40. “I never stood a chance, did I?”

“I never stood a chance, did I?” Jacobi says, Klein’s arm slung lazily around his waist and his chest pressed against Jacobi’s back. There’s a hum from behind him, a press of lips to the back of his neck, before-

“A chance at what, sweetheart?” he breathes, hot against the back of Jacobi’s neck and earning a shiver.

“Against you,” Jacobi mumbles. “Should’ve known I’d fall for you.”

Klein doesn’t say anything for a moment, just pulls Jacobi closer and presses another kiss to the back of his neck, lips soft against his skin. Jacobi hums, smiling.

“Daniel,” Klein breathes, hand hot against his side. “I… I love you too.”

“Never said that,” Jacobi laughs. “But… yeah. I love you.”

Klein giggles, tapping Jacobi’s side in an attempt to have him roll over- when he does, Klein leans in and kisses him. Soft and sweet, Jacobi grins against his lips, mumbles an “I love you” against Klein’s lips as he presses their foreheads together.

“Love you too,” Klein smiles.

37. “Lie to me then.”

“Lie to me, then,” Klein snarls, hands balled into fists at his side. “Go on. You know you want to, Daniel, so just come on-”

Jacobi cuts him off with a barked-out laugh, crossing his arms over his chest and leaning back into the cushions on the couch. Klein’s chest is heaving, eyes watery.

“Don’t laugh at me,” Klein spits. “Don’t you dare laugh at me. Are you-”

“What do you want me to say, huh? You said you want me to lie to you, baby, so I will. It’s fine. It’s all fine.”

“Daniel, you’re coming home with sprained wrists and bruises everywhere- what the hell are they doing to you?”

“S’work-”

“This isn’t just work! Jesus, Daniel, it’s been three months and- and, baby, if you won’t tell me what’s going on, I- I-”

“Is this a breakup?”

“If you don’t start telling me what’s happening with you then… yeah, it is.”

Jacobi looks pained, for a moment, before he looks at the ground.

“I can’t. It’s… confidential.”

“Then I’m sorry, but-”

“I’m sorry-”

“I love you.”

i would instantly, without any hesitation, lay down my life for them. honest to god, with what’s been implied in the show… christ.

it’s good because with klein you kind of have wiggle room as to the kind of person he is that you really don’t have with jacobi, so that means that however the relationship ended is entirely down to interpretation but- sorry, i’m rambling but, uh.
