People say Jet is the paranoid one, but no that's Sokka. Sokka looked at this cute 12-year-old, ray of sunshine child who was talking about fun and being a kid and thought 'this is a spy for the nation that took both my parents from me, that tried to take my sister from me, that wiped out all the people whom the kid claims to be from, SUSPICIOUS.'
Sokka saw Haru from afar and thought nope. Sokka saw Jet and thought hell no. Sokka didn't even have a reason for not trusting Hama (at first obviously). He never had a reason for not trusting any of these people.
Sokka is only ever right about someone being evil or underhanded because he suspects everyone. This is most probably related to trauma from war and suddenly discovering the loss of his mom which changed everything in their lives. A moment where he felt elated and reassured was really a dark and unforgettable moment for them. So to avoid ever feeling like that again, he just assumes the worst in most situations.
Paranoia has to be somewhat unreasonable or irrational, and Jet being fearful and mistrustful of Fire Nation people, while at war and under attack from them, is reasonable. Sokka isn't at war with airbenders or earthbenders and granted assuming the worst in war may save you, but it's not a healthy mindset despite making sense.
"It's time..."
Haila doesn't know her target, but she doesn't need to. She sets down some glue traps in the doorway to the barracks, hoping to mildly inconvenience anyone who comes through.
She also spends her time setting up glue traps in the bunks themselves. And the seats in the mess. And the floors in the refreshers. Anywhere a clone may go, a glue trap is laid.
But there is one particular glue trap of importance. One right under an opening to the vent system. And in that vent Haila waits, prepped with a bucket of glitter glue (in teal, of course. She wants people to know it was her that did it).
What poor unfortunate soul steps on that glue trap? Does Haila catch the macaron villain, or does she glitter glue an innocent bystander?
( I am wheezing. ) Shriek: -She's on high alert, she doesn't know who she got with the macarons but she knows if she got Charge she's in deep bantha osik and she's not going to make it easy for her ori'vod to catch her- Blank: -Unfortunately he has no idea what's been started. This poor poor vod'ika, the baby, the fresh faced innocent corporal of the 213th. He hits the glue trap right under the vent- W-what the?! -he has little time to react before he's doused in teal glitter and left confused as to what he'd done to deserve this-
Bitter: He growls as he gets glue traps stuck to him in his bunk. Who the kriff dared to prank him? Jam? Beat? Shriek? Oh he's going to find out who dared to mess with him. The twins would be his first visit, they were always the first suspects. If it wasn't them his ori'vod Shriek was next- When I get my hands on them... -he pulls a glue trap from his hair-.... Charge: -he sighs as he pulls a glue trap from his boots while finding them in his bunk as well. Was this Shriek's doing? Or the twins? Well least he checks Bug's bunk and finds them there too.- All of the bunks huh? Well good thing I found this before Bug was hit.. he'd be devastated to have these in his hair... Fluke: Charge.... we have a problem... Charge: Glue trap? Fluke: yes how'd you know? Charge: They're in all the bunks.... Fluke: kriff... you don't think the twins? Charge: or Shriek. Shriek: -she walks into the bunk room and looks at them like a wide eyed tooka at her name being called- whatever it is I didnt do it. Charge: -he smirks a bit- Uh-huh pretty quick to defend yourself vod'ika. Shriek: Okay I might have done something but it wasn't against you? Charge: so you didn't put glue traps in the bunks? Shriek: what? No way! -she checks her bunk and sure enough there's traps there- I swear if Jam and Beat betrayed me and turned on me.... -she frowns a bit- Oh it's on.... Charge: -he sighs a bit- Alright... who ever started this finish it. Shriek: I need to go talk to the general -she gets a devious glint in her eyes that makes Charge and Fluke share a worried look-
