A gasp is what brought you out of the reverie that you had fallen into, just one single gasp. Hand still wrapped up in Sirius’s luxurious hair, your eyes drited over to the door and then froze. The kids weren’t supposed to be back yet. You’d been expecting it to be Remus or Molly. But not little Harry. The enemy of your cousin and the godson of your beloved.

“Harry, m - my boy,” Sirius stuttered, bringing his hands up to be at your hips rather than the inappropriate place that they had been heading which was lower than that. “Didn’t hear you come in. Good to see you.”

Oh, the awkwardness that was in the room. It was extremely strong. You could cut it with a knife. You cleared your throat and then took a step back, feeling flush at getting caught by him of all people. “Hullo Harry,” You waved. “I’m - I’m going to see if - if Molly needs any help in the kitchen. I’ll be back.” You smiled warily at Sirius, gave him a peck on the cheek and then pushed your way out of the room, past the startled teenage boy who stepped out of your way.

You heard about what had happened later. Harry hadn’t come straight back down, not until dinner was served, and he avoided your eye at the supper table. You couldn’t really look at his either. That wasn’t how you wanted him to find out.

What he had stayed behind or, cutely, was to ask Sirius dating advice. Your lover talked about it after you snuck into his bed once everyone else was sleeping, curling up in his arms. He recounted it all. “He has a thing for a Ravenclaw, apparently,” Sirius said, smirking. “An older woman. That’s my boy.”

“I always thought he and Ginny would make an attractive couple," You mused. “What advice did you give him?”

“What usually works. Play hard to get.”

“Oh Sirius, you didn’t.”

“It worked with you, didn’t it?”

“Not all people are as headstrong as me. And I saw right through your ruse. I’ll have to talk to him tomorrow, set him straight.”

“I think he’ll do alright on his own, he’s a Potter.”

“That’s exactly my worry.”
