Poetry Comics Workshop: A Game of Words and Pictures

The National Poetry Library and the London Graphic Novel Network present a collaborative workshop exploring how the expression of poetry can be paired with the art of comics. Create an anthology of poetry comic strips in a little over an hour, expressing what path the UK should take in a post-Brexit world.

Led by poet Chrissy Williams (Bear, Bloodaxe Books) and comics artist Alison Sampson (Winnebago Graveyard, Image Comics), the workshop involves a mix of collage and illustration and is suitable for all, even for those with little to no experience with art or poetry.

DEBUTING AT TCAF 2018 - THE WEIGHT OF EXPECTATION by Oli Williams and Jade Sarson

The Act With Love art collective collaborated with illustrator Jade Sarson (winner of Myriad Editions First Graphic Novel competition with For the Love of God, Marie!) to visualise the research of Oli Williams (Department of Health Sciences). Their comic tells the story of how stigma associated with bodyweight and size gets under the skin and is felt in the flesh.
