fight back.â Leo says, âWell, whereâs the fun in that?â he snarls. He throws me across the forest. I land on my shoulder and scream out in pain. âRun.â Is all he says before I get up and take off. I run as fast as I could while screaming for help. Hoping anyone is out there and available to rescue me from this hell.
âSOMEONE, PLEASE! HELP ME! HELP!â I yell, running as fast as my legs could carry me. If there's one thing Iâm grateful for, it's being thankful for having the gift of balance. Without it, I would have tripped and fallen by now. I hear laughter above me, and as I look up, I see Vanity and Leo jumping from tree to tree, terrorizing me more. Nightfall has hit, and I can't see shit. I turn in another direction to get away from them, only to enter into an open field. I run across this little open area only to be cut off by Vanity on one side and Leo on the other.
âNow! Weâre having fun. Right baby!?â Leo screams to her.
âSon of a bitch! What are you guys!? Please donât hurt me!â I say, tears coming from my eyes.
âWell, since you asked so nicely. Weâll make it quick, hon.â Vanity says. She shoves me to the ground and moves my head to the side, but I hear a growl from across the field before she could do anything else. We all turn to look, and I see wolves. Giant wolves. What the living fuck is going on? A more enormous black wolf is leading two more of them, looking at us.
âWell, well, well. Look what we have here. I thought you guys died off.â Vanity says, turning to Leo, âThe game just got interesting.â
âGame? What game? I donât want to play.â I said in a quivering voice. One of the wolves looked at me; the one next to him stares back at him, then at me.
âSeems to me that one of them recognizes our little friend here, Leo.â The bitch pops my shoulder out of place, making me scream out in pain, begging them to let me go. The wolves growl and take a step closer.
âGotta catch us to get her,â Leo says. Next thing I know, Iâm tossed over his shoulder, and weâre taking off into the deep dark forest. Before I can react, I find myself moving at an inhuman speed. My mind catches up with my voice, and all I can do is scream.
âLet me go!â I yell to someone. I look up to see the wolves right on their tail. A second later, I'm being tossed in the air, and I was caught by Vanity.
âWhat the fuck! Please! Donât kill me! Please!â they ignore my plea, and she starts jumping up from tree to tree along with Leo. She tosses me again, and I barely land in Leoâs arms. At this point, I'm crying. I have no idea whatâs going on technically. Wolves are chasing us. I feel sick to my stomach. I just want to go home. I turn to look behind Leo and see a wolf right upon him. He senses it and tosses me to Vanity. She catches me, and I look ahead. We are coming up on a clearing, I recognize. Itâs the cliff.
âNO! NO! NO! I CAN'T SWIM! I CAN'T SWIM! HELP! HELP!â Those were my last words before Iâm thrown over the cliff and into the pacific. Everything slowed down at that point. I looked back and saw Vanity diving after me, and behind her, I saw one of the wolves looking at me, and before I hit the water, it howled, and I blacked out.
After inheriting her grandparents house in the Quileute reservation, La Push, Y/N moves to her home rez. Hoping to start a new life she is soon involved with what she thought were just old legends.

CHAPTER 3
<<CHP 2 | CHP 4 >>
The music was playing loud with the help of Embryâs subwoofer. Everyone was feeling the drinks as the group talked over one another. Only the older members sat around the bonfire. Consisting of Y/n, Quil, Kim, Emily, Leah, Sam, Embry, and Jared.
Leah and Embry sat beside y/n on either sides. Emily and Kim eventually found their way to their respective partners. Kim and Jared sat next to each other basically fondling one another. Emily and Sam were too absorbed with one another to even join the group conversation.
Almost an hour and a half had passed since Paul had left. Y/n still sat with her heart racing out of her chest as she barely finishing her first drink. Still nursing what was left in the can. Wondering anxiously when Paul would get back. Feelings in turmoil as she switched from feeling desperate to frustration at herself.
The three outside of y/n seemed to take no notice or care about the couples. It seemed that it was just something normal for the others. Y/n faded in and out of the conversation, thinking of him, then snapping into reality. She wondered if heâd even come back.
She was getting along with Leah, there were some qualities they shared, even some interests. Y/n was relieved to know she wasnât as scary as she thought. She was one of the most welcoming and generous people out of the group aside Emily.
âSo your grandma said youâre living all alone down at her old place?â
âYeah just me out there at the momentâ
âSeems a lot of work for one person. How are you handling it all?â Leah asked with serious concern. Y/n nervously laughed âIâm handling it so far yeah. Itâs true itâs a lot of work for me but not much besides the house I have to look after. Iâll worry about the yard once the snow is fully melted.â
âWell if you ever need any help I live nearby your place. Iâll give you my number in case of anything. Or if you just want to hang. Iâm sure you can handle but itâs still scary for a single girl to live alone there. Itâs a pretty isolated areaâ
âReally? I appreciate that itâll help. Iâve been worried about the recent wolf sightings in my area. Least I know youâre aroundâ
Leah fell silent after they exchanged numbers. Embry she enjoyed as well but y/n found it hard to befriend men most of the time. It never lasted long with her guy friends in the past. Besides she wasnât sure if she was wanting to just befriend him.
Other times sheâd be really enjoying herself. But after feeling that intense connection earlier from Paul she wasnât sure about much now. It didnât help the fact that Embry and Leah kept bickering with one another quite loudly.
âSo how are we feeling tonight y/n?â Embry asked catching her attention. He wore a soft smile on his face. âGreat. Howâs your night so far?â She asked earnestly with a smile as he leaned in closer. Her cheeks flushing at how close they were at the moment.
âSame here. Youâre not much of a drinker are youâ He asked looking down at her empty can. She shrugged her shoulders âUsuallyâ she said as he scoffed. âUsually? Why not tonight? I thought you were having a great nightâ he asked with a worried look.
âI mean I am butââ y/n trailed off nervously. Embry shook his head slightly. âBut?â Gazing into his eyes he gave off a unique Intense energy. An unsuspecting darkness was hidden inside him. He mustâve noticed from Leah and y/nâs reaction how he was behaving. Leaning back slightly away from her as Leah got up to leave.
âI justâŠâ Y/n trailed off trying to figure what to say. Explain that she somehow missed Paul even though they literally just met? She wasnât sure If one could even call that an introduction.
âLook, I get that youâre not used to being around people like us. We can come off how do I put it. A bit scary? Intense? I dunno but personally I hope you have a good time here with all of us. In the meantime can I get you a new drink?â He offered which made y/n smile.
âSure, thank youâ she answered as Embry stood up. But before he could leave she pulled onto the edge of his sleeve. âI just wanna say I am having fun. I donât wanna give off the impression Iâm not. Itâs just that I didnât realize how tired I am yâknow? But Iâm sure a drink will help with thatâ
He smiled slightly at her nodding in acknowledgment. Leaving to get a drink out of the cooler for her y/n sat in thought. Her heart beat was still pounding loudly. The lingering energy settled over her and her heart.
It wasnât as if she thought everyone was scary. They seemed interesting in a way she couldnât describe. A certain mystery that she wanted to unravel about all of them. They seemed so close and familiar. It made the feeling of being a new person all the more obvious.
The evening was great so far, but with how much time had passed, she wondered if Paul would return. Would she even cross paths with Paul again? She wanted to rid herself of this inner conflict she was going through already.
Maybe then she could actually focus on her surroundings. She kept getting flashbacks to her dreams. Running in the woods wildly, the light of the moon, with the sounds of howls echoing the valleys. Chills ran down her back all the way across her spine.
Embry came with her new drink in hand. She kept harshly blinking as to help with her vision, fading in and out of reality, then back to her place in her dreams. As she reached for the can she saw a flash of fierce piercing grey eyes in her mind. Making her gasp in surprise she almost dropped her drink.
The loud noise of truck pipes echoed as a black truck rolled up. Instantly catching the attention of everyone as the driver slammed into park. Y/n once again felt a wave of chills go through her. She knew there was only one person it could be.
Paul had returned with Seth by his side. He wore a completely different outfit than the one had a few hours ago she noticed. Glancing up he found her and locked eyes instantly. She was frozen in place as he made his way down to the area.
Sam rose to greet the two as Paul kept his eyes on y/n. The rest of the group eventually stood along with y/n. At this point all y/n felt she could do was look away and stare into the fire. Feeling his intense look baring down into the side of her neck.
âPaul you made itâ Sam said as he was almost instantly ignored. Embry stood beside y/n not bothered by his entrance. Paul was glaring at him, while y/n scanned Paul once more, looking upon his face closely.
âSoâ His voice was smooth but gruff. He had a slight smirk across his face standing in from of her. Y/n looked up as she breathed in regaining composure. All everyone else could do was watch and wait in anticipation.
âYouâre her arenât you?â Paul said in a tone that made her heart race. âHer?â She answered as he wore a stern expression. One that seemed like he wouldnât let up. His intensity was something y/n had never experienced before.
âThe one. Everyone has talked about you at least once a day since you cameâ He said making y/n lift an eyebrow, she felt he was somehow annoyed, at how much everyone was excited over her. âYeah well thatâs me. And you are?â She asked as he smiled slightly at her response.
âPaulâ he said causing a short pause between the two. For both it felt like an eternity fit into a second. Y/nâs eyes trailed from his eyes down to his lips. Down to his neck and chest focusing on his collarbone. She was too busy taking in his features to realize he was also.
âI never got your nameâ he said as she felt the warmth on her face spreading. âMy name is y/n⊠Not just the oneâ y/n bluntly corrected Paul. He smiled finally breaking the harsh exterior he held. âIâd hope notâ he said as y/n felt somehow more at ease now that he was back.
The rest of the guys broke the conversation by pulling Paul to the drinks. Catching both of the two by surprise. Everyone erupting into conversation as y/n caught her breath. Separating into their respective corners.
She felt her nerves calmly settling down. As her heart beat steadied she sat down clutching her chest. Embry took notice as he joined her side once more. âHey you okay?â He asked worried as she nodded her head.
âIâm fine itâs just a bit cold out here. Still getting used to it I guessâ she tried to assure while he shook his head. Embry wore a thick fleece lined flannel jacket which he was trying to take off.
Leah instantly as she seen the sight and got up to intervene. Knowing how the situation would bode with a certain someone. Paul was already shooting deathly eye glares from his corner. Leah rushed over with a blanket, wrapped up y/n, before Embry could place his jacket on her.
Y/n flushed red as Leah wrapped not only the blanket but her arms around her. âHereâ Leah said looking down at her, she could smell her scent waft past, which was a mix of rain and lavender. Embry frowned as he shuffled his jacket back on.
âEven from where I sat you could see how cold you areâ Leah smiled teasing y/n who was bashful. As Leah rubbed her shoulders for warmth before sitting back beside her. âThank you. Iâm not used to the weather here just yetâ y/n replied in a soft tone.
âIs it bad if I hope you donât?â Leah said as she peered in close to y/n. Gazing at her through her thick lashes y/n felt flustered. Noticing how close the distance was to the two. Jared and Kim sat with Paul who was sitting on the edge of his seat.
âNow why would you hope for that? You wish for me to be freezing all the time?â y/n answered trying to focus. But Leah had her own intensity to her that y/n struggled to match. Leah in the other hand couldnât but find her demeanour cute.
âBecause. Then I wouldnât be able to warm you up like thisâ Leah made y/n instantly blush heat spreading across her face. Leah sat with a sly but subtle smirk as she stifled a laugh. Quil on the other hand was sick of watching everyone fight over his cousin.
Everyone was acting different since she arrived he noticed. It was as if they all forgot how to act in the first place. When did everyone get so sweet? He rose from his seat eager to march right over. Paul determined to follow him but Sam whipped a glare to him.
The loud sound of a car arriving interrupted everyone. As they all shifted their heads to see who had pulled up. Y/n felt her heart drop into her gut in an awful way. Everything in her body told her she should flee. Instead her body froze stiff in place.
The men all stood up on alert before the truck could even fully park. Sensing something that y/n was somehow also reacting to. Paul whipped his head over to Quil then y/n. Embry left y/nâs side walking over to stand by Sam.
Quil marched over to y/n taking Embryâs place at her side. Y/n noticed Quilâs protective stance as everyone else stood up alert. Leah also rushed in front of y/n as if to block her from something.
Out from the truck was Jacob and the girl Renesmee. Y/n stiffened again as the two immediately locked eyes. Sam rushed up to meet with Jacob who walked with Renesmee in stride.
The two men began to talk in harsh but hush tones to each other. Renesmee kept her eyes on y/n who was trying to stray away from the girl. Looking down eager to avoid y/n felt utter chills throughout her body.
âHey there. Itâs me from the diner remember?â Renesmee beamed innocently with a bright smile. Strolling over past the two men and the rest of the group confidently over to y/n. Everyone eyed her with wild and fierce eyes shocked.
Y/n slightly gasped upon hearing her voice, seeing her coming over, she felt her self hesitate. Quil and Leah immediately closed ranks sliding close to one another. Shoulder to shoulder they blocked Renesmee from approaching further
âJust the other day was when we met. Iâm sure Quil remembers. I didnât think youâd be here what a nice surprise!â The girl continued as Quil nodded with a straight stern face. âYes itâs good to see you tooâ he tried to dismiss her. But to no avail as she peered over and in between the two to look at y/n.
âYes hi Renesââ
âJacobâ Paul called out in a serious tone as he hovered close by. Arms crossed as he showed obvious discontent. âRenesmeeâ Jacob called out making the girl look back concerned. In a brief moment she sighed and joined his side once more.
Y/n couldnât help but notice everyoneâs strange behaviour. How the energy shifted as soon as these two pulled up. But she wasnât quite sure how to react given the mood so far. Kim and Jared looked at one another before they separated.
âCâmon y/n I think we should go for a quick cruise. Leah come with us. Weâre almost out of drinksâ Kim chimed in as y/n looked back up at Renesmee. A sad look upon her face as she gazed into the fire. Kim quickly linked arms with y/n pulling her away from the area.
âEm you tooâ Leah spoke in a firm tone as Emily nodded. The four left together explaining theyâd be right back. Y/n didnât know what Kim meant by saying there were hardly drinks. When there were at least two coolers full still. She understood there was something weird going on they didnât want to say.
Whatever it was had to do with Renesmee somehow. Or at least Jacob she decided in her mind on the drive to the liquor store. Even the girls didnât dare bring the two of them up. Leah drove since she didnât have anything to drink.
As she parked the car y/n made the other two girls go inside. Wanting to sit alone with Leah for a moment. Y/n waited for Leah to light her cigarette. Watching as she exhaled her smoke into the air.
âSo that was Renesmee and Jacob huh? I remember Jacob but Iâm not sure who the girl isâ
Y/n tried to make her intentions discreet. Leah took a long drag, thinking of what to say, she took a moment before answering. âI thought she said you met at the dinerâ y/n agreed but quickly dismissed her.
âBut that was quick I barely spent a minute with herâ Leah nodded slightly. âYeah well that might be for the bestâ Leah answered as she took a drag. Her ash lighting up as she inhaled. She seemed so reserved y/n thought as she looked at her.
âFor the best? What do you mean by that?â Y/n peered curiously. Wondering what could be so wrong about Renesmee. âI hardly know the girl either. Just that her and Jacob have been gone for like 3-4 years until now. The girl can be a bit much at times from what I rememberâ Leah continued.
âAnd Jacob? Is that hisâŠâ y/n trailed off unsure whether to say it out loud or not. Leah glanced over with a small smirk. âHis what?â Leah questioned as y/n blushed. âI mean is that yâknow⊠His girlfriend?â Leah laughed slightly as she flicked her cigarette out the window.
âNo thatâs not his girlfriend. Theyâre close likeâŠâ she struggled to explain as y/n tried guessing. âHis little sister?â She answered as Leah agreed. âYeah⊠Yeah something like thatâŠâ Leah finished her cigarette putting it out. The two girls were coming out the store now with small bags.
Once they returned y/n noticed how they came with more bags of ice than anything. More so than the booze they were supposedly getting. She didnât want to question since no one needed to black out tonight. Hopefully these boys werenât black outs whoâd fight each other when wasted.
âGood to see Jacob back isnât it?â Kim brought up lightly, her and y/n sat in the back, as the other two sat quietly. âIt is yeahâŠâ Emily said drifting off onto something unrelated. The topic of Renesmee wasnât brought up in the slightest. It was like she didnât exist to these people.
Getting back to the beach Jacob and Renesmee were gone, everyone explained they just came for a bit, since Renesmee was supposedly tired. Jacob decided to bring her home instead. Explaining he wonât be able to make it back until another day.
Unadmittedly y/n was disappointed to know she was gone. There was something about her y/n felt she needed to uncover. Why does she keep haunting her dreams with her presence? It all wasnât making much sense to her. Figuring if she got to know her maybe itâd explain somethings.
Jacob as well she surprisingly missed. Sheâd cross paths with him as a child growing up. Since him and Quil were always close, she had hardly recognized him, not like she knew him that well anyways. But it was a missed opportunity she was hoping to get another day.
She tried not to focus on it too much and instead focused on visiting here. Tonight would most likely not be different than the rest. Renesmee would likely be awaiting for her in her dreams. As she went to sit down on the logs with the rest Paul came towards her.
She felt nervous as he stepped close, in his hands were a warm blanket, looking up at him he wore a stern expression. âHave thisâ he said bluntly making her quickly take it in her arms. âItâs cold out tonight. Youâll need it to stay warmâ he said very matter of fact. He smelt of firewood smoke and a faint smell of cologne.
âOh okayâŠThank youâ she said softly as he handed her a drink, the kind she was drinking before, instead it was a fresh one. Before he walked away satisfied back to his seat. Wrapping herself in the blanket she couldnât help but blush at the interaction. How thoughtful she thought as the rest watched closely.
The rest of the evening y/n spent with Kim and Emily. Despite y/nâs attempts hardly anyone spoke of Renesmee. The conversation always somehow leading back to Jacob. It bothered her since she was overly curious of the girl.
âSo y/n what do you usually like doing around here? Now that youâre fully moved back?â Emily had asked y/n. âI mean thereâs not much to do around here really. Well at least from what I rememberâ she said making everyone laugh.
âThatâs quite trueâ Emily said as she calmed down. Y/n couldnât help but feel a bit embarrassed for the comment. âI love going to the beach but itâs not warm out yet. Hiking too but again itâs so cold yet. Iâm mainly at home unless I travel out to the cityâ she said trying to shift the focus off of her somehow.
âWell how about sometime this week you come over for dinner? I usually cook big meals and weâd love to have someone new come by. I can show you what we do for fun hereâ Emily was sincere and kind which y/n was glad for. âYeah of course Iâll comeâ y/n said eagerly making the rest smile, except for Paul, who looked over to Sam and Emily concerned.
âJust let me know what kind of dishes you like. I can cook whatever itâs no issue. Since these guys hunt I usually have a variety of wild gameâ Emily insisted sweetly. Ignoring Paulâs glares and Samâs concerns.
âWow really? You guys hunt?â Y/n asked the rest of the men who were surprised by the sudden attention. âI mean yeah all the timeâ Embry said in a semi sarcastic tone that y/n caught. Y/n frowned slightly as she turned away. Soon as she did Paul elbowed Embryâs side harshly.
âI can bring by some meat to stock your freezer. I know you love elk meatâ Quil chimed in making y/n perk up. âReally? Iâd really appreciate that since I havenât eaten it in so longâ y/n said as Quil nodded.
âWait a minute. I knew I recognized you! But I wasnât sure from where. Youâre the cousin that Quil took to prom right? What was that? Junior or sophomore year?â Jared exclaimed as he finally remembered. Both Quil and y/nâs face flushed with embarrassment.
âYeah it was grade eleven I came out for the prom. It was a goodnightâ y/n explained much to Quilâs objections. âSorry I didnât remember sooner. But damn that was bugging me for a whileâ Jared said relieved.
Everyone got a rise out of that as they shared stories of that night. âI remember because everyone thought she was your girlfriend. Awe man most of the guys were so jealous until they knew she was your cousinâ Jared continued on.
It was starting to annoy Paul as much as Quil. âYeah well I had the prettiest girl on my arm that night thatâs all that matteredâ Quil defended his self while the boys continued to tease him.
âThatâs because you couldnât get a real dateâ Embry started as the two broke into rough housing one another. âFuck you, you didnât even show up with a date, at least I didâ he bickered as Embry tried choking him.
The conversation trailed off into what the guys wanted to show y/n. Once the two broke apart thanks to Paul. Which was just basically a variety of the sports they all played. She got along with Embry and Quil the most. Since they all had somewhat nerdy interests. Embryâs sarcastic humour was starting to rub off on her.
Y/n had started to notice Paulâs presence more with each passing moment. Eager to steal secret glances to look at him, but their eyes would meet each time, making her heart skip a beat. It was as if he was staring at her long before she could look at him.
It caught her off guard in some moments. Or how if she shifted her position and seat heâd find a way to sit directly across her. How he leaned in each time they spoke to one another so far. Just their few passing words was somehow enough for her to feel smitten.
The visit was cut short since Sam got a phone call. Apparently the majority of them work on as a type of security, for the community, Sam was one of the leadings officers. All eventually decided to leave and end the night.
Y/n laid in bed that night tired and tipsy. Thinking back on what had happened. She was glad to have met everyone so far. But Paul stood out amongst the rest even against Renesmee. How intense she felt being near him, in some moments she felt her heart beating so loudly, thinking itâd run right out of her chest.
Paul made her feel things she never thought she could. Tossing and turning her mind was filled with Paul. Despite the erratic emotions she felt somehow at ease also. Each time she closed her eyes to sleep it was as if he was staring back at her.
A howl echoed in her mind as she was lulled to sleep. It was the first night she didnât have a weird terrible dream. Instead only remembering comfort that came in waves and the howl that echoed.
Y/n finally felt refreshed and rested after what felt like forever. The weird dreams were really messing with her quality of sleep. Thankfully not much happened last night to disturb her. The only thing she couldnât get her mind off was Paul. Somehow switching him for Renesmee in her mind.
It still freaked her out about the other day with Kim, how Renesmee was in the middle of the road, that she couldnât explain. In all honesty it messed with her confidence driving. Honestly her confidence in general.
She seemed so alluring and captivating. Despite only spending a few moments with her. Coming off as somehow hauntingly sweet. It wasnât so great thinking so much of her. Luckily she had the thought of Paul distracting her.
Getting ready for the day she continued with her chores. Continuing to clean and tend to the house. She gradually felt cooped up and uncomfortable, surrounded by chaotic mess, boxes and items left scattered everywhere. She texted Kim to see if she wanted to hang.
But after waiting a minute Kim didnât respond. Unusual since she always answered quickly. Deciding to just suck it up she wanted to go to the book store. Have a day to herself of shopping and being spoiled.
A chance to get over her nerves and get out. She finished what was left of her chores. Putting on her coat she grabbed her keys out of the bowl by the door. Once last look in the mirror she headed out.
Leaving the house she turned to lock the door. Only to hear a ruffling noise coming from the trees. Whipping her head quickly to see a huge gray wolf, shocked she dropped her keys, but for a brief second she made eye contact.
It was true there were wolves around here! Would it leap and attack her she thought? But the serene energy she felt told her otherwise. Holding the eye contact before the beast turned running into the forest.
She stood for a moment in disbelief. And also just to make sure there werenât anymore around. After realizing what just happened was real and not a dream she gathered herself. It was her first time seeing a real wolf. Picking up her keys and driving down the road.
The sight of the wolf made her wonder. In all seriousness y/n was spiritual especially with how she grew up. Wondering if this was the same wolf that plagued her dreams and thoughts. Her grandfather always said there was a power, a certain energy, to the wolf.
Overwhelmed y/n knew she needed to just focus on herself today. Everything since moving here was so weird and different so far. She just needed to do something normal and docile. Something that was familiar to her. Hopefully there wouldnât be any wolves on her way back.
Driving she listened to music to calm her nerves. Getting into a better mindset she got herself a coffee through a local cafe, going through the drive thru, before heading to the stores.
Shopping around a few clothing boutiques she wandered around. Finding a new small store she explored. Not realizing it was an indigenous owned store. There was a wall filled with jewellery. Different types of beaded, dentillium, shell earrings and jewelry.
Coming across a stunning pair of wolf earrings that were beaded. It was more intricate and detailed than what sheâd found. She was so taken by them the lady at the register even noticed.
âThose were all made by local artisans in the community. Every item bought a portion goes back to themâ
âReally? Do you happen to know the name of who made these?â She asked as the lady who looked at the earrings. âUsually these have a tag with their names and contact info of the artist. But this is missing oneâ she showed the other earrings with tags.
âIâll still get them if thatâs alrightâ y/n insisted as the lady happily rang them up. The earrings were too pretty to pass up. Especially after that encounter with that gray wolf. These ones had a gray wolf with an orange sunset coloured background.
Reaching the bookstore she noticed it was also indigenous owned. Something she wasnât used to where she lived with her parents. It made her excited since she needed more indigenous literature on her shelves.
The man at the counter greeted her as she entered. It was semi busy with people mingling around. Looking around she found a section dedicated to Quileute knowledge and history. Which immediately caught her interest as she went towards it.
Scanning through she found a book on Quileute myths and legends. It reminded her badly of her grandfather. Growing up when sheâd be at their house heâd always tell stories. Passing them down from his grandfather to her and her cousins.
Most were stories of his time as a child. Before diving into myths and stories he knew about. She and Quil spent the most time with him out of the grandkids. Heâd always take the time to explain what each story meant.
Skimming through she was entranced by the story she landed on. It reminded her of a certain story she had trouble remembering of his. Because he only told it maybe once in her lifetime. Reading the title of the chapter she began reading further.
âMyths and legends of the Quileute tribe
In times before the white man came to the country, the Quileute tribe have been a small but resilient people, with their own unique traditions and power. Recognized and respected by the surrounding communities as fierce warriors.
They are also recognized for their mysterious âgiftsâ and so called âblessingsâ. Some say they have multiple types of strong magic and power. One being their connection to the wolves. Accounts from other surrounding tribes speak of their unnatural abilities and ties.
The Makah people specifically, have certain accounts, and stories of such abilities. For when encountering them in battle, the Quileute owned what was believed to be direwolves, which are now extinct to the modern world. Theyâd send them out to assist during battle. Many believed they raised and trained them among their own. But thereâs no such evidence to support that.
The direwolves were said to be as big or even bigger than the average horse. A different breed of wolf that was uncommon in the Washington area. On the battlefield they would announce their arrival by howling. Sometimes striking so much fear into the enemy theyâd flee.
The Quileute people say otherwise about the direwolves. Claiming that they themselves were the direwolves. Denying that they ever raised such beasts, hence no evidence, but there was no proof to support their original claim.
As a tribe they were used to human threats. Other men trying to conquer their tribe and land. All until the arrival of the âcold onesâ, people that were made of hard stone, and an unnatural thirst for human blood.
Claiming that the reason they could shift into the powerful wolf, was to kill such horrific creatures, in order to best protect not only their people but humanity it self.â
It sounded like they were describing vampires y/n thought. She only had fuzzy faint memories of her grandfathers story. Surely she wouldâve remembered if he mentioned talk of vampires.
The thought of them sent shivers down her spine. How could vampires even be real? The way her people described them made her feel scared. How would they even come across one, let alone many, and also be able to kill them?
Just how big did these wolves get to be? What was shifting exactly like? It was almost describing a werewolf. Intrigued by the idea y/n continued further.
âThe cold ones were creatures born of the night. They are unnatural and forever ravenous. Wishing to only feed on human flesh, the Quileute describe them as cannibals, cursed to live forever for their sins of eating human flesh. They appeared as attractive and seductive. With cold solid skin that shimmered like the sun on the water.
Their ability to transform into wolves they say came from one man. Whose name was name was long forgotten. As was his bloodline, they say the last of his line, died honourably to save the tribe. He was named as the last shifter and last wolf of the tribe.
A cold one had strayed from his partner and the trail. Belonging to a group of French colonizers who were trapping. The man found the village first, coming across a band of women and children, bathing and washing by the river.
Legends say the last shifter had to sacrifice his self to save the tribe. Other say it was him and also his sons who died in battle. All the stories end the same way. Wth both of the cold ones being killed and burned to ash. Stating that the cold ones ate many women and children before the last wolf could stop him. Their bodies looked deflated, pale, and flat for they had no blood in their bodiesâ
An image was attached, a hand drawn depiction of the grimly scene, a woman being sucked at the neck with bodies surrounding. The cold oneâs eyes looked dark and ominous. Her eyes were piercingly light as she dressed in fine furs.
âFound yourself a good book I see?â A familiar voice chimed behind y/n surprising her out of her trance. It was Renesmee who stood with a sweet smile. Giggling slightly at y/nâs scared reaction.
âRenesmee! I didnât realize you were hereâ she replied as her nerves settled. âI seen you come in earlier but you looked interested in reading. I didnât want to disturb you but I wanted to say hi. I wasnât able to talk to you at the bonfire the other nightâ
âYeah sorry about that we thought the cruise wouldnât be so long. I was hoping to see you tooâ
âJacob ended up wanting to leave. I think he was too tired to be honest. But anyways I heard from Jacob you recently moved back here. Is that true?â She asked with eyes full of wonder. Y/n couldnât help but take notice of her ethereal beauty, how perfect her brown hair was, or how her skin glistened under the sunshine.
âI mean yeah but Iâm not new to the areaââ
âGreat to hear. That means I can show you around. Yâknow Iâve read this book before and itâs a great readâ she said as y/n clasped the book close. âY-Yeah it has been so far. I think Iâm going to buy it actually. I want to read it moreâ she said her hands covering the front of the book.
âWait⊠Iâm not sure this is the same one Iâve read actually. Can I check the cover?â Renesmee asked as she reached to flip the book over. âSureââ y/n replied before her hands touched her, as they did the air from her lungs sucked out, and her field view changed before her.
She was stuck in the middle of the forest again. The same exact spot she had been stuck in the past. Another flash and the sky was no longer night but day. With a blinding sun that shined down on her.
The next was the moon flashing in her face. With the same intensity as the sun somehow. The sound of heavy footsteps on soft earth intensely struck the ground. Shocked and scared she couldnât move not even a budge.
All she could see now, was a pair of eyes, glaring at her in the dark. Peering out through the darkness as it came forward. Gray eyes revealed to be the gray wolf once more. As he stepped out of the shadows to reveal itself.
Renesmeeâs grip loosened as y/n stumbled backwards. Air rushing back into her lungs. Dropping the book to the floor suddenly. A cold sweat was running down her back as she looked up at her. Renesmeeâs eyes fixed onto her neck, before looking back up at y/n, as she smiled Innocently.
âWhatâs wrong? I donât want the book *that* bad. I said I read it already *remember*?â she said with such a nonchalant tone. Y/n felt her stomach instantly turn into a big huge knot. Something was *off* and she *needed* to leave.
Picking up the book Renesmee helped her with it. âHere. You have to be carefulâ she said in a sweeter and much softer tone. But not enough for y/n to feel even slightly normal. Rushing to get up she felt her gut turning worser by the second. Her hand somehow brushed against hers once more.
Flashes of red filled her vision, similar to a strobe light, it made her stumble down again. âAre you sure youâre fine? You keep stumbling all over the store hereâ she said clutching y/nâs arm. Upon her touch she writhed away from Renesmeeâs grip.
Turning around immediately she slapped a large money bill on the counter. âThank you?â The man behind the register said as she practically ran out. Renesmee stood quiet as she watched her take off.
In a panic she ran down to her car. Only to be met with something in front of her stiff as concrete. âWoah there. You okay?â A voice said making her look up, it was Jacob his self, he held her shoulders as he helped her steady.
âY/n?â
âJacob?â
She asked bewildered by the encounter. âYeah Iâm okay you just surprised meâ y/n replied as he smiled. âMe too. You came out pretty quickly. Like a bat out of hell. You okay?ââ he tried asking again but it only triggered her flashbacks to the vision. She could see sharp teeth snapping down, the sound of growling and snarling, as the wolves ran beside each other.
Y/nâs face drained of its colour turning her pale. Jacob noticed as he furrowed his eyebrows. âWhatâs wrong?â He asked with a genuine concern. His face somehow reminded her of the weird visions she was plagued with.
Renesmee stepped out of the book store. Jacob turned and greeted her like normal. But y/n fled down the path way with no shame or warning. More focused on her and her own sanity.
Y/n hopped into her car and sped home. Hoping and praying she wouldnât come across Renesmee on the road. She so much as didnât even want to think or utter her name. For fear of somehow summoning her.
Her grip was tight on y/nâs hand but she felt warm. At least she was warm instead of having an unnatural coldness. It actually surprised y/n she was warm, but it didnât rid her of her suspicions, there was something about Renesmee that was different.
If she was a cold one, like she suspected, what could she even do? They were cannibals, literal blood sucking monsters, how could one defend themselves? They had to be just some stories elders told to keep kids inside.
Ridding the thought of her she hustled back home. It was raining outside, not as much as usual, it was more of a spit than anything. The smell was calming her down somewhat. Not as much as she wanted or hoped really.
There was no way she could think otherwise if she wanted to feel safe. That girl Renesmee just had to be a sweet normal human. And something else was plaguing the mind of y/n. For her to even experience something as this so often.
How far would these delusions go? It wasnât as if she was this fascinated by such fantasyâs. Vampires never interested her much. Werewolves also she never paid attention to any fiction such as that. It was a big question on why y/n kept having such delusions.
Flashes of what she experienced kept coming to her. How Renesmeeâs eyes although sweet were filled with a never ending darkness. Last she seen her eyes they were so dark. But this time they were a lighter color, a brown almost auburn, how could she never notice?
Her hands were practically shaking as she gripped the steering wheel. Driving fast she kept her eyes on the road. As the rain continued to pour down onto the ground. She could see something following her in the corner of her eye. But she dared not to look away from the road.
Although y/n wanted desperately to go back home, to her safe space, in her gut she knew it was a bad idea. Since Kim didnât want to answer she knew who she could rely upon. Her grandmother Molly, she was a great comfort to her, anytime she was in need she answered. Even now she answered her obscure call.
âGramma? Are you home?â She called out with clear desperation in her voice. âYes. Whats wrong?â Was all she said to make y/n melt into a child again. âNothing⊠Iâm just missing you and wondering if I would be able to sleep over?â Although y/n was trying to be discreet Grandma Molly could sense her true intentions.
âIâll be home my girl. Drive safe itâs raining outâ Grandma Molly knew sheâd arrive sooner than later. Y/n needed to grab clothes but she dreaded going back home. Pulling up to her driveway she sat in the car for a moment.
âShitâ y/n said out loud as she groaned. The anxious feeling churning deep in her. Itâll have to be quick but simple in and out. Stepping out she rushed to the door, still worried about the wolf from earlier, almost dropping her keys out of fear.
Getting inside the house it was quiet and undisturbed. Taking a second to pause and wait. A wave of peace fell over her in the moment. Debating if she wanted to stay and just visit her grandmother. Come home sometime later this evening. Itâd be great if she could truly relax.
All until she could hear creaking floorboards in the upstairs hallway. The sound of weight shifting around the floors. A sinking feeling made her stop in her tracks.
âWhat the fuck?â She thought frozen in place again, a familiar eerie feeling washed right over her, she knew it wasnât right to come here. A moment passed as she awaited for something she didnât know.
Pulling her courage from somewhere in her. She grabbed the baseball bat she left hidden by the door. Y/n marched right up the stairs into her room ready to face whatever it may be. She wasnât dumb enough to not have a weapon nearby. Especially as a young woman living alone.
Her bedroom window was open slightly with watery tracks everywhere. Nothing was taken or trashed but someone was inside. Only her bedroom was on the second floor. Who knew how to climb and then open her window?
After checking the house top to bottom with no intruder in sight. Y/n packed up a bag to go and see her grandmother. Locking every single window and door in sight before leaving.
Arriving at the house she felt relieved. This was the familiarity she has been searching for. Since y/n moved in the house her grandmother moved in with her sister Melissa. Everyone in the family called her âgrandma Millyâ. Who was Kimâs direct grandmother, since they were getting older, they decided it best to look after one another.
âMy girlâ Molly cooed as she hugged y/n tightly. Sinking into her arms she felt the comfort she needed. âWhatâs wrong?â She immediately asked y/n once they both let go. Shaking her head profusely âNothings wrong. I just miss you is allâ y/n answered.
Grandma Molly looked at her searching for dishonesty. Y/n didnât feel itâd be appropriate to tell everything so far. She would eventually but for now she just wanted peace. As if she knew grandma Molly didnât push any further. Instead bringing y/n inside for dinner.
âHow are you settling into the house? Are you feeding yourself? You look paleâ she fussed over y/n at the table. âIâve been feeding myself yesââ she tried to say before grandma Milly cut her off. âAre you sure? You look thinner than last I seen youâ
âIâve been adjusting to living alone. I donât think Iâve withered away that muchâ y/n joked but the two didnât let up. âHmâ was all Milly said as they finished dinner. Eventually she cleared everyoneâs dishes. The two could sense something was up with y/n very quickly.
Settling in the living room they spent the evening watching TV together. Checking her phone she wondered about Kim. It was unusual for her to not answer. Chalking it up to her being busy, she wished she would answer, she needed her support.
âIâm going to go rest. My meds are kicking inâ Milly said as she left the room. Bidding goodnight to the two girls. Y/n continued to watch tv as her grandma looked over at her with worry.
âMy girl are you sure youâre okay? I donât mind a surprise visit like this. Itâs just⊠You seemed panicked earlier when you calledâ Grandma Molly pushed her. Seeing it was just the two of them alone y/n sighed in defeat.
âI mean I am fine. Itâs just ever since I got here I just⊠I donât knowâ y/n struggled to find the words. âI love the house. Iâm very grateful for everything youâve given me so far. So I donât want come off as rudeâ
âI knew it! The house is too much work for you isnât it? I was worried this would happen but I figured you wanted your own space. Quil was so adamant you get the house when we talked about itââ
âNo no thatâs not the issue here. The housework I can handleâ y/n explained making her grandma sigh in relief. âItâs just ever since I moved in⊠a lot of stuff has been bothering meââ
âOh I know you loved your grandfather. Itâs a hard loss for everyone and a big adjustmentââ
âI mean like actually bothering meâ y/n almost spat out making Molly sit up. âWhat do you mean? I thought I told you to smudge the house after I left. You know itâs important especially since we cleared everything from there. You donât want something else moving inâ Milly explained as y/n sighed deeply. Figuring out the best way to explain.
âI did smudge with sweet grass even. What Iâm trying to get at is my dreams have been crazy lately. And I canât help but feel like theyâre trying to tell me something. Show me something anywaysâŠâ y/n trailed off unsure on what her grandmother would say.
Molly sat quiet for a moment as she looked at y/n. âWhat did you see?â She asked as y/n looked up into her eyes. âThe first couple of times Iâm lost in the woods. Iâm being chased or else Iâm running to find something. Iâm not sure reallyâ
âOh Iâm sure your dreams are just reflecting how you feel here. Iâm sure youâre feeling a little overwhelmed by everythingâ Molly tried to understand. But all y/n did was shake her head.
âI seen grandpa in one of themâ y/n said making the expression on Mollys face drop completely. âWhat happenedâ she asked with quite a serious tone. âIt was⊠strange to say the leastâ y/n shivered thinking back on it. Molly awaited for y/n to continue.
âEach time in my dream Iâm in the same spot in the forest. Confused and lost. All of a sudden, in this one dream, someone had asked me if I was lost. I looked up and it was grandpa. He laughed, went behind a tree, he came out as his younger selfâ hearing this made grandma Molly gasp. And tear up at the thought as she covered her mouth.
âAw well that tells me heâs doing well. Donât you think so?â She asked y/n who sat quietly. A solemn look on her face told Molly otherwise. Raising her eyebrows at her granddaughter y/n gave in.
âWhen he left he⊠he was⊠I swear he turned into a wolf and ran into the tree lineâ y/n finally confessed. Y/n expected her gramdma to chalk it up to some crazy dream. That stress had been affecting her and her sleep so of course sheâd dream crazy.
Instead grandma Molly sat quiet with a hand on her mouth. Staring off into the distance in deep thought. âGramma?â She peered curious thinking itâd snap her back to the conversation.
âHave you seen Kim lately? Did she or anyone else come talk to you yet?â She asked making y/n confused. âNo she didnât answer me. What do you mean talk to me yet?â Molly sat up and held y/nâs hand in comfort.
âYou must be tired. What with all your stress. For me the dream is just grandfather coming to visit you. You know how heâs always been attached to wolves and their spirit. Rest easy and have some peace of mindâ Was all Molly said as she basically dismissed the conversation. Feeling like there was a blockage y/n settled with just going to bed.
There was no dream or nightmare that night as well. Maybe it really was just stress y/n thought. Eating breakfast with her two grandmothers they discussed their day ahead.
âMe and Milly here have to attend a meeting today. Youâre welcome to stay here if you want while weâre gone. Fridge is stocked and the TV will be freeâ
Y/n knew her grandma Molly was a councillor. But grandma Milly wasnât, she questioned what meeting they would have together, but instead of being too nosey she let it slide. She wasnât quite sure what grandma Milly did to be honest. Besides bingo and chain smoke everywhere she went.
âYep youâre lucky my show isnât on todayâ grandma Milly teased her making the two chuckle. âNo thatâs okay grandma I think I ought to head home. Thereâs some things I left unfinishedâ y/n picked her fork around her breakfast. She wondered about Kim for some reason.
It was quite unusual for her not to answer y/n, especially since itâs been a whole day later, surely she wasnât upset at her? Or even worse she was in some danger? It seemed ridiculous but y/n knew Kim was never not on her phone. The ignorance from Kim seemed deliberate.
âWell youâre always welcome to stay again anytime. Me and this girl arenât usually this busy most daysâ
âIâm glad I came, I really needed this visit, thank you guysâ y/n smiled at the two. Finishing up their breakfast the three departed on their separate ways. Y/n wasnât lying about having a great visit. Itâs just she left with more questions than answers.
Would nothing explain these crazy delusions sheâd been having? Perhaps she needed to just focus on self care, cut out her stress somehow, to make it all stop. But it all didnât explain the possible intruder in her home.
It wasnât like she just dreamt up the wet muddy tracks in her room. But really what could she do about it? She lived alone and it wasnât like her grandmother could do anything. Sheâd tell Quil but what would he even say or do? Most likely just call her crazy and be bothered she made him check the house.
Getting back to the house she sat in the car for a moment. Her beloved childhood home was starting to feel different. She knew the energy would change once it was just her in the house. She didnât want to think it, but sadly, it was starting to feel unsafe.
With a deep sigh she stepped into the house. Pausing for a moment to hear anything. Doing a quick perimeter check there was no one around. In moments such as this she wish she had someone to rely on.
That evening she did what she could to cheer herself up. Deciding to clean up her room and area. Before doing a complete pampering routine, a hot bubble bath, fit with a sheet mask to keep her skin soft. Doing what she could to also make herself feel comfortable being here alone.
Watching reruns of her favourite tv shows, she kept all the TVs in the house on, as a way to fill the eerie silence. Cooking her favourite foods she settled in somewhat. Praying that her windows would stay shut tonight.
As she slept she had a very lucid dream that freaked her out. It started out with her in laying bed like usual. Opening her eyes a few times to her room like normal. Until in the corner stood a dark shadow, a woman with long hair stood, just out of sight. But y/n knew she was there watching.
As her vision faded in and out the woman eventually stepped out. The light from the window shined down on her. Only to reveal the one and only Renesmee, her eyes dark with a straight expression, her mouth slowly started to open wide.
Revealing small but sharp fangs it made y/n startle out of her sleep. As she sat up Renesmee wasnât in the room as she thought. Her window wasnât open and there werenât any tracks on the floor. But her heart was racing more than ever.
It was five am and y/n couldnât go back to sleep for the life of her. She was way too freaked out to even think of lying down. Instead she hyped her self up with many cups of coffee. She did message Quil to try and hang but no answer from that guy either.
She was already not trying to overthink about the bonfire. But now she was starting to wonder did she mess up somehow? Or maybe their friends didnât really care about her? She wasnât sure but it was unusual for those two to ignore her.
Everything so far was making her feel so isolated. Was it truly a good idea to come back to the rez? This was what she was trying to escape, being alone in isolation, but it seems it whatâs sheâs walked into. Maybe even a worser case now with the delusions.
All day she spent it on the couch, the heavy rain seemed to match her mood, as she anxiously awaited nightfall. What would await for her when she fell asleep? She didnât even want to fathom it. Listening to the rain pour down onto the house it calmed her slightly.
Watching the tv she began to slowly drift off to sleep. Feeling somehow safer on the couch with the dim light of the grey clouds. Eyes and body heavy as her eyes fluttered shut. Itâd be best to get sleep while she could. Hoping not to see Renesmee once more.
Suddenly someone was knocking and pounding on her door. In a very erratic and panicked manner it shocked her. Sitting up she checked her phone but there were no messages. No one called her either it confused her who would be there.
âPlease! Open up itâs me!â The girl begged as y/n recognized the voice. Rushing to open the door to reveal a rain soaked Kim. Standing there with tears streaming as she sobbed hard. âKim?â y/n asked worried and concerned. âI need youâ Kim sobbed out as she grabbed y/nâs shoulders.
Chapter 3 is finished đ€ Finally settled into my home after moving in a short while ago. Got caught up with writing more. I wanted to write more insight into an outsiders perspective. How shifters and vampires would look like to ordinary people. Especially the tribeâs over all insight. The next few chapters will be interestingđ€
After inheriting her grandparents house in the Quileute reservation, La Push, Y/N moves to her home rez. Hoping to start a new life she is soon involved with what she thought were just old legends.

CHAPTER 2
<< CHP 1 | CHP 3 >>
Y/n gazed out of her kitchen window towards the tree line. Her mind else where as she continued to wipe the same dish over and over. Kim took notice as she raised an eyebrow at her cousin.
âY/n? Are you alright?â She asked curious making y/n snap out of it. Turning her head to see the worry on Kimâs face she smiled. âSorry I didnât get enough sleep last nightâ she explained easing Kimâs mind.
Kim was spending the night. Both wanted to pull up to the bonfire together. But also get a private visit before anything. Although it was all Kim could focus on y/nâs mind was scattered.
It had been a few days since she first started dreaming crazy. Ever since that first night and the dream of the girl, Renesmee, she's haunted her mind since.
In the dreams sheâs always lost in the woods behind her house. Unsure of why sheâs there or what she should do. Stuck in an ocean of darkness until she finds moonlight. The feeling switched between being hunted down or else she was searching for something.
Each time her mind tried to focus on avoiding Renesmee. As long as her legs didnât give out. She would just run and run until it felt time slowed down.
âSo how do you feel about tomorrow? Excited?â Kim questioned her. âYeah I mean it sounds like funâ although she didnât sound as enthusiastic as Kim wanted. She wasnât lying about being excited for tomorrow. Itâs just her mind was elsewhere.
âThatâs believableâ Kim said sarcastically making y/n scoff. âI am Kim really. I need a break from all this packing and unpackingâ y/n said with a deep sigh. All she wanted was her dreams to calm down. Kim knew what would perk up her cousin.
âPut down the plate and letâs go sit on the porchâ she said holding a joint in her hand. Agreeing instantly the two grabbed blankets and sat down on the bench outside. After a few puffs between them they sat in comfortable silence.
âSo how does it feel living here? Must be weird with gramma and grampa out of the houseâ Kim said as she took the joint back. Y/n nodded her head as she exhaled. âI thought so too but now that my stuff is here⊠I donât know itâs just different. I do miss him most daysâ she said staring out into the field.
The topic of her grandfather brought up her dream last night. Again she was lost being chased by something, and as she ran, her legs began to falter. She knew she couldnât let herself stop. But she fell to her knees and hands almost instantly.
Again darkness and more darkness. Trees and more trees it never ended she thought. âGet up! Get up!â She cried to herself but to no avail. Like a newborn foal who couldnât find its footing.
Frustrated she tore at the ground beneath her. Ripping out every root and plant in her path. Clutching down on pine needles she winced in pain. Looking down at her hands upset at herself.
âAre you lost girl?â A voice beamed throughout the air. Searching around she knew who the voice belonged to, her grandfather Quil, he stood in the shadows to the left.
When she spotted him he laughed stepping out of the shadows. He looked like the old man that he was before he died. As he walked past a tree he appeared as his young former self. Shocking y/n as he smiled brightly once more.
Walking deeper in the woods he disappeared into the shadows. His laugh morphing into a howl echoing everywhere. Hearing not two feet leaving but four heavy paws trailing off.
âI desperately need a break from everything right now⊠Iâm excited for tomorrow. Is there anything I should bring?â Y/n said as she took the joint. Passing it back to Kim she smiled âWell I mean you could bring more of thisâ Kim showed the joint making y/n laugh.
âBut other than yourself? No you donât need to bring anything. Everyone else has it coveredâ Y/n raised an eyebrow as she finally put the joint out. âEveryone else?â Y/n questioned as Kim realized y/n wasnât used to her lifestyle.
âI just mean that Emily and Sam usually cover the food part. Sam is mean on the barbecue. Emily does the rest. The boys all pitch in for drinks if they donât opt to just make jungle juiceâ Kim explained.
In high school Y/n used to go to bonfire parties in the summer with Quil and Kim. From what she remembers they were lots of fun. One could say maybe even too much fun.
âYikes I donât think Iâve had Jungle Juice since highschoolâ she cringed remembering some unsavoury moments. Kim laughed with her reminiscing. The two enjoyed the rest of the night together. Opting to do skincare masks and pedicures to pass time while visiting.
âAw I shouldâve gotten more earlierâ Kim said as she showed her empty bag of w*ed. âJared usually buys me some but he also smokes it upâ she sighed annoyed before pulling out her phone. âThere isnât any dispensaries open this hourâ y/n said while looking at the clock it read thirty minutes after six.
âOh I know Iâm texting Quil. He always hasâ she said with a smile. It didnât take long for Quil to reply. Letting the girls know if they come over quick he could. He was going to be gone soon so if they didnât stop by soon theyâd miss out. Kim vowed sheâd pay him back when she can head into town.
Up for a late night cruise the girls hopped into y/nâs car. Picking a song and turning up the music the two headed out. Luckily Quilâs place was close to y/nâs. As they pulled up they noticed a different car sitting in the driveway.
Kim recognized the car right away. âWhoâs car?â Y/n asked Kim as they parked. âOh thatâs Embryâsâ she answered as she unbuckled her seat belt before jumping out of the car. Signalling y/n to come with her she felt a bit nervous.
âDonât worry heâs a good guy. Watchâ Kim assured y/n as she knocked on the door. But as quick as her hand left the door Quil answered. âHey guysâ he greeted them as they walked in.
Unsure she gathered herself to enter the living room. There Embry sat at the table, he was tall but had a more slim build, dark skin and hair his eyes looked kind. Her nervousness washing away as their eyes met. Although he still had an underlying intensity to him.
âEmbry this is my cousin y/n. Sheâs just moved hereâ Quil introduced the two as he rose from his chair. For a slim build under his flannel you could notice his muscles. He grinned at y/n showing off his fangs.
âHey Iâm Embryâ he said as he stood beside Quil. âHiâ y/n said as she couldnât help but blush. Which Quil took notice of as he glared at his brother. Who could only keep his toothy grin on his face while staring at y/n.
âDonât mind this guy heâs not used to new peopleâ Quil teased obviously annoyed as he ruffled Embryâs hair. Causing him to push off Quil, the two started to laugh, and get more rougher with one another. Startling y/n despite knowing the two were playing.
âAlrightâAlright!â Kim said as she pushed past the two breaking them up. âYou idiots better smarten up y/n isn't used to your rough housingâ The two broke up and smiled before laughing some more. Embry looked down at y/n catching her off guard.
âIâm fineâ Y/n said following behind her as the two girls made their way to the table. âI had to wrap it tinfoil I donât have any plastic bagsâ Quil said pointing to where it was. Kim picked up the tinfoil making a face of disgust as she scoffed.
Quil shrugged his shoulders as Kim continued. âBut this makes it look like Iâm a crackhead. Who carries a ball of tinfoil?â Quil groaned as y/n laughed. âIt doesnât look that bad Kimâ y/n tried to convince her.
âHey beggars canât be choosersâ He said to her. It wasnât long before her eyes lit up again. âCan I at least get a smoke off you ?â She asked and even though Quil looked annoyed. He still grabbed four smokes from his cigarette pack.
Kim thanked him and said sheâd get him back. But y/n knew Quil wouldnât want anything in return when sheâd eventually return the favour. Embry on the other hand was eyeing y/n up and down. Kim noticed his eyes as if he was inspecting her.
Embry snapped out of his trance. Putting on a smile on his face trying to ignore Kimâs stare. âSo y/n what do you think of the rez so far?â Embry piped up trying to change the subject, while also getting to know y/n, she intrigued him. Catching y/nâs attention as they locked eyes once more.
Quil once more quickly butt in. âSheâs been coming here her whole life man. Itâs not like itâd be a big change right sisâ he stood glaring at Embry. Who took note of Quilâs defensiveness of his beloved cousin. Y/n hardly noticed the interaction but Kim had taken note.
âItâs been great yâknow? Iâm glad to be back here. Excited for the bonfire tomorrowâ y/n replied as Embry had a look of excitement. âHey I'm glad youâre gonna be there. Yeah itâll be a good time. Lots of food and drink to go aroundâ y/n nodded in response as he spoke.
Quil and Kim could see the connection between the two. For Quil it pissed him off to see Embry basically ogle y/n. Kim on the other hand was excited for the two and was already plotting for them to become a couple.
The two continued to make small talk. Talking about what each other does for a living, etc. Eventually the conversation turned back to the bonfire party. âDo you play any sports?â Embry asked her.
âUhââ she said trying to answer somehow without disappointing Embry. She figured sports would be a great excuse to get close to him. The thing was she utterly sucked hence she was an artist.
âSoccer? Football?ââ
âSorry I donât play sports. Not since high schoolâ she answered as Embry instead of being disappointed simply nodded his head. âReally? No sports at all? Do you even exercise or move around? Donât wanna get a hunch back from sitting all the timeâ Ow!â Quil said as Kim slapped him on his arm.
âI go for runs, Pilates, if I really want to switch it up Iâll do yoga. But not sports sorry not sorryâ y/n raised her hands up. Earning a chuckle from Embry and Kim.
âWell thatâs fine you can sit and visit with me! I donât play sports with the boys anymore either. Iâve learned my lesson from last timeâ
Kim replied as she sat staring into the floor. A moment of silence fell over the three as they remembered what happened. Y/n raised an eyebrow wondering if she should even ask.
âAnyway!â Iâll finally have someone to sit on the side lines with me. Leah always plays and Emily is usually off with Sam when she canâ Kim gushed excitedly. âOkay okay letâs save it for tomorrow. Skoâ outside and we can share this before we have to leave. Samâs expecting usâ Quil said as he held a pre-rolled j*int.
The three stood outside Quilâs front deck to light it. The two girls only had a few puffs especially y/n since she had to drive. After a great but quick visit the girls headed out. Bidding goodnight the two went back to the house.
As she drove off she noticed how neither of the men got into their trucks. Instead they ran towards the back of Quilâs house oddly enough. Kim and her spent the rest of the night together eventually falling asleep.
Before going to bed she hoped she would be able to sleep. She was constantly tossing and turning each night. But like every night since sheâs moved in her dream was intense.
Sucked right back to where she was last night, on her knees and hands buried into the dirt, unaware of her surroundings. The moon wasnât as bright as it was the first dream. Instead there were levels to darkness she didnât realize were possible.
She wondered if her grandfather were in these woods. Or maybe the mysterious girl Renesmee. She wasnât sure why she was always stuck back to this part of the forest. At this point it was starting to frustrate her. It alarmed her how more lucid it was all becoming.
It always felt as if she was meant to search for something. Find something or maybe even someone. Struggling to figure out what to do she took a moment to think.
Before anything she could hear twigs and leaves crunching. Hearing the weight of something moving beyond what she could see. What truly awaited for her in the dark? Frozen in fear she didnât even want to turn her head.
She could barely see a few feet in front of her. But as the clouds uncovered the moon it revealed many pairs of eyes. All glaring back at her with intent y/n couldnât read. All she could do was freeze hoping they wouldnât attack her.
In front of her eyes she could see the figure moving towards her. Witch each step she clenched in fear. Heart beat rising rapidly, this was a dream, would it even matter if she was attacked or not? For her it all felt way too real.
Out of the shadows was a wolf, which was abnormally huge, it's fur in different shades of grey. It stood still with its head lowered. Their grey eyes intensely focused on her own. And for the first time in a while she felt truly calm. Like she was looking at a part of herself.
All the wolves including the grey one whipped their heads to the right. Noticing something that she couldnât. A few took off in that direction, the ground shook beneath their paws, showing y/n how heavy these beasts were.
In unison they all howled causing y/n to panic. The rest of the wolves ran past her swiftly. The grey wolf stood still turning back to her. She locked eyes with the grey beast once more, a brief moment of where she felt it understood her, before it took a step towards her.
She woke up gasping and in a cold sweat. Unsure of what it all meant and why these dreams kept happening to her. There was something bothering her but what was it?
The spirit of her grandfather and now wolves? She couldnât help but question herself. All she could do is chalk it up to some crazy dreams. Although she hated to just ignore these issues her instincts told her sheâd figure it all out soon.
Focusing on the rest of her day she went downstairs. Finding Kim scoping out the fridge. Bidding each other a quick good morning. âDo you have any coffee creamer? I canât drink coffee without itâ Kim asked.
âUgh yâknow what? I forgot to buy some last time I went. Should we just go to the lodge? I heard they have good iced coffee thereâ Y/n suggested making Kim perk up instantly. âOu yes they do! Iâm downâ The two got ready and hopped into y/nâs car.
The lodge was a small diner on the reservation. Back in the day it served as a diner, you could find anything fried there, with a side of grease. But now it was reformed the menu having smoothies, teas, etc. Including a new cafe menu. Y/n hadnât been there in ages.
The morning sky was beautiful as the sun still gave a warm tint. Orange, yellow, and blue hues filled the sky. There was still a bit of fog from the morning dew. It felt nice to drive around so early.
The two sat in comfortable silence for a bit. Taking a moment to look at their surroundings. While also waking up fully. Although it didnât take long for Kim to break the silence.
âSo~ Embry seemed to have an eye on you yesterdayâ Kim said as she looked up from her phone. Y/nâs face flushed pink as she smiled slyly. Before shaking her head in disbelief.
âNo way youâre just saying thatâ she couldnât help but gush at the thought. âI'm being serious! To me it looked like he liked what he was seeingâ Kim although she was teasing she was truly being honest.
âGuess weâll have to see at the bonfire tonight huh?â She said as y/n shrugged her shoulders. âMaybeâ y/n said as she didnât want to completely dismiss the notion of Embry liking her. She couldnât deny he was handsome.
âYouâll be able to get to know him more after tonight. Heâs always with Quil nowadays. This is coming from someone whoâs lived here my whole lifeâ Kim continued about how close Quil and Embry are.
As she drove she looked to the sides of the road. It felt like there was something in her peripheral line of sight. Moving along with her but every time she turned there was nothing. Hoping it wasnât deer coming too close to the road.
âLook we barely met last night. Heâs cute and all but I donât think I have time for a boyfriend right nowâ
âCmon y/n if anything you have all the time in the world right now! Youâve been crying around for a break well I think this is it. Wouldnât hurt to have a boyfriend to have some fun with. Yâknow? Stress relief?â
Kim said making y/n laugh but she knew she was being serious. âIs that what Jared is for? Stress relief?â Y/n teased as Kim immediately stopped talking and pouted.
âHey me and his connection is more than just being sex fiends! Weâve been together for sixâactually almost seven years now! Weâre high school sweetheartsââ
âKim I justââ Y/n tried to cut in and calm her down but Kim continued on. The shadow figure in the corner of her eyes flickered closer. Y/nâs attention started to focus purely on the road. She sat in a cold sweat gripping the steering wheel.
âI think our connection is something to be admired. Honestly! What me and him have is rare no one can tell us otherwise! Iâm just trying to help you dear cousin find something close to what I have! And I strongly feel Embry might just be the oneââ
With a sharp gasp y/n swerved off the road to avoid Renesmee. Who stood suddenly in the centre of the road. Kim whose head was turned looking at y/n missed the sight. The car swerved and turned as y/n pulled onto the side.
Y/n slammed the brakes and parked. âWhat the hell?!â Kim cried out as she sat in her seat shocked. Thankfully both were wearing their seatbelts she thought. Luckily they didnât hit anything either or else it wouldâve been worse.
âDid you not see that girl? Holy shit!â Y/n said as she panted heavily shaking in fear. Her hands sweaty, realizing how tight her grip was, she let go and rubbed her hands. âWhat girl?! Thereâs no girl?!â Kim said while scanning the area. There was no sign of the girl anywhere.
The two felt the after math of the whiplash of turning abruptly. Kim rubbed her neck sorely as she frowned. Y/n was still shaking from her shot nerves. She closed her eyes and shook her head thinking of what she just seen.
âI donât know what the hell just happened. I swear there was a girl right in the middle of the road! She was just looking dead straight at the car. I thought she was going to jump! How could you not have seen her?â
âI donât know! I was justâWell I donât think we hit her⊠Did we?â
Kim questioned as the two looked at one another. Both went out and looked around. There was no sign of the girl anywhere including the car. With nothing on the grill Kim felt something was off. As the two got back into the car she questioned her.
âDid you see what the girl looked like?â
Y/n hesitated saying Renesmeeâs name. How could she explain to Kim, âoh yes the girl Jacob was withâ, without sounding crazy? âTall, thin, and pale with brown wavy hairâ y/n tried to be as vague as possible.
For Kim her mind started to turn. Y/n on the other hand was surprised Kim believed her. After a few seconds it clicked for Kim. There was no way it wasnât Renesmee, after her and Jacobâs big arrival, there was only one vampire in town.
It wouldnât be long before her family would follow. Kim knew she needed to alert Jared right away. Y/n noticed Kimâs behaviour change from surprised to serious. Kim turned to face her calmly, which in a strange way, comforted y/n immensely.
âLetâs just say it was a deer. Okay? Iâm sure it was with how much wild life there is here⊠in the meantime we should get going⊠I needed my coffee like yesterdayâ Kim said finishing off with an encouraging smile.
Y/n who was still shaken up struggled to put her seat belt back on. But agreed with her nonetheless. She wanted to get away from this road at this point.
âDo you want me to drive?â
âNo Iâll be okay. Just a bit shaken up but breakfast will cheer me upâ
As the two gathered them selves for breakfast. Y/n pulled out and continued down the road. Although Kim felt her cousin was handling herself. In y/nâs mind all that she could think of was the cold eyes of Renesmee.
Kim struggled to think of why Renesmee would do this. She had hardly knew the girl. But she did know she was a vampire, thatâs all she needed to know, all she could think was that she was hunting. Hoping she was a vegetarian like her family.
The thought of y/n somehow being on the menu for Renesmee terrified her. She knew she needed to keep y/n close to her side. At all costs even if y/n somehow got tired of her she decided.
Arriving at the diner it was a comfort for y/n. The building held a lot of close memories for her. It was also nice to just sit down and relax. Kim knew she needed to call Jared sooner than later.
âSo I was thinking about tonight, and I wanted us to have a bit of fun before we leave, how about I get Jared to drive us? He can be our DD and you donât have to worry about driving?â Kim was sincere on this offer. Jared wouldnât mind knowing him Kim thought.
âYou sure? I mean itâs no issueâŠDid I scare you that much earlier? Iâm sorry I just swear I seen that girl. She was so close to hitting the car I panickedââ
âNo no youâre good there I believe you! I still trust you and your driving skills. But like I said I wanted us two to pregame at least. Canât pregame and drive at the same timeâ
Y/n thought of it as Kim was already texting Jared. âYâknow what? Sure why notâ y/n agreed as she smiled while Kim got up from her chair. âIâm gonna call and ask him now. The sooner the better with that guyâ she joked while heading outside.
âIâll be back in time to orderâ she said to y/n before Jared picked up. Kim quickly told him the situation, about how they seen Renesmee, although he didnât show it Jared was stunned. Kim knew it as soon as he became serious.
âIâm going to be honest with you Quil told us about her already. But Iâll look into where Renesmee was this morning. Iâll be by to pick you guys up around sixâ he promised explaining where he was currently.
Y/n sat inside deciding what she wanted to order. With their coffee already served she enjoyed the hot cup. Although it was already a chaotic morning she didnât want to let it ruin the day. She had a lot to look forward to.
Kim made her way inside eventually. The two ordered and enjoyed their breakfast. Sitting in a booth by the window y/n enjoyed the view. All until two figures came out of the distant fog. A woman and man both tall, broad, and skinny.
She looked curious at the two as they came out of the tree line. Walking on the road towards the diner, it was obvious the woman was getting after the man, who looked younger the more close he got. The two walking in a fast stride together as she roughed up the young guy.
The woman had short black hair and a beauty sheâd never seen before. Wearing a black leather jacket and ripped jeans her figure looked flawless. Even under such baggy clothes her slim body looked like a models.
The young guy didnât look a day over eighteen. With tan features as warm as his smile. He wore only a cut off sweat shirt and denim shorts. Despite it being the beginning of the year. It was hardly spring with how cold it still was.
It was funny watching the two obviously bicker and fight. But also it was so early where were they walking from y/n thought? The two wore regular sneakers so it wasnât like they were hiking. She couldnât help but be curious over the two.
Kim noticed the strange look on y/nâs face. Looking back she seen Leah and Seth Clearwater walking in. In her heart she knew why the two were truly there. âHey guysâ she greeted the two siblings as they came to the table.
âGood morningâ Seth said as he wore a joyful expression. Y/n felt stunned by the two especially the woman. Who wore a stoic expression as she nodded to Kim. âWhoâs this?â Leah asked while looking at y/n.
âRemember that cousin I was talking about? Well guys this is her, her names y/n, she just moved back. Y/n this is Leah and her little brother Sethâ Kim smiled as the two eyed her down. Sethâs eyes were kinder Leahâs was defensive and curious.
âHiâ y/n said nervously as Seth grinned. âHi Iâm Seth! Good to see a new pretty face around hereââ he said before Leah nudged him with her elbow harshly. Making him cough as Leah finally smiled at her.
âYeah It was nice meeting you y/n. Kim weâre just gonna pick up our food and head out. Do youâŠ?â Leah trailed on hoping Kim would take notice. Subtly hinting around if she needed any help. Kim knew Jared mustâve sent her to check on them.
âNo Iâm good. Weâll see you laterâ Kim said trying to dismiss them before y/n noticed anything. âHope to see you at the party later y/n!â Seth tried to get out before Leah pushed him around.
âHey yeah I hope to see you there y/n. Itâll be good to have another girl to visit. I wish we could stay and chat now but weâre on a tight scheduleâ Leah smiled making y/n feel more comfortable. Smiling in return she made Leahâs heart skip a beat. âHaha yes Iâve heard that before. Weâll see you guys thereâ y/n joked as Leah was instead being pushed out by Seth.
âLetâs go before Sam notices we leftâ Seth ushered Leah as the two grabbed their bags. Sneaking a quick breakfast sandwich on their patrol shift. The two bid goodbye before walking back the same way.
âWhere are they even going? They legit just came out of the woodsâ y/n questioned as Kimâs eyes widened. She didnât think she would notice them. âUhh well they like walkingââ Kim choked a bit on her food âThey live close near here. Yâknow itâs not that weird most people from the rez walk everywhereâ she tried to explain.
Y/n shrugged it off as the two paid for their meals. Kim loves her dear cousin, it was horrible she had to hide who she was, and what type of life she truly led. She wondered how long before the veil comes off.
The house was filled with music as y/nâs speaker played loudly. Luckily her closest neighbour was all at least 1-2 kilometres away. The two sat up in y/nâs room as she scanned through her closet.
âI feel like I need new clothes. I mean what can I wear? Itâs so cold out you canât really dress cuteâ y/n complained as she continued skimming through her closet. Kim sat on the edge of the bed filing her nails. She sighed and put down the file.
âTrue but Iâm sure I can figure something out if you want me to lookâ
âItâs okay I think I got an outfit lined up. What are you going to wear?â She asked Kim as she perked up from her seat. âI have this really cute jacket I wanna wear. Some jeans and maybe a pair of bootsâ Kim continued. Eventually fading to background noise for y/n as she sighed.
In y/nâs mind the flashes of Renesmeeâs eyes kept haunting her. How she appeared in her dream. All morning she had been trying to shake off the stressful feeling. It mustâve showed on her face since Kim looked worried to her.
âDonât worry from what Iâve seen in your closet youâll be fine. Actually I know youâll be looking *fineâ* Kim assured y/n as she grabbed her hips. Y/n giggled but then turned back to being serious.
âItâs not the outfit Iâm worried about⊠itâs just this morningâŠâ Y/n felt as if her mind was cloudy. All attempts of moving and brushing it off seemed futile. Kims eyes widened as soon as she mentioned Renesmee.
âThat girl? Y/nââ
âLook I donât expect you to fully believe me. I know how I soundâŠBut itâs just I feel like everything is catching up to meâ
âEverything?â Kim questioned as she looked upon her cousins weary face. She slowly approached her as y/n looked up. âIâve been dreaming crazy lately. I donât know how to explain it. But Iâm having a hard time trying to explain and understand it all myselfâ y/n sighed this time more solemnly.
âLook I get it⊠Things have been crazy for you lately what with grandpas death, Inheriting this house to yourself, living in a new place. But I think you just need to take a moment. Gather yourself and letâs have a good time together. Right? When was the last time you and I had fun together besides last night? Tonight is just one night you can forget all your other worriesâ
Kim encouraged y/n which did help her a lot. Y/n looked up at herself in the mirror with Kim behind her. Who smiled as she hugged her from the back. Y/n held onto her arms as the two looked at one another in the mirror.
âYouâre right⊠Everything in my life has been so serious lately. Itâll be a fun night tonightâ y/n said honestly as Kim grinned brightly. âSee? Thatâs the spirit! Itâll be great, Iâll introduce you to everyone, weâll have a lot of laughsâ Kim stepped away to grab one of y/nâs jackets off the rack.
âAnd I think youâll look hot in thisâ she said making y/n laugh. âWell we should get ready soon right? Isnât Jared coming by soon?â y/n said making Kim realize the time. She nodded as she pulled out her phone. Seeing her missed notifications from Jared.
âVery true. I gotta answer him actually heâs tried calling me once alreadyâ Y/n nodded as Kim left the room heading downstairs. Stepping out onto the porch Kim made sure y/n couldnât hear. Once she knew y/n wasnât in earshot she got her phone. After the first ring Jared had answered Kim.
âHeyâ
âHey there handsome. So what did you find?â Kim asked as she leaned against the porch railing. Jared sighed as he slammed the truck door. Tired as he walked inside Samâs house.
âSo we know Jacob and Renesmee are back in town. Samâs all uptight because we know the Cullens arenât far behind. I just got back from seeing Jacob actuallyâ Kim cut in almost immediately. âWhat did he say?â She asked eagerly waiting for him to answer.
ââWell all I know is Renesmee has been with him this whole time. She hasnât left his sight since they got hereâ
âWhat?â Kim asked confused, she thought y/n had seen her today, who else could move that fast? âYeah Jacob swears sheâs been home. I did my part and got the info out of him. Now you gotta explain why. Are you in trouble? Donât tell me something happened with a vampireââ
Jared asked worried sick, because why would his beloved ask about a vampire, when he knew she could care less about them? Kim shushed him over the phone as she stepped further from the house.
ââLook weâre both fine! I canât really explain at the moment. Maybe later when the timing is better. But for now thank you for the intel. And again weâre both fine! Perfectly fine! Iâm busy with my cousin y/n right now remember? Weâre tryna get ready for the party. On that note are you gonnaââ
âYes Iâll be coming by in a bit here to pick up the both of you. Letâs say in an hour? I still gotta do a patrol check before the other guys swap inâ Jared answered before she could even finish. The two operated on the same wave length since forever.
For Kim it was always a lovely feeling when they were in sync. She smiled ear to ear as she thanked him. Before promising something special for him later tonight. Which made Jared smile the same way.
âBut youâre sure you and y/n are okay? I can come by nowââ
âThank you! Love you Iâll see you in a bitâ Kim said blowing a few kisses before hanging up. Jared sighed as he put his phone away. Kim decided to brush off the whole Renesmee ordeal. Because really it couldâve been anyone in front of the car. All that mattered to Kim was no one was hurt or killed.
On the other hand she was worried for her cousin. Kim knew she wasnât crazy but something in her gut told her, y/n was going through something, Kim trusted sheâd get to the bottom of it. Opting to watch over y/n closely from now on.
Jared arrived when he said he would. His pickup truck roaring loud announcing his arrival. Hopping in the truck y/n prepared herself for the whole ordeal. Wondering who else sheâll meet tonight.
The sky was filled with baby blues, soft orange hues, and pink highlights. As the sun was getting close to sunset it was already so colourful outside. The three chatting as Jared drove music blasting.
Pulling up she could see a group of people running around the beach. They were dressed as if it was summer. Shorts and hoodies some even wore cutoff shirts. Kicking around a soccer ball playing a game.
The three got out of the truck as Kim linked arms with y/n. Making her feel even more comfortable. At the main fire there were logs people were sitting on. One woman and one man sat together, rising up once they approached, the rest stopped playing and made their way to the fire.
âHey guysâ Kim said as the two people made their way to greet them. The woman had a scar right across her face but it didnât affect her beauty. With dark soft straight hair, beautiful cheekbones, she was tall around 5â7. Y/n felt her self taken away by her beauty but was quickly overtaken by the man who was at her side.
The man was huge, at least 6â5-6â6 he stood with broad shoulders, looking fierce which made y/n feel intimidated. Black hair with eyes that matched he held the scarred woman close to her side. Giving off a very intense feeling to y/n.
âHey glad you guys made itâ the woman said as the two smiled. âGuys this is my cousin Iâve been talking about. Say hi~â Kim said as the rest of the group arrived. Rushing in as a huge pack they surrounded the three.
âHey Iâm y/nâ she said as the group roared in excitement. From the group she could recognize was Quil, Leah, and Seth. No sign of Embry but a whole pack of rowdy boys eager to meet y/n. Before being able to mutter another word the boys spoke over each other.
âSo youâre the new girl?ââ
âFinally a new face pretty one at thatââ
âNew girl? I thought she was Kimâs cousinââ
âDo you play soccer?ââ
The man with the scarred woman gave a glare to the group. Before anything they all straightened themselves out. As he turned back he gave a kind smile, so did the woman, as they reached out to give a handshake.
âThanks for the inviteâ y/n gave a small smile as the crowd was stifling excitement. âNo problem. Weâre happy to have new people around. Hope youâre thirsty and hungry thereâs plenty to go aroundâ Emily waved her hands to the area.
Before she could take another step Seth rushed forward. Blocking the way as he smiled brightly. The crowd of boys circled around him as an even bigger blockade. Kim and Leah expressed their annoyance with a loud âughâ as Kim crossed her arms.
âSo y/n these are my bros lemme show you. We got Brady, Thomas, and Damien hereâ Seth introduced the boys. All whose face showed their youth but their bodies showed otherwise. With stern expressions and tight lips they scanned y/n.
The three boys outside of Seth looked around his age. All had dark thick hair, with lean tall figures, and tan skin. Shuffling up to the front were the younger boys. Faces whose expressions were a mix of either excited or nervous.
âThis is Colin, Don, and Lilâ Rickyâ Seth said as he ruffled up âLilâ Rickyâsâ hair messily. âMy names Rick youâre the only one who calls me Lilâ Rickâ he argued under Sethâs rough housing. âRicky Rick!â Colin chimed in as he joined Seth. Eventually the boys continued to all rough house on one another.
âUhâ Great meeting you guysâ Y/n said nervously as she watched the chaos ensue. They didnât look too different from one another, with boyish youth they were still small, lanky with lean bodies. Although they were quite tall for their ages they were still shorter than the rest of the guys present.
âJesus Christââ
âFor fucks sakeââ
Quil and Jared exclaimed as they cut them off quickly. Quil shoved himself into the middle of the blockade. âAlright thatâs enough! You guys have to settleâ he said before Leah joined in. âYeah Seth chill out! Go play with these stink boysâ she said as her and Jared grabbed them by the collars.
âYou guys donât even play right just straight dirty. My sis here doesnât need you guys being rough with herâ Quil barked as the boys just bashfully laughed. âThatâs this guy sending dirty kick shotsâ Thomas said to Don who began to argue once more.
Leah expressed her frustration by sighing, giving a glare to Seth, he took the hint. Shoving the rest of them in the direction of the play area. They just shrugged their shoulders and dusted them selves off. Still giggling and laughing as they went to continue the game.
âSorry about that theyâre usually not that⊠Well they donât usually act like thisâ Sam said trying to excuse their behaviour. âItâs no issue. A little too much excitement maybe?â Y/n joked making the rest of the group laugh. âI mean Iâm not much a soccer player anywaysâ she shrugged her shoulders.
âGreat! You can sit with me and tell me all about yourselfâ Emily said as she ushered in y/n to the campfire. Settling into the campsite they all began to visit. Asking y/n where sheâs from and what she likes.
âSo youâre an artist? Professionally?â Emily asked surprised. âYes itâs what Iâve been doing since Iâve been young, maybe 17-18, around there. I work and have trained to use most mediumsâ
Y/n continued since everyone seemed interested. Emily especially as she piped up in excitement. Which was a change from her usual nonchalant expression everyone else was used to
âThatâs awesome. Iâm an artist tooâ Emily said with a faint blush on her face. As Sam smiled with pride as he leaned on her. âReally?â Y/n asked glad to find a friend with similar interests. âOh yes sheâs one of La Pushâs greatest artistsâ He proudly proclaimed.
âWhat type of art do you make?â She asked Emily earnestly. âIâm a weaver, Iâm also a teacher, I teach kids weaving at the school here in La Pushâ Emily continued as Y/n was eager to hear more.
The two clicked together quite easily, finding a lot of each other in one another, in such a small amount of time. The rest of the group which was Sam, Jared, Kim, Leah, and Quil visiting one another. While the rest of the boys continued to play.
Eventually the group grew into a comfortable formality. The time passed like no other as the sun started to set among the horizon. The boys could no longer play without seeing. So they joined the others at the bonfire.
At this point all were fighting for the chance to talk to y/n. Kim and Quil had to remind everyone to settle every now and then. Since y/n sat being bombarded by questions. In all honesty y/n didnât mind much, it was fun being around so much excitement, she appreciated how friendly and close everyone was.
âI heard you girls had quite the wild morningâ Jared chimed in as everyone seemed to already know what happened. Given their reaction y/n could only nod in agreement. âOh really?â Emily asked curiously as Kim gave a wild look to Jared.
Flashbacks of Renesmeeâs eyes flooded y/nâs brain. So much for trying to rid herself of her worries y/n thought. Her anxiety about it all started to rise again. She wondered how much Kim revealed to everyone.
âYeah it was crazy almost hitting that deer right y/n?â Kim said giving y/n the look of âjust agreeâ. Y/n nervously laughed as she once again nodded. âIt really was crazy I mean Iâm glad no one was hurtâ she said which was true for y/n anyways.
The group erupted once more with a hundred more questions. Intrigued by the idea of her and Kim âdriftingâ around early this morning. Kim and y/n stared at each other as Kim gave an apologetic look. A âSorry I tell my boyfriend everythingâ type of look y/n would soon become familiar with.
âIt all happened so fast Iâm surprised y/n was able to stop safelyâ Kim continued as everyone looked at the two. âIâm sure youâre shaken up by that. I totally would be if I were youâ Emily added as Sam pulled her closer.
Y/n hesitated to answer, trying to ease hee never slightly before she did, giving a reassuring smile to the group. âI mean I feel okay right now. Iâd be way different if I actually hit the poor animalâ she said causing Leah and Seth to laugh at the poor animal comment.
âYep but theyâre pretty shaken up I had to pick up these poor girls. Save them from driving and hitting another suckerâ Jared cockily teased. Kim gutted him with her elbow making the group erupt in laughter.
âOh please that was you crying to pick us up! Besides youâre just the DD tonight! Me and y/n are gonna have some fun and be drunk as fuck while we do it right y/n?â
âWha?âUh? I mean yeahââ y/n said surprised before Leah cut her off âTo getting drunk as fuck!â She yelled. Getting everyone hype even the young boys who couldnât even drink yet. Emily and Sam gave each other a look before the two laughed shaking their heads.
Sam and Emily started to offer the group alcohol. Which had been sitting in the coolers on ice while they ate and visited. Different beers and coolers sat on the ice. Although y/n was wanting one she hesitated.
Seeing that some of the boys present weren't of age. She was nervous if the group would allow them to drink or not. Seeing the reaction Quil responded. âDonât worry these boys are gonna go home soon. Just waiting for the rest to come before they take their rides homeâ as Quil finished one of them reached for a beer.
Before anything it was smacked out of their hand from Sam. âSmarten up these arenât for you. I put Pepsi and other drinks in the other coolerâ he sternly said as the boys pouted. Reaching into the cooler full of soda instead.
âDo you even drink y/n? Or are you just trying to be shyâ Leah asked already sitting with an open beer. As if it were a challenge Leah stared down at her. Y/n laughed as she shook her head. âGod noâ she reached for a cooler making Leah give an approving smile.
In all honesty y/n had started to get that alert feeling again. She felt comfortable with the group. But she knew that wasnât the cause of it. It was something else she couldnât control.
Totally outside of her dreams, Renesmee, the nervousness of meeting new people, it was a different feeling entirely. At least this alcohol would help ease the weird feeling rising in her body.
As she cracked into it, the group of boys stood up suddenly, y/n didnât notice until she looked up. Before she knew it there was a group of four men coming at them. Running across the beach from the tree line.
Y/n thought it was strange considering how late the hour it was. She felt the back of her neck tingle, the hairs on her body standing up all over, although she had yet to take even a sip.
The boys rushed out to greet the four men. But at closer look it was two young boys, Embry who finally showed up, and some other guy who she couldnât see fully. Blocked by the crowd of rowdy boys in from of them.
The two older ones, the stranger and Embry, were talking with the boys. A gruff unfamiliar voice that scolded them about âgetting their asses straight to their home baseâ. As Embry roughed housed one of the young boys.
To y/n the voice reminded her of an almost military command. âGood luck trying to get these boys to listenâ she thought as she took a sip of her drink. But to her surprise they all did as they all argued on who would drive.
Heading up to the trucks in a frenzy she watched in awe. Amongst them she could see the stranger but not clearly. As him and Embry made their way to the fire, their younger brothers rushing around them, the closer they came the more her heart paced.
âDonât worry those are my brothersâ Sam assured y/n sensing the uneasiness coming from her. She nodded as she awaited for Embry to at least join the group. One of the biggest reasons she wanted to come was to talk to Embry.
The rest of the group stood up to greet the four men as they approached. âThey all may look big and scary but they donât bite. Trust meâ Emily said as a way of comforting y/n. She smiled to assure Emily but struggled to shake off the weird feeling she had.
As she stood up her line of sight met with him, breath taken away as he stared into her and her whole being, with intense black eyes and a wild look. Y/n stood frozen in place as soon as they saw one another.
She felt like a deer in front of headlights. But unlike the deer afraid of the headlights, and what they stood for, she welcomed it. For it was a feeling like no other. Wanting to bask in the light forever.
Time seemed to stop as she and this man looked at one another. Nothing else around mattered, it all drowned and faded out slowly, as she watched the manâs breath steadily become stronger like a pant.
Taking in his features he stood tall with strong broad shoulders. Tan brown skin with black coarse short hair. Full eyebrows that furrowed as he scanned her as well. He had rugged but handsome features. All which made y/nâs heart skip a full beat.
She had never felt such a strong intensity, such a strong need and desire, for a man like she did now. It was as if her feet and everything else were pulling herself to him. It was there and then she realized why she had been feeling this way for so long. Or at least her instincts told her so. He took a step towards her, lifting his hand slightly, everything in her seized ready for what was to come.
But upon seeing the man snap his head away, stepping backwards, his brothers tried to urge him to settle. She felt a tinge of pain and something that felt like rejection rush through her. As the men around him tried to make him stay.
Time and reality came crashing down onto y/n. Sucking the air back into her lungs she could hear noise coming back to her. As Emily and Kim rushed to her side, not realizing she was staggering backwards as well, Kim latched y/nâs arm under her own.
âY/n! Jesus are you okay? Youâre basically stepping into the fire. And you almost dropped your coolerâ Kim asked as y/n tried to understand what just happened. Hearing the yells of Quil and his brothers calling out for the man. She looked up trying to find him among the group of men.
âIâm gonna take these boys home. Iâll be right backâ he answered as he walked up to the boys trucks. âPaul!â They continued to cry out loudly as he gave one last look to y/n. Stopping for a moment just to look at her.
She somehow wanted to stop him. Maybe if she cried out like his brothers heâd stop she thought. Before he shook his head in disbelief storming away to the truck. Y/n began to feel a deep ache in her chest as she sat back down. Reminded of how much a stranger she truly is to them all.
Emily and Kim attempted to comfort y/n as she watched him pull away. As if they knew what she was feeling exactly. Taking the group of boys home in a hurry, spitting rocks as he pulled out, the guys left behind groaned.
âAnd that was my brother Paulâ Sam said defeated by his behaviour. Giving a big sigh as he ran a hand through his hair. âHeâll be backâ he added as y/n stared off into the distance. Trying to cope with what she all just experienced.
Y/n realized how crazy she seemed right now. Shaking her head in disbelief she couldnât believe herself! Since when did she ever want to run into a manâs arms? A stranger at that. It was totally unlike herself.
Embry came and sat by her at some point. But she was too distracted to give him her full attention. She wasnât sure what to do with herself. Left in a state of confusion. Instead she remembered Leahâs words from earlier. Continuing to finish the rest of her cooler drink.
Reminiscing the wild look in Paul's eyes her heart paced loudly. She hated herself at how much she craved to know him. Was that all itâd take for her to be impressed? She refused trying to keep herself in check.
All she could do was build up courage for when he returned. What face should she make? Should she even introduce herself? Why was she thinking about it all so hard? Most of all did he experience what she felt as well?
End of chapter 2, we finally get to meet Paul, although Iâm sure not much expected this reaction. I took some extra time in between editing with adding more characters to the wolf pack. Since weâre told in both the book and movie thereâs around seven more members. But the only names we know is Colin Littlesea and Brady Fuller. More to come in the future with both the wolves and vampires. Donât be shy to leave a comment in the meantime đ«¶đ
