I say charge for materials, then an hourly wage. That way, say, if someone wanted something with fur accents and a lot of buttons and shiny things, it would cost more than some who wanted a more simple costume

Your skill and schedule mean that your time is worth more than that.  But, plenty of people do work for less than it’s objectively worth, out of enjoyment.  It’s up to you to weigh the priorities.  If someone balks at a fair price, then that person wasn’t really motivated in the first place.

Thank you for the feedback, guys. ;w;  I forgot to mention that I would charge for materials, so my basic fee would be cost of materials + an hourly rate.

I originally had it priced at $15/hr, but then I calculated the cost of some of my costumes at that rate and was like "wow haha that is really expensive."  I have no problem with raising it back up to that price, I was just second-guessing myself.  If you guys would like to take a look at what I have written and let me know if it looks okay, I would really appreciate it.

Ohayocon 2011 was a really special time for me because it was the first convention I had ever attended where I was able to spend the Thursday night before the con at a hotel with my friends.  Lots of dumb shenanigans ensued, but the highlight of that night was a dramatic reading of a really long story I found on the internet.  It was simply entitled "Meet Jed," and was the epic chronicle of a guy's experience with one of the most mind-numbingly fucked up roommates you could ever dream of.  My most intense memory from that night isn't laughter, it's actually the pain in my face caused by shrieking and crying about how outrageous this story was.

Anyway, I just wanted to let my roommates know that I found something to read on Thursday night of Colossalcon.  It's not as long as Meet Jed, but I've already done a trial reading of part of it for Amkii and she wants to Skype in that night to see this thing go down.
