Jacob Frye, Even though Iām leaving ( Fatherās Day song fic )
By Luke combs ( song fic )
ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦.
Itās Fatherās Day in some parts of the world right now ( not here in Australia) so I thought Iād write this one shot for those craving something for Jacob and his son ( I used my version of Jacobās family )
@nemo-in-wonderland @ct-5445 @thedragonqueenfan @assassins-and-hidden-blades
āāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāā-
( 1875 )
It was sometime in the night when little Emmette Frye snuck from his bed and tiptoed to his parents room. The trees rustling and tapping on the window pane had frightened him.
At first he tried to wake up his sister,
āHmm goāwayā she muttered and rolled back over and covered herself with her blanket.
Once in his parents room he shook his father awake,
āDaddy?ā Emmette whispered to the assassin startling the man awake, he reached for the blade he kept under the mattress but stopped when he saw who disturbed him.
āEmmette?ā Jacob rubbed the sleep from his eyes and got up from the bed carefully as not to disturb his wife.
The young boy quickly jumped in to his fathers arms as he picked him up,
āLetās get you back to bed ladā¦ā he yawned.
( start song )
Before Emmette could utter another word the assassin was already tucking him in to bed, giving him a goodnight kiss and starting to turn to leave,
āDaddy Iām afraid, wonāt you stay a little whileā he begged grabbing his fathers sleeping shirt by the tails,
āWhyās that son?ā Jacob asked curiously now turning back to listen,
āKeep me safe because thereās monsters right outsideā Emmette explained pointing to the window that let the moonlight in.
āThereās no monsters lad, youāll be alrightā Jacob tried to reason softly, trying again to leave.
āDaddy please donāt go, I donāt want to be aloneā¦when you leave theyāll know Iām alone and get meā Emmette whimpered.
Seeing the genuine fear in his child Jacob took his hand and said,
āJust cause Iām leaving, it donāt mean that I wont be here right by your sideā¦when you need me and you canāt see me in the middle of the nightā
He took his son in to a hug,
āJust close your eyes and say a prayer, itās ok I know youāre scared when Iām not hereā¦Iāll always be right hereā Jacob added putting a hand over Emmetteās heart.
( 1891 )
āCome father Iāll be late my carriage will be here any minuteā Emmette called out to his father, now a young man he had been called away over seas for a mission on behalf of the British brotherhood.
He had just finished consoling his mother and promising profusely to write as often as he could.
āYou know the brotherhood doesnāt like to be kept waitingā Emmette added as his father came down the stairs, the years hadnāt been to kind to the elder assassin especially during the autumn of terror some years back.
āAre you ready son?ā Jacob asked as he looked at the one suitcase he was going to take.
āAs Iāll ever be..ā he replied nervously, there was a sick churning in his stomach and he wasnāt even on the boat yet.
Emmette wondered if he was ready for this mission at allā¦he had always had his father to guide him.
Opening the front door the young man saw the carriage pull up on the street infront of his childhood home.
Jacob pulled his son close before he could leave, wrapping his arms around his sons neck,
āJust because your leaving, it donāt mean I wonāt be there by your sideā he whispered holding back the tears that threatened to spill and the lump in his throat,
āWhen you need me and you canāt see me in the middle of the nightā
Emmette tried to interrupt,
āI-Iāll be fine father-ā
āJust close your eyes and say a prayer, itās ok I know your scaredā¦I might be here but Iāll always be right there..ā Jacob added pulling away from his son, patting him on the back and sending him off in to the world.
( 1919 )
The telegram had come a week prior from old Aunt Evie in the countryside,
āEmmette come home. Your father had an Apoplexyā the elder man read it and his heart filled with dread, he took the first train he could to Crawley.
Once there he, his sister and Aunt Evie did their best to look after the old assassin. He wasnāt so spry no more and he couldnāt free run or fight like in his old days.
But unfortunately he grew weaker each day,
āHeh who knew a stroke would take meā Jacob whispered from his bed as Emmette sat by his bedside, Amelia was helping her Aunt prepare lunch downstairs.
āIād always hoped itād be at the business end of blade or pistolā he chuckled which turned in to a coughing fit which made the old man gasp for air.
āYou arenāt going to die fatherā¦just rest and youāll regain your strength soon enoughā Emmette reasoned after his father had slightly settled, taking his hand gently.
The poor man was in denial even after the doctors grim diagnosisā¦he wasnāt going to get better.
āIām an old man Emmetteā¦Iāve done my fightingā¦I miss your motherā Jacob muttered tiredly wheezing, his grip loosening on his sons hand.
Emmette felt tears pool in his eyes,
āDaddy Iām afraidā¦wonāt you stay a little while?ā He felt like a small child again as he begged his father trying to keep him awake.
āItās my time sonā¦ā
āI never thought Iād see the day Iād have to say goodbye..ā Emmette whimpered.
āT-Then I did good..a father should never have to bury his sonā¦ā
āDaddy please donāt go, I canāt do this on my own..ā he became to softly cry,
āYou have your sisterā¦and your childrenā¦look after your aunt for me..ā Jacob reasoned rasping.
āThereās no way I can walk this road aloneā¦I still need you..ā
With the last bit of strength in the old Assassins body Jacob took his sons hand,
āJust cause Iām leaving, it donāt mean that I wonāt be here right by your sideā¦when you need me and you canāt see meā¦I-in the middle of the night..ā he answered softly.
āJust close your eyes and say a prayer..ā Jacob lifted a shakily weak hand to wipe away the tears running down Emmetteās cheek,
āItās okay boy Iām not scared, I wonāt be hereā¦ā
His weakened hand slipped down to place it over his sons heart,
āIāll always be right hereā¦ā Jacob patted it and his arm fell back by his side, too exhausted now to move.
āAmelia, Aunt Evie!ā Emmette cried out,
āEven though Iām leavingā¦Iām not going no whereā¦ā Jacob closed his eyes.
āIām not going no whereā¦ā he muttered and drifted off to sleepā¦. ļæ¼

A St. Patrickās Day Observation
Evie: Jacobās a lot like a leprechaun, donāt you think?
Henry: *confused* What? How is Mr. Frye like leprechaun?
Evie: Well, he causes mayhem wherever he goes, and he enjoys inconveniencing others for his own amusement.
Henry: I see your point, Miss Frye. Perhaps your brother is indeed a leprechaun.
Evie: *shrugs* That or heās just a changeling.
Jacob : THE FUN NEVER STOPS
