“Hey, gorgeous.” He called as James came into view, unable to hide the wide smile that blossomed over his features as his friend came close. “Want a ride? I sprung for the sidecar just for you.”

You had been astounded when James Potter had asked you out, for everyone in the school - and their mother - knew that he had been in love with Lily Evans since Day One. You thought maybe he was finally over her, and you said yes because - what have you got to lose?

A lot apparently.

Even though the two of you sat together at breakfast, he would stare at Lily. When the two of you were working together in Potions class, he would be watching Lily’s every move. When he caught the Golden Snitch during a Quidditch game, it would be Lily he’d fly to and wink to. And even though you noticed all of that, you still let yourself be hurt about it.

“Are we going to Hogsmeade this weekend then?” James asked, pecking your cheek as he sat beside you. You stared at him incredulously. He just spent the last minute and a half trying to figure out what shampoo Lily used.

“No.” You said, and turned back to your breakfast, buttering your toast.

“What? Why not?” James asked. “We’re fine, aren’t we?”

“We’re not fine, James.” You sighed. “Look, I shouldn’t have said yes to dating you. It’s okay though, it’s my fault, I expected too much. And now...” You attempted a smile. “You have no reason to hold yourself back from winning Lily over.” He scoffed, and opened his mouth to say something but you continued before he could. “I’m fine, really, I think if she gave you a chance, you two could change history together.”

It was approaching end of her sixth year at Hogwarts, daylight was getting longer and the weather was perking up; in British terms it was actually a nice day. Other students were beginning to worry about sitting next years N.E.W.T exams and life outside Hogwarts but only one thing mattered to Lucinda right now and that was absolutely slaughtering Gryffindor in the season end game of Quidditch. It was her first year as captain, she wanted the bragging rights; she needed them.

The tyrant captain was willing to work her team to the bone to achieve victory. She previously had them doing laps of the corridors and fitness sessions in vacant classrooms until Mcgonagall pulled her up on safety risks. It caused her to book the pitch for that day, Lu was ready and all before her team began sauntering into the changing room. She gave them a five minute warning before dragging the equipment out onto the grass and beginning the time consuming task of fastening all her safety gear into place.

“Oi Potter! Look I get it.. You’re nervous, if I was facing us I’d be scared too but spying on us? Cmon low blow!” She accused as her fellow Quidditch player came into view.

“It’s not what it looks like...” Sirius Black immediately said, hiding his wand behind his back and shuffled over in front of the creature that was with him. You had walked in to see something that you had not expected in the least and left you standing in the doorway to the common room, completely awestruck.

“I’m not even sure what it looks like.” You said, curling up your nose at the smell that was coming from whatever was hiding beneath the blanket. “But I have a pretty good guess...”

Sirius adjusted the blanket, not looking a what he was doing, which ended up causing a ruckus. The blanket fell to the ground, and Sirius tripped on it, falling back onto...

“James, you alright?” You asked, hurrying forward to help your friend up, and attempt to get him out of the situation that he was put in. The stag didn’t say anything, just got back onto it’s feet and pushed Sirius off of him with his antlers. “Let me take a guess ... you’re decorating James with .. is that tinsel? Are those lights? He’s going to get electrocuted Sirius! And he was going to mess with someone, wasn’t he?”

“Snivillus.” Sirius muttered. “Am I in trouble?”

In the late hours of the night, Gideon Prewett found himself clearing out space in the largest room he could find in one of the Order’s safe houses, pushing furniture up against the walls and out of the way. He would need space for what he was going to be getting up to with James Potter and Marlene McKinnon, who had both volunteered to help him test the prototypes he’d made recently, for the contraption he hoped would be of good use to the Order. He had been working on the plans for a while, had managed to make a few prototypes and tested them on a smaller scale, but now with the newest improvements he needed testing targets that could potentially think their way out of it. He’d put out a call for volunteers, and just like that he was meeting up with them. Gideon recognized them both, he’d heard a few things about the havoc James and his friends had wreaked on Hogwarts during their time in school, and he’d heard a fair bit about Marlene’s attitude as well. All and all, he wasn’t surprised either of them would sign up for such a thing as having someone’s contraptions tested on them. He had no doubt they would both be able to handle the job. Gideon grinned to himself as he set up the room, thinking of what he had to show and test, excited at the chance to finally meet and work with the younger members. With the final chair stacked and everything in place, Gideon sat himself down on the edge of a table in the corner, his messenger bag beside him and his wand tucked behind his ear. One of his hands slipped into his pocket, fingers curling around one of his prototypes. It would be excellent to finally be able to show someone outside of him and Fabian what they could do.

"Jamie!" He cried, dropping his cigarette as a wide, boyish grin overcame him as he saw his best friend standing in the doorway. Sirius pushed off the wall, clapping his friend on the back before pulling him into a hug. He hadn't seen him in what felt like forever - in reality, just a week or two, but with little else ever going on in his life, the time had seemed to drag on. He hadn't realized he'd already arrived, or he'd have found him himself much sooner. But he was here now, and Sirius could feel the dark cloud that had been following him the past couple days receding already. "Don't you dare leave me again." He scolded playfully as he let him go, chuckling. "Always thought I was far too codependent, you know. I blame my mother."
