Jammer was technically supposed to get back to the hotel before his coach realized he’d wandered off to find the nearest McDonald’s. Sue him, he wanted a dollar cone, and they’d won their tournament, so he deserved one.

He was wondering how much he wanted ice cream when he saw the fight in the McDonald’s parking lot.

When Jammer makes his way down from the dorms, rubbing the sleep from his eyes, he sees sitting alone at one of the common room tables is Evan. He’s not really doing anything—Evan, that is—just tracing his fingers along the table’s surface and waiting. 

He looks sad. Which, to be honest, is usually how Evan looks, but man, Jammer is not Dream and not into that. 

“Yo, Evan!” 

Evan jerks, eyes widening a little when he spots Jammer slide into the seat across from him. A spark flares in those eyes even though he doesn’t smile. 

“Oh, uh, hey. Jammer. Good morning.” His hand stops, and he slips it under the table. 

Jammer spins his wand in his hand, thinking about what he wants. He can’t keep asking for McDonald’s for every meal. To be fair, he’s been testing what Kitch’s limits are and aren’t outside of a Rib Deluxe. It hasn’t been going great. 

Waffles, he decides. Surely Britain can do waffles. Butter. Maple syrup. Maybe some fruit.

He starts scrawling his order and feels, without looking up, Evan watching him.
