Routine. That’s what it was. For the most part. A few things changed here and there. Like the location and what was available at the time. But the concept was the same. However, that didn’t make things any easier. No matter how routine it was, that didn’t mean she liked it any more than she did the night before. Or the night before that. It would never get any easier. At least not for her.
Hunting. Something that was pretty much mandatory for her. Always had been and always would be. Unfortunately. Unless a miracle happened and she stumbled upon some kind of source that wouldn’t require her to take another life. Just to save hers. Taking lives. Killing other innocent souls. Unfortunately that was something she had become a pro at. But again, she didn’t like it any more than she did first starting out.
Tonight’s meal of choice was a doe. Thankfully she didn’t seem to have any babies with her and she wasn’t expecting. Good. The less lives she had to kill, the better. It was already bad enough the poor thing got picked in the first place. But then again, no choice was a good choice in the vampire’s opinion. Still. What had to be done.....must be done. And so she struck. Silent and deadly. But with a heavy heart that never beat.
