#JackedKirby - To Cross Hatch... or to not Cross Hatch? 💥💥💥 That is the question at hand today!!! Here we have some original pencils done for the New Gods #Issue1 Cover, follow d by the adjustments and changes made for the final colorized version of the cover that actually made it to print. The book was published in March of 1971 and was the flagship title of the 4th World experiment at DC... but something clearly changed in Kirby’s head when he was finalizing the design for this issue! 💥💥💥 In the original penciled Cover we see a larger Orion, more planets/moons in the background and a ton of Kirby Krackle filling out his outer space backdrop. 💥💥💥 In the final colored version Orion has more of a tilt, it seems his helmet has been redrawn a bit, we have been reduced to one planet in the background and the space backdrop has been switched from Kirby Krackle to Cross Hatch. The coloring of Orion is also very unique... almost day glo and weirdly inserting greens/yellows into his traditional red/silver/blue costume. 💥💥💥 I don’t know which one I like better... but for me this is one of Jack’s most iconic covers Nd I’m sure I would have loved it either way. 💥💥💥 What about you guys? Kirby Krackle or Cross Hatch? Let us know in the comments below... and make sure to tell us WHY!!! 💥💥💥 #JackKirby #KingKirby #Kirby #NewGods #Orion #4thworld #70sComics #ComicsOfThe70s #KirbyCovers #JackKirbyCovers #Comics #ComicBooks #Comic #ComicBook #igcomicscommunity #igcomiccommunity #IGComics #ComicsOfIG
