bestie how would you suggest someone get into birdwatching, your posts have intrigued me
it’s easy to get into birdwatching you just start noticing birds, admiring them, and trying to ID them 💖 good place to start is your own backyard! one thing that helped me get started was the Merlin Bird ID app. You can record bird songs and it will identify the bird for you! They also have Photo ID and you can browse birds in your area generally. Once you start to recognize bird calls they become easier to spot, too. You can record lists of birds you see or take pictures but that’s certainly not necessary (I don’t make lists or anything but I have recently started taking photos!) Binoculars are always helpful but again not necessary.
I also just found out about the Audubon Bird Guide app which I’m still exploring but it has a great field guide and is also free
I’ve found that bird watching is such a nice way to check in with your surroundings and be really present when you’re outdoors. Plus they’re beautiful! And it’s a hobby that’s free!! And it’s always exciting to see a new one :) happy birding!!!
