dimitri and straat reconvene upon the arrival of the beatles back to earth… with plenty of taumoeba and information about how to disperse it to save the world, we should be celebrating! but there’s one little thing to address….
chapter 10, the finale of in vitro in vacuo has been posted!
aaaand that means we've reached the end! to celebrate, i cobbled together an extremely short animatic with a song i've loved and had preg thoughts about for years <3 thank you again to everyone who's read, left kudos and comments, and bookmarked my (this sure has been a Hail Mary) of a fic <3

when the outline is three times the length of the last chapter. aha
LICHEN is a collection of poetry centering around trauma, identity, and recovery. Now Available on ko-fi
Ok, I’m experiencing a dilemma.
I’m currently writing a fic about a stealth trans Daniel Molloy living in San Francisco prior to + after his encounter with Louis. There’s some minor Danlou and Devil’s Minion, but it has a huge historical focus and is more of a character study than anything else. It’s somewhat mixed media: half written entries/notes, half transcribed tape recordings.
My issue is I’m worried that switch creates a weird or inconsistent feeling within the fic, because it’s not at regular intervals. Daniel keeps a personal log every night, which is written when he’s with other people (and therefore thinking things he can’t say aloud) and spoken when he’s alone. And then all interviews are transcribed recordings. So it’s inherently more transcribed recordings than written pieces. I enjoy it, and I’ve managed to tie in thematically, but I’m so attached to this fic that I’m not an unbiased perspective at all. It’s beyond self-indulgent, but I want to make sure it’s accessible and enjoyable for others to read, obviously.
So options are:
- keep the balance of writing/transcription and make sure to drive home that thematic piece
- alter the balance of writing/transcription so all individual logs are written and all interviews are transcribed
- change it to all transcription (this would be quite time-consuming but I’ve already sunk so much into this fic that if it’s for the best I’ll do it)
Idk. If anybody’s willing to chime in with their opinions, I’d really appreciate it.
