❛ i thought you’d like some company. ❜
eddie wants to be alone. he's not in the mood to talk to anyone right now , but he can't really afford to push anyone away , either. and maybe it's better to have buck around? god knows what sort of trouble he gets himself into when no one is around. he's got nothing else going on in his life right now; he was no longer dating marisol ( no surprise there ) , christopher was in el paso with his parents , and that left eddie with what? work? of course he also still had the 118 ( and buck ) , but that tied back into work. he no longer had a reason to rush home anymore. no one would be waiting for him or wanting to hang out after he got off work. he could only do so many chores and workout so much before he grew tired of it.
so instead , eddie found himself in one of the lawn chairs that had been left up on the roof of the station. the few people who came up here were often smokers who wanted to sneak off to light up and catch a break for a few minutes. eddie didn't smoke but the other guys who came up here never bothered him. sitting in a corner in the dark probably wasn't their cup of tea , anyway.
tonight , he heard footsteps approaching his spot on the room. chin rested in the palm of his hand as his elbow leaned against one of the arms of the chair , eyes briefly squeezed shut in a silent prayer that whoever it was would leave him alone. apparently , eddie wasn't that lucky tonight.
at least it was buck. it didn't change his mood , but he was more willing to allow his friend to see him like this than anyone else. and anyway , buck had seen him in worse shape than this. not trusting himself to not find something snarky to respond with , he gave a nod towards an unused chair folded against the ledge of the roof. clinging to the last few precious moments of silence he would get , he waited until buck was situated next to him before deciding it was safe enough to speak.
" how'd you know i was up here? "
