Eeeeh I already have Mary Berry’s books and at the risk of being lynched by the GBBO fandom, I’m not a fan of her baking. Or Paul’s. 

My fam were at a BBC event in Scotland recently and Mary was handing out her shortbread, which mum and I already know we don’t like because she adds semolina into it (which a lot of English TV bakers seem to do???) and my mum told her it was “okay, not great but okay.” Same with the Victoria sponge which was apparently rather “cloying”.

She also told me Paul’s bread was raw in the middle, which lmao. 

Also apparently if you look up recipe forums pertaining to his soda bread recipes it’s just filled with wee old Irish Grannies talking about how wrong his methods are. Gives me life tbh.
