When it comes to people’s names that end in “s” (e.g., Chris, James, Thomas), the possessive can be expressed by adding either just an apostrophe or apostrophe + s (’s): Chris’ = Chris’s. It's a matter of preference and style. (For the record, we prefer the latter.)
FYI: the plural form of “Chris” is not “Chris’s”; it’s “Chrises” (e.g., I met three Chrises at today’s seminar.)
