Your pics have been so cool that I reinstalled the game! Any recs for cool planets or things to look for?
Really depends a lot on what you find cool. I know a lot of my own exploration goals revolve around things like:
max out the slots on my exosuit
find a starship I like and buy one, max out its slots and class
find examples of all 11 reality glitch planets and their related build objects
locate and build mineral/gas extractors for all the resources Iāll use the most of in exploring/building (oxygen and magnetic ferrite a particular priority, since oxygen can be processed into carbon and magnetic ferriteĀ into pure ferrite, which some of the base building sets use ridiculous amounts of - also gold and silver mines for tech and bases)
keep an eye out for particularly pretty sentinel-free planets to maybe build more ambitious bases on (doubly nice if thereās a friendly neighbourhood sandworm whoāll come leap over you at irregular intervals any time youāre there - hello extra gigantic friend!)
find at least one extreme planet I like enough to do some base building on (which is a really good way to max out your surviving-on-an-extreme-planet milestone progress) - bonus points for extreme planets that have extreme wind events during storms, and will fling you up into the sky if you donāt get to fully enclosed indoor spaces fast enough
have at least one idea for an ambitious base build and go looking for just the perfect place/planet to build it; you can easily kill many days of exploration that way, even before the amount of time that actually building such a base will entail. I had a couple of examples of that on my previous save, my Aerie and City of Atlantis bases
find all the fauna on a planet to get the full set nanite bonus, and try to do that on every planet in the system that doesnāt have aggressive sentinels
And obviously I enjoy keeping an eye out for interesting multitools and starships. Though the vast collection of starship pics are mainly a side-effect of going hunting for exotic starships, which involves sitting around and seeing if one shows up (1% chance of a system spawning one, apparently, but only in 3-star economies). Basically I take the screen captures as a way of both preventing boredom and keeping track of how many different starships Iāve seen in the current system, as each system has 21 different random starships. I try to keep watching at stations, trading posts, archives, and freighter bays until Iāve seen at least 16 different ships, or have finally spotted that systemās exotic, before moving on. I use the in-game photo UI so the related portal address shows up in the lower left corner, then a screen capture utility to get a shot that includes said address, since it doesnāt actually show up on screenshots taken with the photo UI.
