His eyes were fooling him; they had to be, he saw Shepard dying, they said their goodbyes, they had to leave her behind. If that thought alone didn’t keep him awake at nights, he would be sure that right now he was having a horrifying nightmare and that Shepard was haunting him, reminding him of his failure. He failed to help her, save her, he knew that it was strictly her decision, but it didn’t stop him from hating it with every fiber of his body.

“Shepard...?”, he managed to utter as he quickly approached her; no, she was absolutely real, looking alive and well, there was no way she could survive all of that, no way in Hell, but she was ready to prove him wrong.

“Shepard, is that...?”, he asked again, his hands grasping on her arms, as if he wanted to make sure that she wasn’t going anywhere, not anymore.
