The Hatchetfield High first 15 rugby absolutely dominates in the area, top of the table and all, especially thanks to Max as their main try scorer. Hatchetfield High first 11 football team? Mid as fuck. They aren't shit, but they're nothing to celebrate.
Something incredibly Hatchetfield happens and the footie field is out of commission for a while. Thats fine, it doesn't mess with either sports games, right?
No, just messes with training.
But thats fine, the school can split yhe field and double uo teams. The senior girls footie and rugby are handling it just fine... and the boys captains are Max and Pete.
First day of 'shared tranings', Pete gets there early, sets up a goal, has the team starting on warm ups before the rugby team is even there. He puts cones out and everything to make sure his team knows where to stay.
And Max shows up with a problem shoved so far up his ass its steaming out of his ears. He storms over like 'blah blah we were here first blah blah blah' and Pete is like 'coaches are fine with it' and it escalates into a scuffle where the coaches show up before Pete can get his nose broken.
Truly there is not much to this au besides i want sports rivalry where they're forced to play nice or both get benched and demoted for the season (their last season).
Character specifics:
Max: beef him up and thats a rugby player and I mean beef him up. Thats a shithead dragging dirt through the classroom because him and his friends fucked around at lunch with it. If there isn't dirt permanently in his knees, youre not thinking about it right. Also struggling in school because he never got his concussions checked out
Pete: Goalie. He canonically broke his own leg, those arms are good for something and thatd catching balls. He has those goofy swimming goggle glasses and everything. They're like at a B or C team level and he's proud to be their captain. Still a huge fucking nerd (nerds play sports, okay???? Fight me)
Steph: captain of the senior girls rugby team. Organizes team mash-up friendlies with the boys team.
Grace: captain and striker of the senior girls footie team (so you have your lautity). Thermal and tights under her uniform always. Grace is ridiculously speedy and someone started a rumor that God gave her speed.
Ruth and Richie: have nothing better to do than hang around Pete's practices. Obnoxious on the sidelines. A very tired ref carded Pete because they would not shut up (to me knowledge, your supporters can get you carded if they're really annoying)
