Cowes week Ok...it was Cowes day in my case...but we watched the fireworks from a rib in the Solent..which made the post work trip to Cowes with it. Sailing on the lovely Journeymaker + lots of #clipperrace crew too! Oh...and did I mention...we got line honours! #cowesweek #cowes #j111 #yachts #racing

My inaugural Round the Island We crept down to our boat for 5am...and I insisted on whispering until we had day light. Silently hundreds of boats left Hamble as dawn rose, with the mystery of a secret armada. . Before we knew it we were off...racing amongst 1500 boats and squeezing past the needles (where someone had lost a Dan bouy at an importune place.) . After racing we headed back over to Cowes...and the Solent was again silent with no hint of the day's activities! #RTI #Cowes #J111 #sailing #racing #solent

WOKC 2017 How amazing to be out on the water with these incredible ladies! The Dubarry Women's Open Keelboat Championships was an inspiring and feisty weekend. We had a fresh breeze buzzing around 20knots and competitors who ranged from casual sailors to Olympians. . Our crew was large, with 11 plus two bumps, but we hadn't sailed together before. We quickly found our roles and had some winning races, but sadly on the Sunday we dropped a kite in the water. For those that hadn't circumnavigated on the clipper race, the sound and sight of ripping kite dragging in the water may have been a first. To add to the pain...this happened 5 ministers after the generous boat owner had turned up to support in a rib (along with my mum.)!! . We won our class and came second overall...but were undoubtably crushed to not win. We'll just have to head back next year. . A thank you to the organisers, Hamble River Sailing club and #Dubarry. Where better to wear my Dubarry Boots... ...than training for the Dubarry Womens Open Keelboat Championships?
